i would probably classify myself as one. I have an Ipod, laptop, 50" flatscreen, 3 xm units, a Dyson, been through many different cell phones. All of my furniture is really modern and high end.

Who else is a Techno Sexual?

Dr. Hoffman

I would never claim to be. I enjoy and have much of what you have not because its the thing of the moment but because I have done my research and have chosen what I think is the best product. I will admit to being slightly metro-sexual though.

I like gadgets and shit, but don't care if they're the newest "sexiest" ones, just that they do the job... doesn't mean I don't want high quality, just don't care if its the newest... and high quality and sexy usually don't go together anyway.

iPhones are for queers, anyway. They're for all the people who've been completely sucked in by Apple's ability to convince everyone they're not a giant corporation that's just markets really fucking well.

You want a real smartphone? Buy a Treo. Expandable memory, open architecture (you don't have to hack it to add programs, like you do with the iPhone), better processing, and at least as user-friendly.

Oh, and it plays music, too. Without needing headphones. And video. Fuckwads.

I have an ipod (the 5th I've owned) an Inno (my 2nd XM unit), an imac, a graphite g4 (I've lost count of the macs Ive owned), I have a decent stereo (I'll get a better one soon), a PS2, a Napster Mp3 player; I can fix/upgrade my own macs, I can setup a network and my Apple airport system, and I'm learning how to troubleshoot Windows (without erasing the drive & re-installing). I'm also a professional designer/illustrator.

rookies, 150" projector.

Yea, I was going to mention that anyone who doesn't have a projector is a rookie. As far as home set-up... you're not a pro if you can get it all off the shelf at a local retailer. I was in one house where the guy spent 200k on his media room. He's a shipping magnate so he could afford it.

I'm technically adept. I'm not keen with computer building or programming but I'm pretty good at repairing and tweaking them. I can network well since I have a fair understanding of the OSI layers and why they matter. Plus my job keeps me abreast of the latest in telecommunications. I always am within minutes of an internet ready device usually a portable laptop. My vehicle is actually a 3G wi-fi hotspot.

But anyone who uses the term technoi-sexual to describe themself is a faggot.

I think the fact that I don't really understand what any of that means disqualifies me as a techno-sexual.

I have a RAZR phone, but just because it was a good price and it fits well in my pocket. Oh, and a Bluetooth, but only because I'm not allowed to talk on the phone in my work truck. That's about it.

And I've got a diamond plate skin for my phone. I'm trying for redneck, at least.

Unfortunatly, I'm afraid I fall under the category, but I don't like it.

-Samsung 60" DLP rear projection television
-Three XM radios (Tao XM2Go, Polk XRT12 reference tuner, and a Roady) (and support two other Roady's for other friends)
-Three DirecTV DirecTiVo's hacked for Multi-Room Viewing and Home Media Option (plus an extra drive in each for more storage)
-Yamaha 1000 watt 7.2 THX 2 Certified receiver (with up and downconvert options, HDMI, Component, S-Video, the works....)
-Klipsch THX certified reference speakers for a full THX setup (including two subwoofers)
-Yamaha outdoor speakers so I can pipe music outside while on the porch
-Toshiba progressive scan DVD player (no hi-def DVD or blu-ray player yet ...waiting to see which format wins)
-Pioneer high-end Laserdisc player (and about 1000+ laserdiscs)
-Toshiba high-end VCR (high-end in the sense that it has 4 heads, outputs in Dolby ProLogic, and has an S-Video output)
-Kenwood 200 disc CD changer (but it is rarely used)
-Playstation 1, Playstation 2, Sega Dreamcast, and a Nintendo Gamecube (and a Wii on the way...)
-11 networked computers (3 desktops (all home built), 4 rackmount servers (all home built), 1 PocketPC (Dell Axim x51v), and 2 TabletPC's (both from Gateway since I used to work there...), and a Home Theater PC (which is a 2 GHz MicroATX system in a small case) so I can stream mp3's and xvid videos I "appropriate" and play NES, SNES, Genesis, Atari, and other older console emulators...oh, and I modded all the controllers to have USB connectors so it's like playing with the real system)
-Over 5 terabytes of hard drive space on a NAS (Network Accessable Storage)
-Over 2 terabytes of nothing but mp3's...
-Over 5,000 DVD's (some of which were boughten, most of which reside on a hard drive)
-Entire house wired for gigabyte wired and 802.11n wireless internet
-Built my own HVAC, lighting, drapes, and fireplace controllers so I can control everything from a multi-use remote

(there's also a ton of other equipment I'm not naming...like the 50+ Commodore computers I collect, all the older Apple Macintosh's and Lisa, the high-end photo printer, the industrial scanner for converting 35mm photos to digital copies, the digital cameras, and a bevy of other stuff).

....and I'm a software engineer/architect for a major aerospace company.

Oh...did I menition I also collect comic books and cartoon-related toys?? Is it also pathetic I own every single Kevin Smith inaction toy and they're all signed by the actor who played the character. This collection takes up (literally) 6 feet by 12 feet of wall space....

(edited to add the stuff I forgot)
