I'm looking to go to Atlantic City this weekend and want to get info on what's the best (and/or most affordable) place in AC to stay at.

Express buses worth it? seem cheap...

Do you need a car in AC or can you cab it around town?
Borgota seems expensive for my blood...anyone have any insight? it would be much appreciated.

The Taj is a dump, but its MY dump... and has the best poker room in the city. Well, I haven't seen the Borgata's room since they moved it.

If you are not staying at the Borgota, stay home. The town is a dump.

You can get cabs around and the jitney which runs up/down Pacific Ave to all the casinos. Any of the casinos will be more then any hotel. There is a Holiday Inn beachblock Chelsea Ave that is clean and next to Tropicana. If you dont mind hookers on the corner at night. The Borgata is the nicest place to stay though..

Stalker Patti can tell you all about the jitney.

I recommend staying in Absecon and making the 5 minute drive to the Borgata. Plenty of nice, clean, new hotels there which cost alot less.

if you dont want to spend much stay at tropicana, the standard rooms are clean and cheap and not really small at all. It really depends what your looking for as far as table games and minimum bets so you should go online and check that stuff out but showboat and resorts casinos I thought werent as depressing as trop but the trops "Quarter" shopping place was actually kinda nice. dont expect a lot of glitz, AC is all about the gambling. cabs will get you anywhere and a lot of the hotels are in walking distance, a few of them have indoor walkways to each other (not the trop).

what she said...and if you are a poker player call the trop and ask if there is a poker player rate...they sometimes run this special and will give u a good rate if you spend x amount of hours playing poker

The man speaks the truth. I grew up 10 mins from AC, and avoided that city like the plague. I still only go there when there's a show I really want to see (like Jimmy).

another good thing about tournament poker, or high stakes cash games is you get genuine booze for free, none of that watered down crap, so you save a little cash on that if you last long enough

The Borgota has some of the best booze. Go there for great free drinks and although I've never played in the poker room over there, I have seen it and it is absolutely amazing. The same goes for the horse betting room.

I also grew up 10 minutes off shore and we never went to AC. Not for the gay ass pageant not for anything. There is nothing there worth seeing!
I work in AC everyday. It is a DUMP and always has been. Just stay inside where everything is shiny and nice. No need to go any further. There is NOTHING to see I promise you. Unless you like trash filled housing projects then by all means venture away from the safe compounds that are the casinos......

the tropicanna has a cool new restaurant cluster

Also, Ceasars just opened up a new mall that goes int o the ocean
on the top floor there is some great restaurants and a great view of the ocean, beach and AC

Borgotta is expensive with nice places to eat, but you will have to cab i to go any where else. it is isolated.

you can walk on the boardwalk to get to most places, especially if it is nice out

the town is still a dump 1 block off the boardwalk, but the shops, night clubs, and restaurants have vastly improved in the last couple years

I always find cheap tables at the Wild West part of Bally's

While you're there, you might want to check out the pawn shops. I hear there are TONS of great buys to be had there.

I stayed at the Trop about 3 weeks ago for $150 on a Friday night> Every other casino was at least $399.

Angel speaks the truth. As far as what the city has to offer. NOTHING. Summer time ok. Winter is brutal.

As far as the Borgata goes, sure its nice, but its fucking casino. They all offer free booze, which you should stay away from like the plague.

They all offer pretty good comps, especially the places on the boardwalk, because there is so much competition for your gaming dollar. Just get a card and remember to use it.

Good luck Bro

If you do venture out of a casino there are a few places to eat that are better then most casino joints. Chef Vola is located in the beach block of Albion Place. You need a reservation & its byob but it is the best place in AC. Italian its Cafe 2825 located at 2825 Atlantic Ave a block from TropWorld. And if you want super cheap food there is the Baltimore Grill @ Iowa & Atlantic Ave next to TropWorld.

On weekends you could spend all night trying to find lodging under 300 bucks. do yourself a favor... Use an online hotel finder service... They dont tell you wich hotel your getting but it gives the star rating... Last time for Lil jimmys show i only paid 100.00 bucks for the Hilton. cant beat it...

you can grab a cab from there to borgada or trump marina... or the boardwalk and do free jitneys up n down to any casino ya want.

I was just there between xmas and new years. Stayed at the Sheraton - right across the street fromt he convention center. Was with in walking distance (3 blocks) from a few major casinos, and right on the strip where all the outlet stores were. I didnt see one hooker walking the streets in that area. The Jitney is $2 I think, I didnt use it and a cab to the borgota was $12. The hotel was nice, but nothing fantastic. No fridge....Was about $150 a night.

Just thought I'd throw this in. A cab from the Borgata to the boardwalk (Taj area) will run you 15 -20 bucks. Getting a cab is very easy from the street entrance of any casino.

me and af stayed at a suite in resorts. Not bad at all, especially since we only stayed in there to fuck.
The good thing about resorts is that it is connected to two other hotels so you basically have 3 casinos to choose from without having to go outside.

And as far as restaurants go the quarter in tropicana has some nice joints
Theres a crab house, Red square (which is oriental I believe) and carmens, which if your going with a few people is nice, food is pretty good and the portions are HUGE, so big that we went with 8 people and ordered 3 main courses and had alot of leftovers to bring home.
The chicken scarpariell is great
