It seems like everytime Ron or Fez asks (or more specifically, tells) Earl to do something that should already be done, Earl comes back with "We can definitely do that."

No matter what it is, Earl throws the "definitely" thing out - only problem is, the only definite about his performance is that he'll definitely fuck up and definitely not hold himself accountable - despite his other favorite phrase "I take full responsibility."

"Yeah, Ronnie. We can definitely break independent acts." Only the next four days, he plays "little-known indie acts" like David Bowie, the Rolling Stones, Steely Dan, etc.

Anyone else sick of Earl's new phrase? I really wish he'd embrace the Saphire persona - it would really open the door for at least 3 more things to say during the show, bringing his total to a staggering 5.

Oh Man, you obviouslly don't remember the O&A show WNEW Earl. The Earl that would get lost EVERY TIME going to sticker stops, The earl that took All Frigging day to hang a few pictures which he did wrong and Ant redid in 15 minutes. The Earl that would find dark corners in which to hide so as not to be asked to do anything. And most importantly, the earl that, whenever questioned or put against a wall, would lash out, throw things, and leave. This guy's full of defense mechanisms like starting the answer to every question with the word no. He treats every question as an indictment or allegation and attempts to "deflect" any possible blame by answering starting with NO. as in "you must be mistaken"

Does it make entertaining radio? Certainly. Does Ronnie emphasise earl's short comings for comedic effect? Yes. But to suggest that Earl is some kind of "Character" or bit developed for the show is to be ill-informed.

Oh and PS, the preceding is not to be taken as a slam against Earl. I like him, I think he's good for the show but his Hang-Ups are indeed genuine.

He hates everyone on the show, and only fears Ronnie. I don't think he even respects Fez.

And he doesn't get it, he doesn't get anything about his show, he wouldn't listen to his own show if he wasn't on it... This was thoroughly evident on Friday when he was still angry at Rider after about the best show ever.

He's semi-retarded, makes for awful wonderful radio, and you can't help but love him.

If he truly was that incompetant as a producer he would not be there, There are thousands of people that would love to be in Earl's spot, that are more than competant and capable.

No one here is saying that Earl can't do the job, but that doesn't mean he won't fuck certain things up here and there too. Which isn't to say the independent music thing wasn't a bit but I think when he does the "definetly" thing there is a good amount of reality to it.
