Here are a few legal drugs I have tried and gotten an effect from...

Salvia- I've never gotten much effect from this, but some people do...seems it works differently on each person.

Hawiian Baby Woodrose Seeds- BEST LEGAL TRIP EVER. These small seeds can be ordered online. A "Strong" dose would be 4 seeds. I did these once and tripped BALLS for about 8 hours. It has a strong sedative in it, so you don't do much more than lay on the ground...extremely intense trip...take a long time to kick in. They can be ordered online..be cautious though....these are fucking strong.

Whippits- Enough said :P

Nutmeg, if you eat enough, is a hallucenagenic (sp) You have to eat about 12 grams though ( depending on body weight). The hangover is horrendous though. Also, about 14 grams will kill you. look it up

morning glory seeds, never done them but I know people that did. Apparently its hard to find them without the wax coating that makes them undisgestable

salvia is crazy. you have to smoke it right though (out of a glass bong with a butane lighter) i tried it once and would probably never again. its much more fun to watch your friends try it

Jimson Weed - Dangerous and it will FUCK YOU UP. I peaked for 3 days and barely remember anything. Took 4 days after that to come down. If you take twice as much as it takes to trip you die.

Salvia - It works for everyone, but you have to smoke it fast. It leaves your body so quickly that you need to take several big hits within in a minute. Fun stuff, I love the high but it's pretty intense.

Sounds sick dude but i'd probably take only like 2 or 3, how intense is it? I've had a few highs for 3-4 hours where speed perception was so fucked up that shit was fast and slow at the same time. It's okay every once in a while but i want a fucking fun high, not an overly intense uncomfortable high that you want to kinda get out of so what's it like? Is it like calming but u see shit or is it kinda something you wouldn't wanna go back to?

Yeah man, that's for sure. I'm never sick, not even so much as a cold and hardly feel worse than average which is fine..not complaining but man oh man would i like to get back on that shit like i used to when i was little. Those sick nights were turned into fun adventures.

Jimson weed- Very strong trip, but the worst cottonmouth I have EVER experienced. Not very pleasant, but a very hallucinogenic trip.

Drammamine- Overdosing on this will give you another very strong trip, 12 might get you going, but 18 or more will definitely do it. The max I ever did at one time was 24, and I wouldn't recommend taking that many. 14-20 should do it. Some of the best hallucinations I've ever had, and I've taken good microdot ten at a time. Mobility becomes an issue after a while, I recommend a comfy chair.

Nutmeg- I highly discourage this. Tried it once, did not trip, and am forever scarred by the taste of it. Damn nutmeg.

Woodrose and morning glory- good, but as AF said, you need to get the untreated ones, which can be hard to find.

Dextromethorphan- "robo-tripping"- The DM in robitussin, it gives you a strange trip, that is not quite pleasant, in my opinion.

Salvia divinorum- I like the stuff, but many people I know say it doesn't work. I guess it's up to one's own physical makeup.

I say that Drammamine tripping is the closest thing to a good acid trip you can legally procure, but please do so with great caution, it is the fact that you are overdosing on it that makes you trip.

I remember once when i took it and hopped onto my old computer, i swear to god i couldn't hit the right buttons and i literally saw three keyboards all next to each other and that was only on the 2 full shots out of three. Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride, the antihistamine in Benadryl, is quite effective as a sleep aid, but when you go over 100 mg, the cottonmouth can be horrendous.

Unfortunately, Salvia is beginning to get illegal in certain states but I might try some of these other suggestions like the Hawaiian stuff (is it better to get the regular strain or the "super" strain and should I be worried about it showing up on my credit card statement).

I tried nutmeg before and it was like when Charlie and Mac were trying to get high off of huffing Elmer's glue.
