I can just imagine some people out there have just been listening to the radio to find the next big story. The boys knew this was coming and I guess they were right.
The thought police are coming.

Damn we could really use another terrorist attack this weekend to blow this over. Or another school shooting, or something like that.

watchdog do-gooders are looking for something to sink the shows with since they got Imus and they found something that they could exploit to try and sink another show. This is what happened with Imus and JV and Elvis... some group gets a hold of audio, says that this is offensive and creates a stir that isn't genuine. The "nappy headed hos" didn't start the shit with Imus, the watchdog group that listened and posted about it did. It was days later that it became a story that was picked up by the media and almost a week before the Rutgers team came out and actually said that they were offended. Who is actually offended by the audio from Homeless Charlie? Has Condoleeza Rice come out and said how hurt she was when she heard it? It's manufactured hatred but it's what constitutes as news now.

yeah i think the fact that they have said much worse things really show how much this radio, free speech crap has gotten out of control. it seems like they just got sucked up into it.

It just was noticed in a more aware society.
It has nothing to do with society being more aware. It has to do with a small amount of special interest groups spending all their time listening to radio and watching tv then forcing what they think we should hear and watch on us. Society as a whole is stupid and could give two shits until idiots like these stir the pot.

yeah, good point. more examples of how civilians are out of control, which will only resul in more governmentally-imposed control. good point.

This remark was blown up because someone reported it. That is the whole and sole reason oa apologized. It is illegal on regular radio because of the r.a....p....e context but on XM there is nothing illegal about it. This is what we have to remind the news about. It's not nice and it's very innapropriate and yet it's legal and we pay for the privilege.
How can anyone work effectively if you find out after you finished that what you did was wrong? That is the question i need answered. I

What the hell is happening to my country? Who are these thin skinned pussies, and why does anyone care what they say about anything?
Why now? Because the press has never downloaded the worst of off of audible.

Because unfortunately the internet age has given the school nerds a chance to "fight back" in their eyes. They are going after who they deem to be the bullies of society and everything else be damned.

I couldn't imagine if someone had gotten a hold of the "Francine, the slave girl" bit. All of radio would have been fucked.
The video was on the site for maybe two days and it got quickly pulled. Nowhere to be found on any official O&A sites. And personally, let's keep it in hiding until things blow over. If they blow over that is :(

Slow news day + recent Imus incident + Breitbart deciding to make an issue of it = hoopla
That's the way these things work, there's no big conspiracy or irony. News is like the weather. Some days it's time to rain, some days it's time to shine, there's no one planning it, the elements just combine.

I actually didn't listen to the whole FM show yesterday, when they replayed the Homeless Charlie segment.
Was this portion of it played on there?

As I posted on another thread...
Actions are immoral; opinions are not...therefore the creative opinion of Opie & Anthony should NOT be a factor in this.
The FCC should not care what the show's creative opinion is because they have the right to profess it...not to mention the fact that it's a pay service.
Should HBO not have the right to broadcast its creative opinion?

You know, I'm sitting here thinking that if Homeless Charlie would have spoken like that about Patti, the NOW doesn't really care, news organizations don't pick up the story and this is a non-issue. Granted, Rice is the Secretary of State, but it just proves it's not about women in general, it's about an agenda.
Patti can crawl on the floor naked and no one says anything. The Francine bit passed.
We lose brave men and women every day to war, yet this grabs front page.
Very sad.

I don't want to bring politics into this, but this is such a petty distraction from all the other bullshit that is going on right now.
The media is looking to hang O&A for something that was said on their show that they didn't even say, yet I don't hear much outrage from the talking heads about shit like the Attorney General lying his ass off in front of Congress or the former head of the CIA who got the whole WMD thing wrong getting face time to hawk his stupid book on their networks.
Bottom line - their priorities are really, really screwed up.
O&A have a homeless guy on that says a derogatory thing about the Secretary of State = national scandal.
Attorney General lies his ass off = newsworthy but not enough to garner a label like "shock jerk."

This is just the flavor of the week, it will blow over when a pretty rich girl gets murdered or kidnapped, then all of those stories will be front page news.

05-11-2007, 03:40 PM
there's no big conspiracy
Right.....
O&A talk about how shitty Bush was as President a day before + XM/Sirius merger where Feds want to have control + need excuse as to why we need regulation and censorship in satellite + Right wing agent Brietbart digs this up + Drudge and the rest of the "conservative" brigade hype this non-story = BIG CONSPIRACY
Until you realize this you wont be able to solve the problem.
Attack those that are attacking you. Fox, Drudge, and especially those who control them.
