We've seen Bill lose it before, but I think this one is the wildest segments I've ever seen. I really thought Bill was going to haul off an upper cut to Geraldo's jaw. Geraldo yelled at O'Reilly that the way he used this case was " A SIN!"

I'm more with Geraldo on this one, though I also agree with O'Reiley to a point.

Immigration is a weird issue. Especially with regard to Hispanics. From an economics PoV, this country needs people willing to work hard, and immigration is the solution to that. From a sociological PoV, we need to limit the intake of these immigrants so the country absorbs them rather than getting overwhelmed by them. As annoying and BS as Mencia is, on this he's right: the LAST thing anyone wants is for the US to turn into Northern Mexico. We don't want to end up that fucked up.

As it is, the Hispanic community is both the largest minority community AND the one with the spottiest assimilation history.

Typical American assimilation pattern: 1st generation does shit work, mostly speaks the mother tongue, and eats the old country food. 2nd generation starts getting mainstream jobs, speaks the mother tongue some, but speaks mostly English. 3rd generation: indistinguishable from Mayflower descendents, in terms of assimilation. Meanwhile, their culture's cuisine slowly enters the mainstream.

60 years ago, pizza was the weirdest food in the world to middle America. These days, it's as normal a meal as you can imagine.

The challenge with the Hispanic community is to figure out how to make them WANT to mainstream in the US. It's how they're going to get wealthier, it's how they're going to not get disciminated against.

the problem is they dont want to, they are happy with what they have and though that my not necessarily be a bad thing, it segregates them. The same thing is going on in chinatown, they dont want to let go of their culture, they dont want to learn another language (which is ridiculous considering they hardly speak each others dialects) There's nothing wrong with their way of life, its simplier and they are probably happier than any one of us, the problem is that you cant live like that in america, especially NYC and the government ends up having to help them.

But also. Though I can't say it applies here, but does in many cases, sanctuary laws often tie the locals' hands. In some cases local authorities can hold a suspect who's illegal for a certain amount of time, then have to let them go because INS refuses to handle them..

Removing these sanctuary laws could go a long way to solving this problem.

As much as i hate to admit it, I agree with O'Reily (to a point) about the illegal aliens. Too bad illegal aliens and drunk driving in Virginia has nothing to do with each other. Why not blame the girls for not watching tv an extra five minutes in the morning. Or blame the city for not having the lights in a sequence of three seconds more.
