This (new?) club in times square friended me on myspace and must be culling friends from either carolines' or comedy cellar's pages. Thing is I NEVER heard of this place or any of the hack comedians that are on their lineup. By the description it's more a "mainstream" or "family oriented" joint, but why are they trying to go after other clubs patrons? I'm sure a lot of wackbaggers who are friends of comedians and/or comedy clubs get this kind of shit a lot, but this one really baffled me.

I know, and as I said there's lots of soliciting going on on myspace but a family club soliciting from a place like the cellar is baffling.

Its not a family club, the early shows are like PG13/R... The later shows are R/XXX. They are in times square and with the family foot traffic you keep it cleaner till later in the night.

I think the place is a mainly a burger joint with a back wall with a spot light and a 6 inch stage....mainly guys you would never hear of...some are not funny. Went there in college when I didn't know better places. I remember was cheaper than other clubs, but you get what you pay for.
best value is actually the comedy cellar, although you need to sit in another persons lap practically. Carolines gets the great comics...but you can drop 2 C notes there without really thinking about it for a couple.
Comedy clubs shouldn't be over a $100 for a couple...it's usually $20-$25 bucks a person, sometimes more, with a 2 drink min, but the drinks run $9 and up...so it ends up being about $50 bucks a person with only the minimum and entry. Gotham is expensive too....saw Colin Quinn there and got slammed with $150 bucks...yes I'm a heavy drinker, but whatever.
I've also been to Stand Up NY on the upper west side and saw Rich Voz and Nick DaPallo there recently....saw Nick Dalpallo where there were 15 people there in a place that holds probably 70...
that's my rant...anyway i'm outta here.
