How amazing is it that this team has made it to the Super Bowl? The D is giving up points, they have a terrible O, and they are in "the big game"?

I wouldn't go that far at all. There have been plenty of teams that have been worse than this Bears team that have made it to the Super Bowl.

The 2000 Giants was a pretty bad team.

Yeah, they looked awful last week against the Saints, what was the final score again?? 39-14. Terrible Offense and even worse defense in that game. But at least your objective and not biased. Tool.:fight6:

I don't know if that's really fair. They had the conference's best record that year, a just above average offense and a top 5 defense. If you're talking about performance in the Super Bowl, yeah they're probably one of the worst but the team overall was not bad at all.

Your post was perfect up until this point. Then you showed how un-objective and biased the rest of your post was.

Da Bears lost to Miama (6 and 10 record) 31-13 and Green Bay (8 and 8 record) 26-7. They also lost to New England, who just lost last week to Indy. They are more than capable of losing to the Colts.

Shit, I did forget about the Stealers last year. That being said, this Bear team has to be in the top 5 as far as worst Super Bowl teams go.

Yeah.......
I remember the good ol' days when a team had to have a solid defense and a running game to make it to the superbowl, not just a quarterback who could make 40+ yard passes.
wait....
Stop bying into all the media hype about how bad the Bears are, they played solid all year. (stop pointing out losses, unless you are a '72 dolphin)
This will be a good super bowl, and I hope the Bears win, cuz I am tired of Payton Manning

I have seen them play, it is not just media hype. The D is pretty good, at times. But if D is all you need, where are the Ravens? There offense is terrible. Awful QB, below avg. RB, avg. receivers, at best. And the D is not playing up to potential. I guess it is just me.

D is all the Ravens had in 2000. Where were they then? Unless you consider that Trent Dilfer led offense as a juggernaut. I think the Colts are going to win, but I wouldn't underestimate the Bears. They are nowhere near the worst Super Bowl team ever. That distinction probably goes to the 94 Chargers.

Right again. Thomas Jones and Cedric Benson are both awful. And some of the catches that Berian and Muhammad have made mean nothing. And Grossman sucks, he had three or four real bad games, not like he had about ten good to great games. And the defense hasn't dominated at all. I mean, it's not like they shut down the number 1 offense in the league last week.
Give me a break. Admit it, you just hate the Bears, and you are insanely jealous they are in the Super Bowl while your awful team sits at home.

Don't discount the Bears, Yea there QB is avg. But the run game is far superior to any team out there. The D tough but lacks in the secondary. There were Not the Number 1 team for nothing. And I am a die hard Colts fan. And the Colts have arguably the best QB to ever play the game. Mannings ability to read the Def. is magic to watch.Addai more than makes up for what James left. Also the way the Colts eat that clock up when they have a lead. To me this is a very close matchup.

It should be a close pretty close game. If the colts have a two score lead near the start though, then the bears won't have a chance. I don't know though. Should be pretty interesting game to watch unlike most of the Super Bowls.

I vote that this thread is really just a trap to try and get OL' Bloody Bottom to make a porno-stache/Super Mario Bro's joke to get him banned again. Don't take the bait Ol' Bloody, you don't want to be kicked off before the Super Bowl.

A thread like this one could indeed result in someone taking some time off. Let's hope we don't see any others.
Edit : Having seen some New Evidence (http://www.wackbag.com/showthread.php?t=59881), This one's re-open.
I don't want to hear about baiting from anyone anymore. If you're going to complain about being baited over football, don't then go and start a baiting thread.

I wouldn't go that far. While I would love to say that and lash out at them after beating my beloved Saints. I will say that they've been a very inconsistent team. Sometimes their defense is absolutely amazing, other times they are getting steamrolled. Same with Grossman. He's had some games where he can hurl it down the field at will, other games he looks like Aaron Brooks. But if the good Bears come out on Sunday, I think they'll smoke the Colts. Which I hate to say, because I'm pulling for the Colts, but it's the truth.

Nah, the Bears aren't as bad as the 79' LA Rams. They're not one of the worst teams to make it either. Chicago shouldn't be seen like this or underestimated as they are and have been the NFC's best all year long.
I know the NFC pretty much was crap, but they were the best of the conference. So we'll see what happens.
I think some of the weaker SB teams are the first 2 AFL teams, they were outclassed by the NFL teams clearly and were weak. 66' Kansas City and 67' Oakland. The way some people are talking you'd think this years Chicago Bears were a weak awful AFL team, which is silly.

1985 Patriots.
The only player worth a damn on that team was the great Andre Tippett*. That Super Bowl could have been the all-time greatest if the Dolphins went on to play in it, the only team to beat the Bears that year. But the Pats pulled an unlikely upset on a wet, shitty field and only made the Bear's Super Bowl run that much easier. (I doubt any team would have beaten the Bears in that game but it would have at least been a better match-up.)
* I take that back. Steve Grogan, although way past his prime, was still pretty good and I forget if John Hannah still played but if he did then he gets included as well. He was one of the greatest linemen ever. But the Pats still blew.

That Pat team won out on the road, didn't they? Pretty impressive playoff run. They did get stomped in the Bowl though. My friends and I went out for an 8 ball at half time we where so board.

Da Bears!
Bwaaaa haaaaa haaaaa.
Rex Grossman!
Bwaaaa haaaaaa haaaaaa.
ESPN must have been right.
They had every God damn thing going for them from the opening kickoff and Grossman did everything he could to lose it. He sucks donkey dick. Get it Bears fans? You will never win anything with that piece of shit.
