This is truly some of the most "hippied-out" shit I've ever heard of. . . to quote the wordsmith Eric Cartman: "Hippies. . . They're everywhere. They wanna save the earth, but all they do is smoke pot and smell bad."

Nothing livens up an evening like a nice cup of coagulating menstrual blood thrown in a relative's face.

“ I love them! I actually look forward to my periods. I feel closer to nature and less artificial when I'm using them. The soaking and washing doesn't bother me, as I don't use disposable paper products at all. My laundry is full of towels, handkerchiefs, and cloth napkins. What's one more thing? I don't even wash them separately. I'll throw them in with anything. Even my whites! I feel so much better about myself as a woman and about my periods. GladRags cover a lot of bases, depending on what "issue" you're currently embracing -- the environment, your health, even frugality and simplicity. I'll never go back to using store-bought pads.”

Yeah. I just stumbled (by accident, I swear!) across an old girlfriend's blog yesterday. She is all into conservation and the environment now. I think she needs to be introduced to these. Think of the impact her old bloody tampons are having on the eco-system!
Thank you for finding this.

Far superior to the Gladrags
The Keeper Menstrual Cup
The Keeper Menstrual Cup is a great alternative to tampons. This soft, natural gum rubber menstrual cup collects the flow rather than absorbing it, so the vaginal tissues aren't dried out as they can be by disposable tampons. The Keeper Cup holds up to an ounce of fluid and should be emptied several times a day; simply rinse and reinsert.

Jade and Pearl Menstrual Sea Sponges
[SPO]
$10.99
Jade and Pearl Sea Sponge Tampons are another great reusable, all-natural internal menstrual option from the past. Sustainably harvested, sea sponge tampons are easy to use and easy on the pocketbook. Your sea sponge tampons will last you at least 6 months.
To Use:
Simply moisten or wash out and reinsert every 4 - 6 hours, or as often as you would change a tampon. To clean, simply soak the sponges in vinegar overnight or boil it before and after your cycle; air dry. You may also try one of the methods below for a good disinfecting:
1. A solution of ¼ cup of hydrogen peroxide and ¼ cup of water. This will also re-bleach the sponge if it becomes discolored from use.
2. A solution of a few drops of Tea Tree Oil in a cup of warm water. Tea Tree oil is a very effective germicide and has been proven to inhibit up to 60 strains of bacteria, including S.Aureus. This will also eliminate any odor on your sponge.
3. A solution of 1Tbsp. apple cider vinegar in 1 cup of warm water.
4. A solution of 1 Tbsp. baking soda in one cup of warm water.
5. A solution of 1 Tsp. Colloidal Silver to 1 cup of warm water. There is no pathogenic organism known that is not killed by Colloidal Silver in 6 minutes or less. Its use is also of benefit to women who suffer from recurrent candida (yeast) infections.
Sea sponge tampons are naturally bleached with hydrogen peroxide during the cleaning process. If you find the sponges you receive are too big, simply trim around the perimeter until you reach the desired size.
You get 2 sea sponge tampons and 1 cotton storage bag per package. And remember, shipping is ONLY $3.00 for orders under $20!
