The deadline is more than a month away but rumors are going around. The biggest, at this point, is that it looks like Kidd will be traded.
There was a deal today. Al Harrington, Sarunas Jasikevicius, Josh Powell, and Stephen Jackson to Warriors for Troy Murphy, Ike Diogu, Keith McLeod, and Mike Dunleavy (http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory?id=2802446&CMP=OTC-RSSFeeds0312)
I think my Pistons will make a deal, especially since that waste of space Nazr Mohammad isn't happy. I'm hearing Marko Jaric and MoPete.
The Heat will probably make a deal. They need a spark, even with Shaq's return. This team doesn't want to defend a title in the 8th playoff spot.

What is up with Kidd always being traded? You could make an argument for him being one of the best players in the NBA and yet he always seems to be on the trading block. He does not come off as an asshole so I am not sure what is going on here. Did I miss something about this guy?

He's had beef with the organization apparently. I dont know specifics but I know the Daily News said he was butting heads with Nets brass. Between that and his personal problems (hes going through an ugly divorce) they are looking to move him while they can still get some value for him.
Oh yeah and..

Kidd's getting old, and going through an ugly divorce. They probably just want to wipe their hands clean of him. They aren't winning a title with this core anyway. Matching contracts will be tough, and they'll probably go young and picks. You aren't getting equal value but a few good young players will help your future.
Wouldn't be shocked to see Carter get shipped either. I'm not sure they'll make a move before the deadline. The only thing i've seen was some sort of Pau Gasol for Carter rumor, but i'm not sure how legit the source was. I'd make that move, i'm a huge Gasol fan.

Could be something to that. Gasol has been making noise about wanting to leave Memphis. Also, I believe Eddie Jones is coming off the books next year (free agent) So the Grizz could use Carter at SG.
However, good C are at a premium so we will see...

He would make a great wide receiver or QB, I think. Kidd is awesome even if he is an asshole.

A few from SI.
According to three NBA executives, the Pacers are now in talks to move Mike Dunleavy to the Clippers for dynamic swingman Corey Maggette. Indiana has been after Maggette since last season when they were looking to trade Ron Artest.

I'd do that any day.
An unsubstantiated internet rumor about Kevin Garnett and the Knicks highlights a package of Channing Frye, Nate Robinson, Jamal Crawford and a 2008 first-round pick. However, a league official said the Knicks have been quiet on the trade front recently.
-- New York Post
Doubt it. The NY media is one big gossip cluster fuck and every big name is reported to "be interested in coming" or is "on their way to NY."
Eddie Jones would like to follow the same blueprint as Chris Webber: Escape from a team that has a shot at the No. 1 overall draft pick to an organization that can contend for an NBA title. Jones, now playing for the Grizzlies, admitted last night that there was a chance he could be waived.
-- Philadelphia Inquirer
The Cavs are likely to attempt to make some sort of move before the Feb. 22 trade deadline, although it is hard to forecast how major it could be. They are on the lookout for a point guard, but don't want to damage the stability being built in their core. The team may have some interest in guard Sarunas Jasikevicius, who was traded from the Pacers to the Warriors.
