This is completely my fault, but I have a tooth that needs a root canal, I can't get in to the dentist until hopefully sometime tomorrow, don't have anything stronger than Execedrin Migraine to take for it, and the pain is horrendous.
Thought I'd share.

Last time I went I only got Tyelnol 3, worthless crap to me thanks to my metabolism. Anything up to and including Vicodin does nothing for me(Vicodin actually makes me hyper).
The throbbing is bad, but the piercing, feels like I'm having the tooth drilled sans Novocaine feeling is far worse. I'm hoping that when I get home tonight, Tyelnol PM will be enough to knock me out.
Good luck with the crown

I was going to try to find a joke to make, but I just can't do it. There is nothing worse than tooth pain.

Tooth pain is the worst. Followed closely by earaches. Get yer ass to the dentist tomorrow. The pressure is probably puss and stuff. I've had 5 or 6 root
canals. The procedure isn't that bad. Oh, and get a bottle of Jack or you won't sleep.

Yeah, douse it in booze for the night. Even if it still hurts, you won't care.
Worked for me.

Yeah, it started up Sat, but I was already going to be drinking anyway and it did go away after a while. It's been flaring up here and there since, but tonight is the worst it's been. Usually 2 Tyelnol PMs will make tired enough to pass out.
Only problem with the trying to drink it away is that I think I'm out.
(I know, poor planning there).

I had one that got so bad it looked like I had chewing tabacco in my cheek. Ended up losing the tooth, now I got to get a $2000 bridge before my teeth start shifting. Get to that dentist asap

Nah, it just needs a root canal, only know because it isn't the first time it's happened. Not swollen or anything though, but definitely need to get to a dentist.

Yup there's nothing like that pain, went through that shit more than once, and when it happened I was a zombie, I couldn't work, or do anything. The only thing that worked to dull the pain was to keep icewater in my mouth on the tooth until it'd get warm, swallow it, then take another swig until the sharp pain went away, by then I'd be so spent i'd have to take a 20 minute nap and hope that when I woke up I didn't remember that was the reason i fell asleep.
I finally spent a lot of money and got implants. Best thing I ever did. Now I chew ice cubes just to make people uncomfortable.

Take a tylenol 500 and an ibuprofen or two or three, totalling 4-600mg. They are two different classes and ok to take together. The synergistic effects of the two combined work better in many cases than even many opioid analgesics.

Thanks fella. Don't think I have any of those Tyelnol around. I plan on tearing apart the house when I get back there in about 45 min to see what I can scrape up though.

Tylenol 500 is basically standard, OTC strength. No booze with acetominophen, though.

Ok, so my options are Tyelnol w/codiene or Kadian(generic name morphine sulfate)
Leaning towards the Kadian. Just need to make sure that sulfate isn't along the same lines as sulfa(same base element, yes, but maybe different)

sulfate is technically like what you're referring to, but it shouldn't cause a reaction. It's simply a salt added for dispersion and distribution in the bodies.

Yeah, after reading up a little it seems different enough that I ought to be safe. Plus the fact that it's a 12 hour time release capsule seems better suited to the situation. That and the last time I had allergies to medicine tested was probably when I was about 10.
Thanks for the advice/help/support. Nice to know I'm not the only one with teeth that are fucked around here.

I feel your pain. Toothaches are the worst. I had one so bad once that I would have definitely shot myself to end the excruciating, throbbing, pain.

Went in today, got teeth drilled and despite all the novocaine they gave me(approximately at 10:30, my face is still numb) it hurt like a mother fucker until they got to the nerve. Was given a prescription for Tyelnol3(aka w/codeine) for the pain I might have. Which, since it's starting to feel a bit sore, I may need(might try the ibuprofen thing that sknight was talking about with it). Have an appointment in 3 weeks to get the root canal done.

And I mean that, tooth pain hurts like a bastard, I know what you are going through.

At least the worst is over now.

This might turn into a separate FU to the dentist.
I was given tyelnol with codeine. Took 2 at 4pm. It's done next to nothing for the pain, I called to try to get something stronger and no dice. Their suggestion was that if it's still bothering me tomorrow to try to come back into the office tomorrow.
Thanks for nothing.

When I had my root canal dont I got Tylenol with codeine and amoxicillin. Once the antibiotics kick in it stopped hurting.

02-21-2007, 06:51 PM
That's happened before. This is the first time I've had problems after the first go at my teeth.
Next dose of TWC(tyelnolw/codeine) is in about 15 min, I'm going to try staggering ibuprofen 1.5-2 hours after on some advice to try to keep some medication fresh in me.

I've had infected toofs before, the pain is indescribable,I've even gone to the e.r. for it,just to get a penecillin shot and some dope. One I had to get pulled but the novacaine didn't work cuz of the infection so I felt every bit of it when he yanked it.Had a tear come out of my eye on that one.
