Tried defragging twice over the last week, but it goes way too slow and I have to go back to work with my computer. Slow, meaning it's at like 10% 6 hours later, but it's not really fragmented much.

Anyhow, anything free out there that's any good as an alternative?

Yeah, ran it for about half an hour this morning and it got close to 25% through. Couldn't finish once again, but will run it later.

I know it's not good practice, but I was actually able to work while defragging.

What % of free disk space do you have currently?

If you are less than 15% free, it could take a while. Try running in Safe mode if it's really dragging.

Diskeeper is the fastest and bestest out there. I think ya can DL the basic for free.

Worked fantastic. Really fast, too. I ran it several times yesterday and confirmed the performance on the windows graphical analyzer. Surprised to see the computer work faster, even though it's not ridiculously fragmented and Windows "claims" that I don't need to defrag. In fact, I've never seen windows ever say a volume needs to be defragged, ever.

Tried Disckeeper, wasn't so hot about it.
