MOD EDIT:
Hi everybody,

After talking with some of the folks going to this thing I've taken the liberty of calling around to find a hotel for us to stay at. I've gotten us a group rate at the Hampton Inn in Leighton, PA (about 10 minutes away). Rate is $109/night for a king size room or two queens (not too bad if you split it with friends). If we get 10 rooms, we'll get the group rate, otherwise it'll be $119/night.

The Hampton is right off major highways, the rooms have high speed internet access, and they offer breakfast as part of the rate. Also they have an indoor pool and whirlpool (pool party Saturday nite, anyone??).

If you are interested in staying there, call 1-610-377-3400 and ask for the "Pest Paintball" group rate. Rooms are already getting filled so if you want to stay there book as soon as you can.

Glenn, you will be given a marker called the Tippman 98. It is a mechanical paintball marker that most fields use for the sake of the fact they are very easy to maintain. They take a beating, keep shooting and get cleaned out by running under water at the end of the day. For all intense purposes they are considered entry level markers. In our case if we are playing as a private group I'm guessing I will be one of few, if the only who owns my own equipment and who plays on a very regular basis. I give you my word I won't come out and light everybody up, it's just not cool. Paintball is a great sport and the last thing I want is for someone to play once and not play again because I couldn't let up. To answer your question yes there are people out there with experience that will get on the field and let the "newbies" have it. I'm guessing in this case we won't be in this situation. I hope you make the trip, paintball is a ton of fun and I'm really looking forward to meeting all that go.

It should be kept at all stock, cause the guns that I used will light the sky up. I don't think it will be fair. Better guns shoot far, straighter, and more rapid. Wait, I kinda like to light the lamp. Just Say'In!

Can not go as I will be in Vegas that week.

As far as the unfair gun thing, that is a legit concern, but I went for the first time in January, and was able to compete at some level even as a noob with that crap gun, so you should go. If anything, I suggest you go out and bye a facemask before you go. THAT is an unfair advantage. I was unable to see anything early on as it was very humid (and about 65 degrees in January for Christ sake) in the morning and the fog on the face shield was insane. I went and bought the anti fog spray they sold, but it only helped a bit. The old crappy masks are scratched and dirty, this attracts the fog. Go out and get one of these new masks that have a bigger view and have anti fog glass.

Its not the scratches that make the lens fog, its the fact that they are single pane, non-thermal lenses. If any of you are going to purchase your own mask, which I highly suggest you do only look at masks that use a thermal lens. Basically it is a two pain lens with an air gap in the middle so the temperature of the outside pain cannot effect the inner.

As for the the marker issue, again, it is a valid worry. I will be bringing my marker, the reason for this is simply I use it so much it is very difficult for me to use anything else. Yes, I am experinced at paintball, but I've been shot by a first time player before, using rental equipment. It happens, I'm not ashamed to admit it and I'm sure I'll get shot up quite a bit at this event. To those of you who are still a little worried please don't, the last thing myself, or any of the other players with their own equipment want is for anybody to have a shitty day out on the field and never want to play again.

I can't wait...trying to convince a friend of mine who recently came home from Iraq to come join the fun :) And hubby and I bought guns and are going to practice. Although if I suck really bad, maybe I'll just play medic :)

P.S. Can the hotel info be stickied as part of the top message in this thread??

That's pretty close. I lived in Lehighton from 1998-2000. Skirmish is about 10 min from the center of Jim Thorpe, so the hotel is about 20 min away. If anyone needs any directions. Hit me up.

Since you guys are organizing it, that's fine. It just might be a pain in the ass to lug personal guns and the stock ones.

Not sure if you have ever been to Skirmish, but they run busses from the center out to the fields and then we jump from field to field. You wont be able to leave your gun in the car and go get it later.

I blocked 10 rooms to start (they only have ten double queen nonsmoking rooms available) but told her that it could be upwards of 20. She said to book as early as possible. Note that they have a decent cancellation policy (6pm day of arrival) so if you're thinking of going, you may want to make the reservation, then release it later if the date doesn't work for you.

For beer you can only buy it in bars (6 and 12 packs) and beer distributors (6, 12, cases, kegs). All other alcohol is sold in liquor stores. No alcohol is sold in grocery stores.

I moved last week and some of the movers said they may want to play...I gave them my info so we may have some more people. They're O&A fans but aren't on any of the boards (yet...but I sent them to the 'Bag of course!)

I'm so excited...I have a group of six (including a friend who was an MP in Iraq) and they should've registered by now, I gotta get on them.

This is going to be a kick-ass weekend!

It double sucks for us, we are going to have to bail on PP this year. We're not going to the Hold 'em tourney either...we're being killed by some issues in our new house, and we're going to have to renovate the laundry area to address water problems we've had since we moved here a month ago. That weekend's all we got to get it done, so we're sitting out both events. It blows, I'm not happy...all I can say is fuck. Next time we're in though...I didn't buy gear and practice for nuttin' :)

I sent a PM to Glenn Dandy awhile back about trying this again this year. Since we're in the summer and with PNC coming up in August I was thinking of holding off until September. If we can get plenty of interest I can attempt to put this together. Let me know if there is any interest in this, either here or through PM kids.

Ok, well I'll start looking up some places. I think I'm going to rule out Skirmish as there is absolutely no way I'm paying $100 for a case of paint and I don't think anybody else should either. I'll wait a little bit into the summer and then start a new thread, keep your eyes open everybody.

I have no idea where everyone whos in this lives but Ive been playing alot at a place in Patterson NY. Its just north of Westchester. Liberty Paintball. They have a ton of fields and if you show up with more then 20, you get your own group.
Last time I played, it was 20$ to get on and 70$ for paint with free air all day long.
