i did a search, didn't find this particular thread.

what movie scene makes you cringe?

for me it's from Casino with the baseball bats. for those of you who haven't seen it and want to, stop reading now because i'm going to spoil it:

i don't know why but i watched it just now and i don't know whether it's the violence, or the look of helplessness on pesci's face knowing that he'll be next, or the sadistic fucking smile that Frank's got on his face, but the whole scene scares the shit out of me. they beat pesci and his on-screen brother ALMOST to death with baseball bats, before stripping them down and throwing them into a hole in the ground to bury them alive. the brother's twitching, bloody to a pulp face being covered in dirt is going to haunt my dreams. well maybe... if i can manage to fall asleep. yeesh.

I remember cringeing during the movie "Kids". Theres a scene where a girl is looking for a guy because she wants to tell him hes got AIDS. Meanwhile he is rawdogging some 13 year old virgin at a party. I just remember feeling like I was actually watching someone get AIDS, and I felt really bad for the girl like her life was ruined at 13.

Best cringe, the un-aired 13th episode of Masters of Horror called Imprint. The torture scene physically hurt me to watch, and I considered myself desensitized to everything.

Didn't wanna spoil it cuz it just came out, but there's a group of Japanese prostitutes, one steals something from the madam. They string her up with rope by her hands and feet and one woman has these long spikes, like oversized threading needles 5 inches big, and they actually show them being put under each fingernail, and into her gum line above the teeth so that her lips had to rest on the needles... first time I've squirmed watching something in a long time.

That is the FIRST scene I thought of when I saw this thread, you beat me to it.

Another one that really gets me is in We Were Soldiers when the soldier gets friendly-fired (literally) on a napalm run...when they try to pull him to the chopper his charred skin and muscle come off the leg in the other guy's hands....awful.

oh shit. i forgot Irreversable. i despise rapists but i had heard that the scene was brutal. i have seen r*pe scenes before and i didn't really find them horrific. the montage in Sudden Impact was mildly disturbing but holy crap - Irreversable makes you cringe. especially when you see the man witness it but just walk out of picture. you want to scream at him to help her.

Going old , a 1966 western called Duel at Diablo. Dennis weaver gets tied to a wagon wheel and burned on a fire. You really don't see anything, but for 10 minutes he screams in the back ground. As a child this scared the hell out of me.

This isn't a cringe moment, but it definitely creeped me out.

I rented End of Evangelion, and the scene where Third Impact happens kept me awake for the rest of the night and actually ruined the series for me. I refuse to watch Evangelion because of this alternate ending.

SPOILERS (if you haven't seen Evangelion, or have and want to keep the ending in your mind, don't read on)

When Third Impact happens, thousands of Reis swarm to every person in the world and disguise themselves as someone they trust. Once she has them let their guard down (or as it's known in the story, their AT field), they instantly turn into LCL (this yellow goop).

That crepped me out.

I'm in total agreement about the paper cuts in Jackass (I just fucking saw that last night, Steve-O is insane), the napalm in We Were Soldiers, the last 20 minutes of Requiem for a Dream and the raype in Irreversible.

The first time I saw the Exorcist and the girl stabbed herself in the cunt with a crucifix was a bit cringey, but now I"d probably be able to rub one out to that scene.

Well, technically he was ****** her, so I think she was going to be fucked up either way. I wanted to shoot everyone of those little fuckers in that movie, by the way.

For me the worst was the brain eating scene in Hannibal. The eating part wasn't bad to me, it was how meticulously Hopkins described the brain parts, and how fucked up Ray Liotta was acting. I had to take my jacket off in the theater, and I felt faint. I can go to Oggrish and peruse that site all day long, but for some reason that scene got to me.

As far as the non-violent cringe goes, you have to watch Happiness. That movie is cringe from beginning to end. It starts with Jon Lovitz crying at a dinner table in a fancy restaurant on a date, it ends with a mom making out with a dog who just licked up her sons semen. And there's a kid toucher in the movie too! And Philip Seymore Hoffman plays a wannabe rapist that can't pull off the act.

Not yet, but I have seen the first 2. They didn't do much for me. I assume there is a "brain scene" in Saw3? With Hannibal, it was the acting, not the actual scene that screwed with me. I will have to check out Saw3 and see if I pass out, he he. I also need to rent Hannibal, so I can see if it still bugs me.

i think the whole movie of the hills have eyes creeped me out. im not into gory shit.

Just saw the unrated ending 'axe" scene from The Hills Have Eyes. It was really no different than any other slasher film, IMO. I need to see the whole thing though...

Pet Sematary where the kid slices the grandfather's achilles tendon

What about one of the last scenes of "Fire in the sky" the whole time travis is on that medical table and the aliens are fucking experimenting on him, makes me cringe....

I also agree about Casino when his brother gets beat to death is so fucked uop and the drag his body you can pretty much see the bones all broken and his arm is so loose its disgusting...and then pesci getting hit in the face the first time i saw that i was like WTF! I't looked so real but now when i watch it it looks fake lol but it still a gruesome scene.

Remember in the begining of Casino when you see Deniro get in the car and it changes to a dummy? its so obvious and stupid looking.......

Saw that in the theater, the few people that were still in the theater (after the first attack scene) almost cleared out at that point.

That movie was a piece of shit, though....who the fuck is afraid of Waingro?

Also, I worked at a theater when Casino was out. I got so involved in that movie, I started tearing up when Pesci was begging for his brothers' life at the end.

That seriously traumatized me as a kid. I watched that movie on TV when I was little, because hey, little kids like Superman. I thought the movie was kind of boring, until the part where the woman gets turned into a robot. The way she looked freaked me the hell out.

Ok Just saw "Freaks" for the second time...the ending, while non explicit, freaks me out..the armless worm guy with the knife in his teeth... freaky!
"Jacob's Ladder" memory flashes disturbing as hell, had bad dreams about it for years.

i remember bringing this up on WB before, but i recall seeing a scene from what i think was a movie on television as a child. i remember not being able to sleep for whatever reason, coming downstairs to tell my parents, and catching this scene on TV. i don't even know if it's a movie or not, but it involves some creature that looks like a long turd and it comes up out of the toilet and is crawling around on the floor of a couple's bedroom and the couple doesn't know it's there. so the woman leaves the room and the turd creature "attacks" the guy by going into his mouth and down his throat, choking him. he's gagging and grabbing his throat, the girl comes in, sees this turd thing sticking out of his mouth, and she's screaming. weirdest, sickest thing i can recall seeing.

- The slicing of anyone's achilles (Hostel comes to mind)
- The scene in Requiem for a Dream when he tries to shoot up in his arm while it's getting gang green (drug, or addiction movies in general freaked me out... I find it really hard to sleep after watching them, Leaving Las Vegas I couldn't sleep for 2 days after that... I don't know why!)
- I saw the episode from Masters of Horror that someone mentioned on here, I think I saw a millisecond of that torture scene... really hard to watch.

And on a closing note I will think of more... this is a great topic... love this shit!!!
