I bet it has alot to do with Dallas keeping TO. That was never a parcells move to begin with, it was all Jerry Jones meddling.
I can't say I blame the Tuna for leaving, there's just too much shit to deal with there distracting, mainly TO. Jerry Jones and TO are enough.

I hope for his sake he sits out for more than a year...but I've got no doubt, he'll be back in the NFL by 2008 or 2009. I wonder if he'll want to come back to the Giants at some point

He really screwed them by taking so long. Most of the attractive candidates have been scooped up. I think Jim Mora would have been the best choice, but I heard over the weekend that he went to Seattle to be Mike Holmgren's poop boy/successor.
Edit - If he goes back to coaching, the only job I see him taking is the Giants job in 2008. Nobody really thinks Coughlin is going to last 2 more years, do they? Actually, maybe the best choice for him may be the Chargers job, although I've kind of got Cowher pegged for that one.

Unfortunately for Dallas fans it is true, he may have taken long. But he probably did it like that as a final FU to Jerry Jones and his Cowboys.
Hey Joe, wouldn't it be fucking funny if the Raiders can't find anyone willing to take that job and they hired Art Shell again!

I think you are forgetting about a guy named Ron Rivera.

I think you are forgetting about a guy named Ron Rivera.
I'm assuming you're not forgetting that Mr. Rivera will be pretty busy for the next 2 1/2 weeks. Super Bowl Coordinators rarely get hired the year they go to the big game, because it severely handicaps the hiring team's preparation for Draft Day. You know, the way Parcells just screwed the Cowboys. They're already behind the 8-ball, I don't see them waiting the additional 2 weeks.
Rivera's not getting hired this year, but should be at the top of the list for the half dozen or so jobs that will be open next year. My early picks:
Giants
Chargers
Bills
Browns
Lions
Raiders (pretty much have to put them on here every year now)
Jaguars
Cowher will get first dibs on the most attractive job, which I feel is the Chargers. Great weather, great talent, weak division. The Giants will make a hard press for Pete Carroll or Parcells but will probably end up with Norm Chow, unless the Cowboys steal Fischer and Chow gets the Titans' gig instead. I think the Bills will go with Mike Martz after nearly a decade of struggling to move the ball.
I'm thinking Rivera would best fit in on the Lions, or maybe the Jags. I pray for his sake he doesn't go to the Browns or Raiders...

Another tradition-rich franchise that is close to his family...but I'm biased :icon_mrgr

I think Cowher may try to ply his trade in the NFC next chance he gets.
