I watched "Pushing Daiseys" it's directed by Barry Sonnenfeld. It's great, but it will ultimately fail. It's too strange for network tv. It's about a guy who can touch dead people and bring them back to life for one minute, he then has to touch them again, killing them this time within the minute, or someone else drops dead. He teams up with a PI and wakes up murdered people, find out who kills them and puts them back down, then collects the reward. It's by Brian Fuller, one of the brains behind "Heroes". But it's WAY TOO strange for TV, it's narrorated, it's all these bright colors, the guy with the power also owns a Pie Shop. To me it looked like "Edward Scissor Hands" which I just can't see working as a tv series.

Also watched "Football Wives" for those that don't know it's a remake of a BBC show. It's about pro football players in Orlandos wives. When the best thing about your show is James Vander Beek, and the hot chick that got knocked of Lost on the Razzle Dazzle episode, you're in trouble. Lucy Lawless, is a wife, and she's supposed to be hot. Gabrielle Union, is a wife, and she can not act, and needs a diet. Holly Robinson from 21 Jumpstreet fame, is now playing the mother of a football player. You know in real life she's probably only like five years older then him. Just avoid it.

Got Marlowe, and Cavemen to watch tonight. There was also a pilot called "Nice Girls Finish Last" starring the cute waitress from Heroes that dated Hiro. It was fun in that mainstream traditional sitcom kind of way, I'm surprised it's not getting picked up, but this list might be complete bullshit, we'll have to wait and see.

OK Football Wives out, Cashmere Mafia, in.

Yeah no one here will watch except maybe for Bonnie Sommerville, who I think is hot.

If Jericho is gone, FUCK CBS. Things were really looking good for Jericho to get another season. Last word I heard was it was getting another season on a different night to get it away from American Idol.

Damn right. Jericho was by far the best show I watched this season. Great story, great execution.

That and Jericho and I'm set.

We already know that Heroes has a second season, so now I just gotta wait on Jericho.

Journeyman (great script for fans of Sliders/Quantem Leap)

Does this have any relation to the old adventure game series "The Journeyman Project?"

I don't think so. I read it a while ago. What I remember, guy in San Fran, he's married, his girlfriend had died in a small plane crash 15 or 20 years earlier. He starts waking up the week that his girlfriend had died, so he figures he has to be there to save her.

In the end he is really there to save this little kid because in the present day the kid saves a lot of people in a big bus crash.

There's a bunch of twists and turns and at the end it seems like this main guy is really working for someone fixing these mistakes, but it wasn't exactly clear.

There's a rumor going around, don't know how substantiated it is, but if true, don't count on repeats, and don't count on getting many weeks off.

Might be complete bullshit, or might be great.

Just watched "Cavemen".

It's not the worst thing ever, like if I watched it in 1987 I would of liked it.

Basically cavemen are blacks. The rich white southern guy is pissed his pretty blond daughter is dating a cavemen, get it.

The cavemen are supposed to be great at sports, and wild in bed, wink wink.

The one smart caveman works at a carbon copy of Ikea, just hilarious.

The opening scene their complaining about the news showing footage of a caveman robbing a 7-11.

We'll all hate it, but it will probably do great paired up with George Lopez/Jim Belushi crap ABC runs.

The writing on this has to be damn good for it to work. I will give it a shot though because it will be funny to comment on if it is in fact a bomb.

The caveman sounds hilariously awful, like the Jabloskisaur episode of South Park.

In a pre-Imus world, imagine the Comedy Pyramid that could come from this show.

The writing on this has to be damn good for it to work. The writing has to tow the line very carefully. It needs to be written exactly like an incredibly cheesy sitcom from years ago. Laugh track, hack lines, everything. BUT, they need to do it without being too over-the-top, wink at the audience about it. Not many people can do it.

Also, "Lipstick Jungle" will probably be a hit though I doubt any Wackbaggers will watch. Especially if it follows the same style and formula of Desperate Housewives, Gray's Anatomy, Sex in the City, Etc.

