It's not a game that you will sit down and play by yourself for hours. But it is a really great game with friends.

The bowling is just like real bowling. The Tennis is fun as well.

Boxing is cool once you get the hang of it. You can't just throw your arms around like a mad man.

But yeah, It's a great simple game that you will have fun with. Just play it with friends or family.

The reviews put Boxing and Golf as the worst.

Which concerns me. Big fan of Hot Shots Golf (i know, thats a Sony Game). And Fight Night. Both genres need to be perfect for me with the Wii.

I like golf, baseball, and bowling.

I could see a Tiger Woods '07 for the Wii being freakin' awesome. You could really use the controls to get a very interactive and challenging experience that's a lot closer to real golf than ever.

I'm having a blast hitting homeruns in the baseball training. My shoulder is actually sore. It's crazy.

Boxing stinks. It's just not very accurate.

Boxing takes more technique than the others. Once you know what you are doing, it's really good. The reviewers just didn't get it. Mostly because it's a game for non gamers. You do have to use the big motions to work it right. And you can't just throw your arms around without reason. I love it.

I think I still like Tennis the best out of all the games. I liked it even better when I found out that you could control your teammate in single player. I still haven't tried this challenge mode, though.

WiiSports is probably one of the best things Nintendo could have packed in with the system. It's not perfect, but it certainly does a tremendous job of hinting at the capabilities/possibilities for the Wii's controller.

My Wii sports age was a 52 the first time I played it. The tennis killed me. I havent played it yet so i really dont know what im doing.
I just rocked a 186 in bowling. Im getting the curves to hit everytime now.
With the baseball, how hard can you swing? Does it matter after a certain point?

This four day weekend coming up is going to kill my arms. I got a list of friends who are planning to be in and out of my house all weekend playing this.

In the bowling game, when you do the training and get to the last one with the 91 pins, you can get the ball to roll on the lane divider and then it goes into the back, makes an explosion sound and all the pins fall. Its pretty cool. The vids up on youtube

Suppose I should repost this bit that I initially added to the big Wii thread.

My WiiSports case:

Pics of my shabby yet still spanking WiiSports case:

Front (http://img146.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wiisportscase002uc9.jpg)
Side (http://img146.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wiisportscase003wd8.jpg)
Rear (http://img146.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wiisportscase004wo8.jpg)
Inside (http://img146.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wiisportscase006go4.jpg)

As you can see one of the edges got cut off. Apparently my HP has a driver default bottom margin of .5". So I can either get larger paper or live with it. It seems just fine to me. Definitely a lot better than that cardboard sleeve that it originally came in.

You can get the cover art here: http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cover_id=1716

And as for the case you can either a) find a white dvd case b) go to target and pay 1 cent for their Wii preview dvd c) go to the nintendo store and pay $1.50 for a case or d) find the site of a guy who is selling Wii Christmas trees, he has them pre-made there for $5.99

Can someone explain why all my bowls keep pulling to the left? I turn the controller every goddamn way, and each throw keeps curving to the left. It's annoying as shit! Everyone else can throw it straight, so it's something I'm doing...

thrawn42
11-25-2006, 10:18 PM
I find that in bowling unless you intentionally curve the ball, that it always curves left. You really have to practice to get the ball to curve in the direction you want to and the amount of curve you want.

Another thing that can alter the ball's course is changing when you release the trigger. If you release it high up into your throw the ball will fly for a bit before it hits the lane.

Also keep in mind that besides moving left and right, you can tap 'A' and change the direction you want to throw the ball.

I find that in bowling unless you intentionally curve the ball, that it always curves left. ....I find that to be wrong. I can throw it strait and it will go strait. My brothers almost always curve it left. It's all in how your wrist comes up. When your wrist comes up you are putting a slight spin on it.

It's quite possible. I've never been able to throw the ball perfectly straight. I'm still working on my throw though. I can consistently curve in either direction with varying degree and I can pretty much pick up any spare given to me with the exception of some of the more difficult splits.

