I've got one issue with him...
His book... "How to Act Like a Man" or whatever the fuck it's called. He should change the title to... "How to Act Like an Old Italian Man."
Like I'm going to wear a pinkie ring and French cologne, get a manicure, and put Frank Sinatra music on when I'm bangin' a chick. :icon_roll
Yeah... that'll happen.

I put on Disney Radio and a Kentucky cologne called Jack. I use the Mike Damone five point plan, I act like wherever I am, that's the place to be, and when it comes down to making out, whenever possible, I put on side one of Led Zeppelin IV.

It's not like I've got anything against the guy... he's a great actor, been in some classic roles/scenes, he's a cool customer, etc...
But he's going to write the book telling the world what it takes to be a "man's man", and get chicks? With tips like... wear French cologne and get a manicure. There's only one thing a man who wears French cologne deserves to get, and that's his ass kicked. Who's going to tell me different? Any of you "man's men" going to own up to smelling like a French whore and getting your nails done? Anybody?

I'm not about to go get my nails done or buy French cologne, but I think Mr. Vincent's point is that you can like classy stuff and take care of yourself without sacrificing masculinity, which is what the pseudo-fags known as "Metrosexuals" do.
I haven't read the book, so I don't know for sure. It just seems like what he would be offering is a chance for guys who like football to branch out and find a couple really nice restaurants and to trade in the old college sweatshirt for a suit every now and again.
Me, I don't have a problem with that. Now, getting manicures, on the other hand, is a bridge too far. But what do I know.

He was in Drum and Bugle Corps. He wasn't just a band geek, he was a D&B geek. They're the guys who spend their summers doing marching band shit just for the sake of doing marching band shit.
As a former high school and college band geek, this makes me happy. I have hope now that I can grow up to be a manly man.

I can tell you why Frank was great today. It wasn't like the first two times where he was there to plug (which was great any way).
Today he was in to hang first and foremost, then get in a plug at the end. It's like the old days where guests come in to hang.

Regardless of what he did in school, he grew up around those types of guys. Thats why hes so good in his roles.
And yes, he probably tags more hot young ass then youll ever see.
Best of all, he "gets" the show.

Drum corps is a little harder than marching band. I marched for years and it was awesome. I got pussy on the bus between shows and it was great doing something worth wild. I marched with the Crossmen in 1996.
Anyways, no pshop skills here for Bob Kelly blowing Frank Vincent? Anthony dropped the gauntlet.

Frank kicked some major ass today, but I'm not sure he's 3d mic worthy. I'd worry that having him in all the time on third mic would turn it into the Wiseguys show and would turn WBL into a Mussolini freak instead of Der Fuhrer.

OK... Sorry to get off subject...
To VMS, I think it was when you referred to the activity as "D&B" that you eliminated any chance of growing into a manly man. :action-sm
To Mayday, I would argue that drum corps is no "harder" than marching band. The Crossmen perform at a higher level than most marching bands because they are one of the top groups. I would argue that drum corps is, in fact, easier than many marching bands because (in many corps) you spend the entire summer working on a single show. I watched a few hours of a major corps rehearsal last summer on July 4th (I'm a school band director, so sue me). They sounded kind of crappy. I had expected and hoped for them to sound pretty good. I had gone to watch the rehearsal for entertainment, not to critique them. (I had also hoped to pick up any tips I could. The only thing I learned is that after being away from my wife for three weeks, I should not be allowed to watch color guard rehearsal) By the end of the summer, however, they had improved a lot (enough to place top 10 and beat the hell out of Crossmen :action-sm at DCI Championships).
Edit: Oh yeah... Frank Vincent is the MAN! Really great guest today.

Like others have said, it was the comfort that made today's show so good. They all were hanging out shooting the shit. It had a natural feel and flow to it. I was catching up on yesterday's R&F during the live show and saw his name up for so long on the PAD data and it worried me something was getting beaten into the ground. When I finally heard on the replay, i was wrong and thoroughly enjoyed his appearance... on both sides of the show.
P.S. I wouldn't say 3rd mic, but appearances like today I welcome anytime

Great. Band geeks can turn a Frank Vincent thread into a band geek discussion.
It was TIC, fellas. As my friends in college put it, "It's only band" or "It's only one credit."
The competitive aspect is a nice outlet for young people who can't (or don't want to) play sports, but let's not take to too seriously, either.
I was just contrasting the stereotype of the nerdy band geek with Frank.

The whole appearance was cool but the acting of Steve C's lines had me laughing my ass off.
Do you think Frank Vincent wears a sport coat and shiny shoes even when he's on the tread mill or something like that?

Frank IS the man. Period.
