Holyfield set to continue comeback in March fight

Evander Holyfield, continuing what many consider an ill-advised quest to regain the heavyweight title, will fight in Texas for the third straight time in his latest comeback. Holyfield, 44, will meet Vinny Maddalone (27-3) on March 17 at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, according to Main Events, the ex-champ's promoter.

Holyfield (40-8-2) was idled for nearly two years after winning only two of seven fights. He returned to the ring in August in Dallas, stopping the obscure Jeremy Bates in the second round. Three months later in San Antonio, Holyfield was unimpressive against Fres Oquendo but won a unanimous decision. The fight did not do well on pay-per-view, and Holyfield has since reunited with his original promoter, Main Events.

Let him fight Tysen again. As much of a circus it would be, it is the only fight that would sell.

Why?

He was such a great fighter who won championships. He has millions of dollars. Why the hell would you do this?

If you've seen his estate you would know why.....

What is it with athletes not knowing when to hang it up for good?

Absolutely

I can only imagine the boredom and lifestlye change that goes with retiring.
You go from being away from a family, if you have one, most of the year..on the road with your friends going out nightly fucking sports groupies two at a time, doing whatever you want, making boatloads of money To taking out the garbage, sitting around your "Office", having to talk to your wife, waiting for someone to call you to play golf.

I can see why people would want to play forever.

That doesn't apply to Boxing so much.
Boxing comebacks = $$$

These combacks by washed-up athletes are just sad.

Some are cool, like I never really followed the NBA before Jordan retired, I was like 13 when he retired from the Bulls the second time.
So, it was nice to see him play again when I followed.
Same for Lemieux, though he wasn't washed up I guess.

I hear there's a rumbling that Pippen wants to come back as a player/coach, hoping to play about 10-15 minutes a game with a contender.
