The thought just came to me, and maybe someone already made this point. If so, I haven't seen it.

We all know how wimpy CBS is. Even though it wasn't said on their airwaves, they are (obviously) associated with CBS.

If Reverend Al hadn't made a complete ass out of himself, and had to himself apologize would he today be going after O&A?

So, in effect, because Al chose the same week to be made to apologize he isn't chasing XM, and CBS around with his threats, and therefore even though there is a lot of heat coming from this, Rev Al is nowhere to be seen and myabe there will be less of a "problem" for them.

This is all bullshit, and I hate that race baiting ass.

This isn't a race issue and can't be fought on it at all.

the statement was made by a black man about both a white AND black woman.

While I agree Al would probably have tried, this one may not have worked on the racial angle....at least it wouldn't in a rational societ.....never mind, you're right.

Doesn't matter if Charlie was black or not. O&A laughed along with him and made jokes as the talk of a black woman (and two white ones, but that would get lost somewhere in the mix) being ***** and punched. Al could have taken it and ran because he was empowered by the Imus crap, and he loves the media attention. Not that she needs him, or would even acknowledge him, Al could, and would have made it a race issue. I wonder where the womens groups are during all of this, not that they need that shit either.

I thought O&A were more laughing at him rather than with him....but perception varies.

Not sure who the black woman is, Condi is whiter than I am, and I'm Irish.

All the do-gooders will come out of the woodwork and start some crap over all of this. The liberals will chime in as if they are pals of Rice and the First Lady. Everyone will 'pile on the rabbit' to get their names in print complaining about this nonsense.

Even if he wasn't on the hot seat, there would be no peep from Rev Al. The real reason he wouldn't have gone after the boys for this is because Condi is a conservative. He promotes a racial double-standard as well as a political one. Call white people whatever you want, call conservatives whatever you want.... I'm pretty sure that if this was said about Cyntia McKinney, Nancy Pelosi or Hillary... we would have seen the "outrage"

I could not agree more. However, if you listen to the clip that every news outlet is playing, it sounds like they are laughing maniacally at the thought of ****** Condi. But thats what the news does right, clips shit up to make it say what they want it to say.

Yeah, it's not a black/white issue. It's a liberal/conservative issue. :icon_mrgr

I am pretty sure Rev Al is going to stay quiet, since this involves a member of Bush's cabinet.

Rev. Peterson Blasts Sharpton for Silence Over Opie and Anthony's Vulgar Attacks on Condi Rice

Contact: Ermias Alemayehu, BOND, 323-782-1980, 213-804-1872

LOS ANGELES, May 11 /Standard Newswire/ -- The Rev. Al Sharpton is coming under fire for his silence over the vulgar attack against Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice by shock jocks Opie and Anthony last Wednesday. Opie and Anthony engaged in crude and graphic discussions with one of their guests about ****** and beating Condoleezza Rice, First Lady Laura Bush, and Queen Elizabeth. The two apologized Friday. "The Opie and Anthony Show" is carried by XM Satellite Radio. Outspoken conservative author and activist Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson ripped the shock jocks and pointed out the hypocrisy of Al Sharpton regarding this matter:

"Opie and Anthony have crossed the line and should at the very least be fined for their disgraceful remarks. Even as 'shock jocks' they cannot promote abusing and ****** women," said Rev. Peterson. "Where's the outrage from Al Sharpton on this attack of a Black women? Does his selective defense of Black women only apply to non-conservative women?"

Sharpton spurred the firing of talk show host Don Imus last month from CBS and MSNBC for his derogatory remarks about the Rutgers' women's basketball team.

"This incident shows Sharpton's hypocrisy and that he's not interested in helping Black women. I hope that XM Satellite Radio will address this issue with Opie and Anthony to make sure that these kinds of comments are not repeated," said Rev. Peterson.

Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson is Founder and President of BOND (Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny); a Los Angeles based nonprofit organization. He's also an author, columnist, and sought after speaker, who appears in the media as an expert commentator on race, family, and gender issues. For more information, visit www.bondinfo.org

He'll be spouting off tonight at 9 on Hannity. Took him a while to recover from his apology before he got back in the spotlight didn't it? Ugh.

So far only Drudge and Fox News have made an issue of this that I've seen.

Wire services haven't issued any commentary other than that it happened.

So which major news source with a liberal bent is making an issue of this?

I agree if it were Nancy Pelosi that the comment were made about then perhaps they would be on it more, but it seems the conservative mouthpieces are the only ones making this an issue.

I have a feeling the major spotlight will be on the fact that Al is a hypocrite for criticizing Imus only to turn around and make an outrageous statement of his own... with H&C the O&A story will be safe.. they won't let it get out of hand.