Fr. Dougal
11-27-2006, 07:41 PM
At my game night this weekend, one of my friends tried just flicking his wrist instead of making the whole sweeping arm motion. The ball went speeding down the lane perfectly straight. He had moved to the right just a tad, like 2 quick presses... then did the wrist flick. He got strike after strike.

His bro did the same thing in baseball... just a quick flip. That got him consistent 96 mph fastballs. Can't get anything faster that that tho.

If anyone else does the power bowling training like me I found out a neat little trick. I will put it like this (in case anyone feels like its cheating.:action-sm
To get an automatic 91 pin strike in the last round of Power Bowling, Throw the ball on the right or left rail (depending on if you are right or left handed) so that it stays on it the whole time. If it reaches the end without falling off, you will hear a "click" and an explosion. Then all the pins will fall down from the shockwave. NOTE: This only works on the last round.

Wow...just did 3.5 hours in bowling. I rolled a 279. One strike short of a perfect game. I missed it in the 3rd frame by 1 pin, had to settle for a spare.

The real problem is when you start getting above 200 on average, any 1 frame that's not a strike or spare can really sink you.
And right now if I get a split it's almost a guarantee the entire 10 frames is just going to be a detriment to my overall score.
I think I can hit about 1 out of every 4 really wide splits (i.e. 7-10). The funny thing I've noticed about split shots is though that the remote's curve sometimes seems to reverse. Either it's a bug or something I didn't notice in the instruction booklet.

just put this back in for a bit...good shit

on baseball...i cant tell if swinging in an uppercut style swing affects ball path or not..does it?...also...can anyone direct a ground ball hit in this?..im having a hard time doing it and i was wondering if this was even possible

on tennis....does it help to hit the backhands by actually going backhand?..once again..couldnt tell a real difference either way

Perch1019

Whats the best people have done in bowling? I was able to run of a "Seven-pack" of strikes before I fell apart. I ended up with a 242. Im usually averaging around 205-210 but can easily mix in that 140 if i totally shit the bed.
Anyone hear of any perfect games yet?

My brother found that using the "grandma" technique of rolling the ball between your legs, you can pick up a spare every time. Its annoying as fuck to play against but it keeps the scores high.

And I cant fucking beat 32 for my Wii age. I was flawless on the boxing dodging thing, did ok on the heavy bag but couldnt hit the target on the wall in tennis for my life. Im horrid at the boxing. It just doesnt seem to respond to my movements that well. Does this happen to anyone else?

Oh and how to you 'spin' the ball in tennis?

BaLZaC~308
12-12-2006, 10:10 PM

my high in bowling is a 288 ive gotten ten strikes in a row (pissed when i missed it)

Baseball Bowling Tennis and Boxing are my fav's

my fitness age is at 23 i cant get that any lower

I've gotten a real 91 pin strike...have yet to do the trick(ball keeps falling off the rail)

the only one i dont really play is golf

I'm pro in bowling and thats it im close to pro in Tennis, Baseball, and Boxing

& yes it does matter which angle you swing the remote in Tennis...if you hold the remote at a 90 degree angle (with the top part facing toward the ceiling) you will hit the ball with topspin and more velocity....if you swing horizontally it will be more of a rainbow shot....backhands and forehands do matter also

baseball is timing
boxing is timing(you cant just swing uncontrollably watch your guy)

Perch1019

The lowest fitness age you can get is 22 i believe.

I hate golf. It sucks asshole. I always hit my first 2 shots and then when it comes time to get on the green, i max out on strokes.
Im terrible at boxing too. I guess I just have no patients for the timing.

I just hit pro in tennis too. Its starting to beat out bowling as my fav. I cant consistantly spin the ball tho. Its frustrating

I would have chucked the remote against the TV if i missed that last strike.

well as with mostly everything else its all about timing it right....

i still mess it up sometimes but i found the easiest way to do it is by actually going through the motions of serving the ball into the air and hitting it
(BTW theres 3 ways to serve the ball up pressin A,B or going thru the actual motion)

basically u serve it up, and as soon as your hand gets above your shoulder you hit the ball, in one smooth motion

in other words once your hand gets to its highest point after serving it up smack the ball

its hard to explain but i stink at explaining let me know if that helped
