Changes on WEDG in Buffalo...

Maybe all the bitching is starting to pay off. I've mentioned in other threads that WEDG didn't have any O&A dedicated pages on their website like the Philly FreeFM station has. I've notced with the new year that when you click on the "Opie and Anthony" button on WEDG's main page (http://www.wedg.com/main.html) you get a couple of new WEDG pages...

Their directions to get WEDG WOW stickers, makes me think they are actually working on getting these stickers to the WNY fans. Also, this is what they actually look like... I picked up a couple from that strip club they bought the advertising package to get them printec up in the first place. Notice how BIG the station LOGO is on the sticker (it takes up half the sticker)...

I heard the first hour of the S&R show when they came back from vacation on Monday, and they mentioned Val had moved to WHTT. I liked her, and was sorry to see her go. Now Bull has taken over her spot, and his "ON AIR" logo is the one that appears during O&A's time slot. For some reason, they still have lost the O&A ON AIR LOGO. They also mentioned during that first hour they have a NEW program director, they hired from within the company. Maybe they realized "Evil Jim" was just too close to the S&R show to remain impartial. Maybe they gave him a choice... "Either be an on air personality, or be a program director."

Who ever finally made these changes to the WEDG station... I applaud it. Here is the audio link from that first hour of the Monday S&R show announcing some of the new year changes...

I wan't sure about the Evil Jim, part... why did they say they got a new producer? "Producer" of what? Is it just another figure head position that does nothing? Is it a producer for the S&R Show? Someone they can easily fire if one of their bits goes too far?

"SabreRule"... you seem to have the inside track to these guys. Why would S&R encourage people to break the law and possibley get arrested in another country by having people piss on the CN Tower? I know it sounds humorous on the surface, but encouraging listeners to break the law for prizes is what got O&A in trouble for the Sex for Sam (or Son of Sam:icon_wink) III stunt. How many other Buffalo O&A fans heard this and cringed with the possible repercussions? They actually talked about possible bonus points if you got yourself arrested and could offer proof of it. I didn't listen to all of yesterday's show to hear the stories... but S&R are just asking to get fired at this point.

... if you smoosh it down to a standardize bumper sticker reactangle, you will get what the actual WOW sticker looks like. The Edge logo takes over quite a portion of it.

When they were first creating it, I received an email from the AD guy asking me if they ever place the advertiser logo on any WOW stickers. So they wanted to place a "Phoroah's Gentleman's Club" logo on there as well before I informed them it would NOT be a good idea.

So "Sabre'sRule"... how many points did you end up with for "The Canadian Invasion Contest"? Did you get any good video of you pissing on the CN Tower? Any good stories of you getting arrested by the OPP's? :action-sm

I wanted to post that fact today in a new thread, but I will wait until I can get the audio from the S&R audio library... (it seems they are a couple days behind posting their podcast audio).

I see you posted right after S&R talked about the WEDG ratings across the board. They mentioned that Buffalo is pulling numbers during the O&A timeslot, that puts them in second in the most strongest numbers in all the cities O&A are being broadcast in.

It's funny, though, this morning I am tuned into listening to the WEDG version of the show, and during the last break when they came back, O&A were in the middle of talking about the Buffalo ratings. Way to go Jim... do your typical slow to come back to the show, while they are talking directly to the Buffalo market. Just get on the ball already and stop the bullshit. I still see the "Bull ON AIR" logo on during the O&A time slot. You guys are blowing up across the board... just stop the petty bullshit and embrace the ratings. I am going to have to wait until later to listen to my "myfi" audio recording of the show to hear the FULL Buffalo O&A ratings discussion by Opie and Anthony.

I did follow the directions to get the Buffalo WOW stickers yesterday, and went to the station to get some stickers. The front desk didn't have any WOW stickers at the desk, and seemed annoyed that she didn't have any. I told her I wanted a small stack, if I could, and she called up and asked for them to send as many WOW stickers down as they can. A guy showed up shortly with two HUGE stacks... HUNDREDS. So the front desk at...

These new WOW stickers do have a nice EDGE station logo on it that would show up nicely on local broadcasts. BuffaloCharlie is on his own... so who knows if the newscasts will ever be caught on tape, though.

I am encouraged by these new developments, but I think there are still people behind the scenes that hate the fact that O&A are succeeding as well as S&R are. I hope WEDG is smart enough to find those people and cut them out like the cancer they are. The web shit can be fixed in a second... DO IT before they fire your ASS! :icon_evil
