I'm interested in purchasing a TV tuner card for my Windows XP Pro PC. I would like to be able to record TV shows and maybe transfer them to DVD. Is anyone on hear really familiar with that and could you recommend some products? Thanks.

I already have a Geforce 6800 card. What ATI card would you recommend?

The All-in-Wonder is made by ATI.

Hauppauge makes some great ones. They work rather well.

Thanks, I actually have a bid on one on Ebay right now. I'm hoping it doesn't get to $100 bucks.

If that doesn't work, you can get the ATI TV-Wonder VE for around $50. The All-In-Wonder is a full graphics card but if all you want is video capture, the TV-Wonder seems to do the trick.

A buddy just gave me a tuner card. It's a ATI TV Wonder Pro. I know nothing about them. Is there any software I need to get? What do I have to do to get this working?
Sorry to hijack, but I hate making new threads when I don't have to.

Now I have a similar question, the card I have been looking at apparently doesn't come with software for Windows XP only MCE. Do I have to pay for TV Tuner software? I saw something called SageTV. Are there other ones people would recommend too?

I found a nice one on download.com, it's called Stoik Capturer.
But I want to be able to watch it full screen when I'm not recording it.

So your saying the Stoik Capturer doesn't do this? Does any card come with software or what? That's a pretty crappy deal if they don't.

Yup just go to ATI.com and sort through the links to get the drivers for your card. There will be two or three files you need to watch and record TV on your PC. Follow the instructions as far as which files to install first, etc. and then once you get it all installed it's very easy to use.

It all depends on what you want to do. Are you recording analog and digital or do you want HD only? You might want to check out the Home Theater computer section over on www.avsforum.com, you can get a lot of info there.

Thanks, I'm fairly computer savy but the TV Tuner stuff really loses me.

Yep I was the same way.

Right now I have a MyHD-130 for HD content and a Nvidia DualTV for all my analog recordings.

I do use MCE and it's a great interface for recording, but my MyHD card does not work within the MCE shell.

I record all my shows in HD and then stream it to my 360 and watch it on my HDTV. It works pretty damn well.
