I agree. The whole "Jason Todd is BACK! As the Red Hood or something!" was dumb. I'm hoping it's like, a robot pretending to be Jason or something, I don't know, some retcon.... I heard that Brubaker writes one hell of a Captain America, haven't checked it yet though.
And Morrison's New X-men run was great, that Xorn reveal blew my mind. Shame that it got retconned away since the whole Magneto shooting Emma, getting hopped up on drugs, destroying New York, killing Jean, and getting his head chopped off by Wolverine seemed a little too "definitive" for Marvel's tastes... Aww well, Morrison did get a bit carried away I suppose.

I highly recommend the brubaker cap stuff. Also Wolverine 'enemy of the state' which is like 2 years old (and not by brubaker) at this point is a good read if you havent checked it yet
also brubaker did a 6 issue mini series called deadly genesis which IMO was the best xmen story in 15 years.
Also I hear brian bendis's daredevil stuff is top notch (another title that bored me when I was younger)
I agree towards the end of 'new xmen' it did get a little weak but I still thought he really did a great job of making xmen a little more adult with violence and psychological themes.

astonishing is a good line, I'm kinda scared after the initial run is over, since they haven't announced a replacement team.

I have to agree. It seemed to me a lot more polished and better produced. It also seemed to be a bit rushed because they had only an hour to cover and had to go to next topics faster. The flow was pretty good even between all the people. I am not really into al the things they were talking about but I can see that they could do a geek show very well. I doubt that there is enough people that listen to XM that would listen to it on a constant basis but if there are geeks out there that have XM then I can see Kev's Geek show ongoing.

It would go very nicely alongside of Lazlow's show, which is somewhat gadgety oriented. I think there's a lot of potential there. I think they need to lay off the figures just a little, at least in the beginning and stick with more movie and comic book stuff, because when you get into Sideshow, you are getting into a niche of a niche of a niche, and your audience is tiny at that point. But I know I enjoyed a bit of the Sideshow discussion.

Have to agree again. The show before or after Lazlows show would be a fit. The figures were a small thing and even I a novice knows that movies and comics are what people are passionate about. Calls are needed. I was expecting them to give the drawing to a caller and that would have been cool.

Thats the problem, when you have a 1 hour show and spend 39 minutes on who has the licence to make a figurine, thats not moving the show along.
But i will agree that Than and sam have zero chemestry and its all very forced sounding, where as big kev and crew sound like they acctualy speak to each other outside of the studio and have a clue about the topic. But no kind of chemesty will save a show when the topic is a nich of a nich of nich of a genre. It was well intentioned and obviously planned out (unlike T&S show)but turned in to wasted oppertunity by its complete lack of any entertainment for the listner.

I used to when young buy that stuff and I know many that do also still. It is a surprisingly robust business.
Have to agree that when there is an hour only then only a certain topic should be discussed and take callers. Can not cram too much into one hour.
Hearing Kev when he comes on the show I had doubts that his show would be any good but it was polished and decent flow and he seemed to have a grasp and he also seemed relaxed.
But as for me I am not that geeky and personally would not listen in weekly but do feel that Kev deserves props for a very good first show on a bigger medium than a podcast.

Geek Stuff put on a very organized and prepared show. While the material isn't for everyone, that was the point. And perhaps it felt like they spent a lot of time on a figurine or about licensing, but that wasn't really the case. The license item was part of the news and was only a couple of minutes. The figurine was a small segment and was not the focus of the show. With only an hour to do a show, it makes it difficult to really show what they can do. I listened to the podcasts before the XM Experience, and they are really a great show. And being a girl, I am surprised at how much I can follow. The Saturday Night Programming is not just for O and A materials, Geek Stuff is something DIFFERENT. And that's what made the show interesting, it was different from those trying to be like O and A, much like the show that preceeded Geek Stuff. But hey, to each his own, right?
Awesome job guys!