Here's plot descriptions of the ABC show from AICN:

NEW HOURLONGS:
* “Pushing Daisies,” from writer-producer Bryan Fuller (“Heroes”), who previously created “Dead Like Me” and “Wonderfalls.” It’s about a guy who can reanimate the dead, but only for a few seconds.
* “Cashmere Mafia,” from writer-producer Kevin Wade (“Maid in Manhattan”), is about four female executives - friends since college - in New York.
* “Big Shots,” from writer-producer Jon Feldman (“Tru Calling,” “Reunion”), is about high-powered execs who socialize at an exclusive golf club.
* “Dirty Sexy Money,” from writer-producers Craig Wright & Greg Berlanti (“Jack & Bobby,” “Brothers & Sisters”), is about an idealistic lawyer who inherits his late father’s less-than-idealistic law practice.
* “Eli Stone,” from writer-producers Marc Gugenheim & Greg Berlanti (“Jack & Bobby,” “Brothers & Sisters”), is about a lawyer who begins to suspect he’s also a prophet. (NOTE: “Dirty Sexy Money” and “Eli Stone,” which share a creator and a lawyer protagonist, are NOT the same show.)
* “Private Practice” is the “Grey’s Anatomy” spinoff starring Kate Walsh.
* “Women’s Murder Club,” from writer-producers Liz Craft & Sarah Fain (“Angel,” “The Shield”), is based on the James Patterson (“Along Came A Spider,” “Kiss The Girls”) books about a quartet of girlfriends who solve murders.

NEW SITCOMS:
* “Carpoolers,” from Kid In The Hall Bruce McCulloch (“Superstar,” “Dog Park,” is about four guys who share an auto to work.
* “Cavemen,” based on the hilarious Geico ads, made by the guys behind the Geico ads.
* “Sam I Am,” from a writer named Don Todd, about a woman with amnesia.

Of those shows, I might give "Pushing Daisies" a chance even though it's bound to get cancelled, Cavemen because it can be so bad it's good, and Carpoolers since I like Bruce McCulloch and always disappointed his career never really did much, his directed bits for the show were among the best things ever on TV. "I want sauuuuuuuuuuuuuusages!"

FROM FOX, again, AICN:

NEW HOURLONGS:
* “The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” from screenwriter Josh Friedman (“The Black Dahlia,” “War of the Worlds”), is set between “Terminator 2” and “Terminator 3.”
* “New Amsterdam,” from writers Allan Loeb and Christian Taylor (“Six Feet Under”), is about a 400-year-old New York Cop.
* “K-Ville,” from writer Jonathan Lisco (“Jack & Bobby”), is about cops patrolling post-Katrina New Orleans.

NEW SITCOMS:
* “The Return of Jezebel James,” from “Gilmore Girls” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, is about a book editor who recruits her estranged sister to have her baby.
* “Back To You,” from writer-producers Steve Levitan (“Just Shoot Me,” “Stacked”) and Christopher Lloyd (“Frasier,” “Out of Practice”), is about local news anchors in Buffalo. It stars Kelsey Grammar and Patricia Heaton.
* “The Rules For Starting Over,” from two guys named Chris Pappas and Mark Bernier, is about a group of thirtysomethings who find themselves back in the dating pool. It stars Craig Bierko (“Boston Legal”) and Rashida Jones (“The Office”).

For their shows, New Amsterdam might be funny and Return of Jezebel James has Amber Tamblyn, Parker Posey and Lauren Ambrose as, I believe, lesbians.

Thanks again for the info TKSH. I need to see Cavemen.

Haha, that's great about the Cavemen. Is that really the plot?

The plot is (i don't know their names so I'll call the cavemen, the white one, the militant black one, and the dumb one, it sums up who they are) the white one wants to get married to the rich white southern girl he's dating.

The girlfriend invites the white one, to her parents country club for a July 4th BBQ. The white one gets his GF to invite his two buddies, black and dumb.

Of course the all white country club doesn't want to let them in. The white one acts all nervous, the black one rips off the old white dudes playing horse shoes, and the dumb one dances up a storm.

In the end the whitish caveman makes a speech about how he loves his girlfriend. Then as the kicker, the tip jar is stolen from the bar and all the old white people stare at the three cavemen while they eat rips, just hilarious.

I watched "Reapers" last night which was directed by Kevin Smith.

It's for the CW, and there hasn't been any clues to what's getting picked up over there, besides "Gossip Girl" which seems to be a lock.

It's about a 21 year old slacker, it's his birthday and his mom is constantly crying. After a couple strange incidents we find out his parents made a deal with the devil years earlier, that if they ever had a kid, the devil would get his soul when he turns 21.

So the devil turns up, turns out Hell is way over crowded, and this 21 year old guy has to be a bounty hunter on Earth hunting down the escaped souls from hell.

It's funny, not really funny, but funny enough. The main guy drives a station wagon and works at a place like Sam's Club. He makes a demon fighting uniform out of stuff from his store. He's got a big chubby side-kick who i think is the fat guy from Invasion, that abc show, and the Hispanic guy who was a pledge in Old School.

Ultimately, a one hour comedy about a demon hunter, that isn't super funny, or super actiony, I think it's anyones call whether it will make it on the air or not.

