Need some help, fast! Going to the city this afternoon and I need a suggestion on a good family restaurant in the Midtown area.

Any suggestions? Something kid-friendly.

Thanks

Theme Restaurants like ESPN Zone, Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock are noisy but pretty good I guess.

Tax Kuntz is right ESPN zone has pretty good food.

In the 57th Street area (near XM) there's The Brooklyn Diner

Stay away from Mars 2112. ESPN Zone is good. They have an arcade so your kids can play video games.

There is nothing like an 11 or 12 dollar hamburger in midtown. Even the fast food is two dollars more expensive than it should be. Take a bus down to the 20s or even up to the E70s and you will find better food for cheaper.

if you don't mind swinging down into Little Italy, there's always Paisano's.

Its pretty good.

Beat me to it. There's also Virgil's BBQ, not bad for the area (Times Square).

Virgil's is great and at a good price. I haven't been there in a while but I do remember grabing lunch with a beer there once for under $10.

ESPN is worth going, good food and reasonable prices (for NYC anyway), and like Martian said Mars 2112 blows. Not mentioned yet but try the Jekyl and Hyde Club my kids love that place. Food a little pricey but service was decent and the kids will get a kick out of the scenery, as well as the little shows they put on.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I just have to remember when travelling with little ones, plans can change in an instant.

Got off the train and both immediately started in unison with "I'm soooooo hungry", and didn't stop. Walked out onto 42nd street, started walking and ended up turning right into Friday's. Hey, nothing beats a $18 burger, but I knew what I was getting myself into.

You know, I was really skeptical about asking for suggestions and I thought I would've have at least gotten a couple around 110th.

Not mentioned yet but try the Jekyl and Hyde Club my kids love that place.

That was my first choice but they got too antsy, too quick. Plus I called before we left and it was first-come-first-serve, and I didn't want to chance an outrageous wait, especially on a Saturday night.

Thanks again for all the suggestions, I'm gonna file them away for my next trip down.

Don't overlook Junior's on 45th st either. Great traditional NY deli food
and not bad in price either. Since they built this one there's no need
to go to Brooklyn to get that great cheesecake they are known for.

110 street isn't terrible. 125+ is where you don't want to be. And harlem isn't as bad as everyone makes it seem... during the day. I've been there many times under the cover of the sun and it's no problem. They really made it more touristy than it should be. The Apollo is there, Clintons HQ is there and the triboro is there. I've also driven through at night and there is always a problem. The lastest was a fight infront of a rite aid that held up traffic.
