I have had the old unit for 4+ years and always wanted to upgrade but something always came up to prevent me from buying a new unit. After much debating I finally bought a Nexus 25 for $50( that price alone I could not pass up). I will miss my old unit, it actually got me out of a pretty hefty fine!

I've never even seen a Sony/XM unit like that one.

I currently have a skyfi 2 which I love.
the woman bought me a skyfi 3 for baby jesus' birfday but I haven't had a chance to get it installed yet. I still have to buy the hardwire kit for the car.
I can't wait to hook it up.
Does anyone have a skyfi3 and what is their impressions on it?

Wow. never seen one of those, either...and I bought mine a little less than 4 years ago.
The sony unit was the first"portable" unit. I got it the first year it was released and the retail cost was $300. I got the unit for free from a promotion that xm had with it's partners. The promotion was for a free unit, you got to choose from 3 different units, all you had to pay for was 6 months of service. I paid for the 6 months and got the next 6 free. Fantastic deal!

Sweet looking unit. I'll be upgrading my Roady2 to the S3, just waiting until MyRadioStore (http://www.myradiostore.com) gets all the goodies for it.

There's a 'special' SkyFi3 unit that has a rebate for a free headset with the built in antenna so you can make it totally portable. make sure you get that one.
speaking of accessories there is a new boombox/audio dock coming out for the skyfi3. Should be fuckin sick

I miss my XM Commander, which I notice was still for sale on myradiostore. That was a good unit for in the truck.

Is that an Inno? I'm not up on these things.
I have a Roady2. It's good, but the FM modulation sucks ass and I don't have a tape deck in my truck. Has the FM modulation improved on the Innos and newer units?

I bought a Nexus for $25 from a promotion through Woot.com. I really like it so far. I kept my Roady2 activated to use at my desk. The recording feature of the Nexus is pretty straightforward. I normally just record a block, then sort out all the commercials.

No, it is a Nexus. I to hate Fm modulation but my new car doesn't have a tape deck. I tried like hell to get a car with a tape deck and the sales people thought I was fucking nuts. I will find out tomorrow how the modulation is on the Nexus. I just bought the car kit, which costs more than the unit and is very hard to find in stores, and installed it tonight.

Yup I have been recording about 2 hour blocks on ethel and then sorting out what I want to save, which is pretty damn easy to do. I love this damn thing but feel guilty at the same time, i will miss that old unit. It got a lot of people I know to go out and buy xm radios.

You cannot transfer XM recorded material (music, O&A, etc.) to your pc.
BUT, using the correct type of cable & software you can play the audio from your Inno, and record it ON your pc.

That new boombox might clinch it for me, I was thinking of an inno, but the SkyFi3 looks awesome and more up my alley. This is a good radio from what i've read up on it at 411.

you can buy a hardwire kit for about $20 + installation, it makes the modulation better and you dont have any of those icky wires sticking out all over the place

if the live kit has good reception its definitely a better buy if you have a car. its also records just like the inno/helix plus has a mini sd card slot that can hold a ridiculous amount. the boombox probably wont be out for a few months. I think the skyfi3 takes the new passport card, and theyre making stereos that take the passport so you can just keep your sub on the little chip, might wanna look out for that

Same here. I keep my myfi in my car now, and use the Nexus to record in home. Two accounts but fuck it, I like XM too much. The Nexus actually fits inside of my pocket now too... that Myfi is fucking huge!

I'm seriously considering the SkyFi 3 to compliment my 3 SkyFi 2's and my MyFi. But it may have to wait as xmas and Miami cost me a shitload of money and I should pay that off first.

Blee, how was the modulation on the Nexus? My MyFi took a shit on me yesterday, and I would like to upgrade. Main thing for me though is the modulator, as I currently record the show in my car while at work, then bring the unit into my office and play it over my desk radio via the modulator. Would I be able to do all this with the Nexus?
Thanks in advance :)
I had to take off my car's antenna so I could get a clear signal. The Nexus is great but it has it's faults, like you have to leave the unit on to record a scheduled recording while in the car dock. If you want to do the same thing you did with your MyFi you will need to buy the car kit because the Fm modulation only works on that cradle.

so it won't transmit a signal unless its plugged into a cradle?

Yeah. Your only other choice is to get an external FM mod that plugs into
the headphone jack. Belkin makes a nice one.
