Pat on XM Satellite Radio! Friday, January 05, 2007 I haven’t put up any blogs recently but I can’t not write about this one. 95% of the gigs you see HyJinX booked on are done to O and A, 95% of the set list are done to O and A, website updates, message boards messages, and pretty much everything I do for HyJinX minus playing the saxophone is done while listing to Opie and Anthony.
Yesterday I had to go into the city to check out a possible mastering house for the new CD to be mastered at. As usual I asked my brother to come along because we usually do city trips together so we can get Smoothie King for the train ride home. The night before last, my brother asked if he wanted to leave early and do the walk over with O and A. We hear about it all the time but have never seen it, so he figured we’re on the same block as the studio they broadcast from why not? We woke up at 6AM (when I’m usually going to bed) got some coffee and took an even earlier train then we planned on taking.
We waited outside the Free FM building where the walk over starts. We waited for about 20 Minutes then Opie, Anthony, lil Jimmy Norton, Club Soda Kenny, Erock, Sam, and several other members of the O and A staff came out to do the walk over. It was kool to see it actually happen. We got to the XM Studio and Opie invited everyone up (I thought he was fucking with us) we waited a few minutes and Club Soda Kenny came out and took us up to the studio. That’s when we got to meet Master Poe, kool guy, takes his job serious (as he should) but was really kool.
After getting cleared by Poe my brother and I sat down front row to check out the show live as it was happening. After about 15 minutes of trying to convince E-low to let them do box-o-cocks Roland went around to do a bit called “meet the audience”. They got done with everyone except for me and were going to go to break when lil sweet tited jimmy Norton said “Hey we forgot this guy” and asked if I wanted to be on air. All I could think of was HOT SHIT IM GONNA BE ON O AND A!!!! Over excited, egger, not so nervous but still a little to off the walls I got to talk on the air.
I said my name, where I was from and ripped right into Oh I know Brother Joe …..FALSE!!!! What I meant to say was, I know him indirectly, because we where suppose to meet him last month to talk about doing some shows together but it got cancelled cause someone fucked up at a bar and he didn’t want to deal anything but the one major problem he had (totally understandable) I didn’t say that because well as Anthony said later BORING! So that was name drop game point 1. Then we were talking and I remember a conversation that I had with my good friend and engineer George Marshal about how he wanted to give them a shout and say hi (he used to do sound for them at the Downtown) so I said that and well needless to say that was name drop game point 2. Then they where talking about the band and about the horns and Jimmy mentioned Billy Joel and the sax player and as you might have predicted name drop game point 3. Then I remembered yet another connection between myself and the Opie and Anthony show, and that was George our bassist, George went to school with E rock. and name drop game point 4 was made and Anthony called a yellow card on me for dropping LAST NAMES. I totally didn’t think about it and kinda felt like an ass not gonna lie, but it was kool. We moved on and Opie much to my surprise played heartbreaker on the air (I say “Much to my surprise” because he did throw Godsmack’s demo into the east river in Boston). And well they didn’t think it sucked …. Trust me if they did think so they would have let me know. It was so kool because the “HyJinX” went across the display on the XM radios” and across the worlds thanks to these guys . Everyone there was really kool and sent us on our way with a shit load of kool O and A gear.
Thanks so much to everyone at the O and A show for everything.

Biography
Debuted in May of 2001, the Long Island based Pop/Funk/Rock group Hyjinx, like most bands, has been through lineup, style, and fan base changes until finally settling on a style and group of friends that has a truly original and easily accessible sound that is enjoyed by everyone. Gaining fans and street team members at each show they play, Hyjinx has been taking the island as well as the northeast by storm and quickly becoming a widely recognized band with more than 20,000 free sampler CD's in circulation, an original full-length album that continually sells very well at every show, and a continual presence as a local opener for major acts and as a local headliner.
HyJinX is made up of seven talented musicians who truly understand what it takes to get people up and moving. Bryce Larsen (22), plays rhythm guitar, and sings all of the lead vocals. Pasquale Iannelli (20) handles the band's business, and plays the saxophone. David Calzone (22) plays trombone, and Brian Bunce (23) plays the trumpet and sings the majority of the backup vocals with George McRedmond (29) on bass guitar. Matt Giordano (22) plays lead guitar and Anthony Vito on drums gives the group the necessary pop backbone that really brings the group to a new level.
One of Hyjinxs most important achievements is the creation and management of a top of the line street team. Currently, the team has solid organizations in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Rhode Island, as well as scattered other states throughout the nation. The street team is the lifeblood of the band's powerful promotional force.
A vigorous performance and rehearsal schedule keeps HyJinX making contacts, friends, and fans continually everywhere they go, while also making them one of the tightest unsigned bands around. A HyJinX show is a high-energy experience that is as visually impressive as it is aurally. Some of their most recent achievements have been advancement to the final round of the IME battle of the bands in New York City,Performing twice with music industry and popular legend George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic, Performing for thousands of soccer fans at the half time of a NY Redbulls game at Giants Stadium, as well as numerous radio interviews and hundreds of performances under their belt!
As hundreds of concert and bar-goers across the northeast can tell you, Hyjinx is the next big thing!
