That's at least an easy route to an annullment which will allow for plenty of time to focus on the needed years of psychotherapy.

So glad I found someone who thinks marriage is as laughable as I do.
It's 2007, who actually needs to get married?

Not the same thing. We all joke here about gays and lesbians, but I really hope that most of us aren't so backwards to really give two shits about them wanting rights as human beings. As we should be able to reason, making laws against them or excluding them from many rights others have isn't going to make them go away. If they annoy you so much for just being there, you're fucking gay. The exception is the gay parades. UGH. So equating gays to dogs is a wonderful connection one can make. Jeez, they just want to be able to get such things as spousal insurance, inheritance, and even the ability to visit a critically injured partner in intensive care.

Exactly what I tell my gf. No need whatsoever. I'm pretty much locked in with her, I'm pretty devoted as my background culture would dictate. I couldn't care less about her taking my last name, and we work to resolve problems and not propagate them. Likewise, she's completely devoted to the same things, so locking in with a marriage would only serve to keep her from being on her best behavior because she knows I can, have, and will leave her at any time when she gets too annoying. Even in marriage I'd do it too. She also knows about my former gf in another state that still wants to get back with me because we never actually broke up. We only have distance between us.
The above is a good tool to make sure she's on her best behavior. Oh yeah, don't ever let them control you.

It was a joke. I was not equating gays to dogs. A dog will continue to lick the peanut butter without complaint. (Still joking :icon_bigg )
But seriously folks.....I love my wife....
I will say this and that will be the end of my commentary, If the people of any state vote for or against any gay marriage, union, bennies, etc. so be it as it is the will of the people.

Sorry man. Misunderstood. My local board had someone say something almost exactly like that and since we all know each other in real life, he got a whooping for making that comment.

My father-in-law. His girlfriend of 25 years died last year, with no will and her 2 kids from a previous marriage. They had a $300k house that they restored themselves by hand, an RV, and 2 cars.
Because he wasn't married, he now has nothing. The kids (mid-20's) sold everything and told him to beat it, so now he's mooching off the children he abandoned from his first marriage because he's got nowhere else to go. What's really sad is the fact that he still visits the kids of his dead girlfriend, not because he likes them, but because they're the only thing left of her.
$50 and two "I do's" and he'd be living in his house, driving his cars and living the rest of his life in comfort; instead of living like a stray dog.
Yes, wills and other legal manuvering can prevent this, but what b/f-g/f couples under 50 or 60 do you know that have those precautions in place? What about people under 30?
"We don't need the institution of marriage to prove our love, maaaaaaaaaaaan" won't be much of a comfort when you get hit by a bus and there are bills to pay.

fuck the fags, gays, whatever they are.
If being gay is not a choice, it has to be a genetic defect
The reality is that the fags and their sympathizers have infiltrated the schools and brainwashing kids to grow up and believe that being a fag is normal and acceptable. I hope they all die slow painful deaths as the result of AIDS :icon_mad:

You know what? I don't think it's normal, but they don't bother me, have evidenced that they are as good citizens and productive as any heterosexual, and I personally know many kind and decent faggots, so I couldn't give two fucks about what their personal life is like outside of their friendship with me.
Being a choice or not has zero impact.

Not sure if I'd ever get married but if I did you can be damn sure I'd have a pre-nup as far as my retirement accounts are concerned. I'm too old to start over and I'll be damn if someone thinks they're going to walk away with half my retirement. Not my fault if the bitch doesn't know how to save money.

"We don't need the institution of marriage to prove our love, maaaaaaaaaaaan" won't be much of a comfort when you get hit by a bus and there are bills to pay.
Sorry for your family's loss. My initial point is the primary reason for getting married is having kids. We don't plan on having any, so what's the point? If it works for you, by all means, but financial stability should be a primary factor before, not after you endeavor into any kind of relationship, marriage or anything else.
For me I started planning long ago for it and have been persistent enough to have the stability I need. I engaged my fiance, and we said we'd never take that extra step because it just wasn't a necessity. If I had I still wouldn't care. She came into this fine, and so did I so I doubt I'd even get a pre-nup anyway. Hell if either of us died it would be a push.
The problem we get into is we're all normal folks, with issues and things. Those should be taken care of prior. If you're doing well, and you're involved with someone with shitty credit, or has a bunch of bills, or is just irresponsible maybe that's not the one. I know the whole love thing takes control of things, and that's where we get blinded.
I simply worked my ass off a long time ago for the moments I'm living now. This is my unique situation, I know, but it really doesn't have to be.
