Here in Alabama we are quickly approaching a wonderful intersection of two great holidays, Martin Luther Coon,err King, Jr. day and Robert E. Lee's Birthday, both conveniently celebrated on the same day.

2007 Official State Holidays

The State of Alabama Official Holidays for 2007 are listed. Occasionally the Governor may designate other holidays (such as the day after Thanksgiving) but that is not established until a week or so before the day. The Alabama Board of Nursing office will be closed on these dates but online services are still available at www.abn.state.al.us.

They already celebrate "Lee / Jackson" day here in the glorious Commonwealth of Virginia. I think it's the Friday before Marting Luther Coon day is celebrated. I jokingly call it redneck day.