Also watched "Bionic Woman".

It's already getting picked up. I read the script in January, it's changed a lot since then. It was supposed to be a two hour pilot, which then if not picked up could still double as a made for tv movie. Somewhere it became just a one hour pilot, so everything kind of got crammed in there.

It's good, Jamie's dating a guy, turns out he's a surgeon/scientist for this secret company, after the original bionic woman attacks the car they are driving in the doctor saves Jamie's life by giving her bionics. Simple enough.

The ABSOLUTE WORST PART the girl that dated George Michael on Arrested Development, is her little sister. All the sudden this girl looks like the kind of teen who hangs out at Hot Topics talking about how My Chemical Romance, changed her life. AND SHE'S DEAF! I get it down the road the doctor will give her hearing back during some november sweeps bullshit episode that your girlfriend will cry during. But it's so stupid. It's like that girl that was on Weeds who then turned up on Jericho (yeah I know she's really deaf) but still three shows in a couple years with deaf girls, they couldn't think of some other disability for this girl to have. In the script I read she didn't have one, and it worked fine.

Overall the pilot was good, but didn't blow me away. My girlfriend who didn't read the script and has no memory of the old bionic shows seemed to like it better than I did.

Watched "Swingtown".

It's 1976, Chicago suburbs. Some people swing, some people don't, there's a teen girl with a crush on her summer school teacher, there's a girl that wants to run away, two families have faggyish sons who look at issues of penthouse.

They do coke and smoke pot. It's CBS trying to be hip, it's like Desperate Housewives, but even with the drugs, cool soundtrack, and people getting it on, it was still lame.

Lipshitz Save The Mother Fucking World.

The mother fucking really isn't in there, but it would be amazing if a network actually named their show "Lipshitz Saves The Mother Fucking World".

This show is nuts, the main guy is like a 17 year old version of that Adam Goldberg guy. So Leslie Neilsen turns up, and yes he's playing Leslie Neilsen, but he either is God, or works for him. Turns out this Lipshitz kid is either the son of the devil, or his cousin, they aren't sure. But they know he's the one. They never really say what the one is, but we get that it's important since he's supposed to save the world.

Lipshitz mom watches Jerry Springer all day. So the devil turns up at Lipshitz's soccer game, Lipshitz hates soccer, he wants to play football but his mom won't let him. So the Devil needs to talk to Lipshitz, so he takes him to Applebees, because he loves the Appletini's and those little riblits. And the devil picks up a 250 pound black chick, cause you know the devil is awesome.

Then Lipshitz and Leslie Neilsen go to a party, where Lipshitz has to get the hottest chick in his schools bra, and touch her right boobie. Because there's a key hidden in her bra, of course. Then Leslie Neilsen and the Devil get in a wrestling match on the front lawn of the party. Lipshitz and Leslie Neilsen then escape in a helicopter that Jenny McCarthy (and yes she's playing herself also) flies in on, something about B celebrities really work for God.

I have no fucking clue what is going on with this show and I just watched it. All I know is that I would watch this thing every single day just like Lipshitz's mom watches Springer.

NBC better pick this thing up.

That was part of the concept of the Journeyman project games, you were a guy sent back (and I think in one case fowards?) in time to fix fuckups. Sounds like it might indeed be based off the games. If not, I smell LAWSUIT.

so Im reading all the plots of all these shows....ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This is the best of the scripts out there that they are gonna be shoving down our throats? Cavemen??? First of all there was a group of people in a room somewhere who thought that was a great idea for a show, but do we think that show will be able to fly with its undertones of race bashing. According to the special interest groups out there, the second it offends someone that show is gone. It just seems to me that the shows just keep getting dumber and dumber, kinda of says alot about the American tv viewing public. Do we really need another Bionic woman...didnt we see that already?:icon_eek:

This year really seems to be underwhelming. Last year after watching the pilots for "Heroes" "Jericho" "Friday Night Lights" and "30 Rock" I knew we were in for some good tv.

This year, nothing so far has really impressed me all that much. Lipshitz Saves The World, probably being the most original, but almost too original for mainstream TV, it's almost like "The Adventures of Pete and Pete" but for adults.

There's lots of "Desperate Housewives" type stuff (Big Shots, Cashmere Mafia, Swingtown).

There still is a lot to come. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the pilot for "Chuck" is fun. It might be something people here would like.

There were a bunch of other decent sitcoms filmed, but I haven't been hearing that much about any of them, so that doesn't bode well.

We'll know by the end of the week what's made it and what hasn't.

I am happy that Scrubs is coming back for another season, even though it will most likely be its last.

I am hoping that Heroes doesn't shit the bed being that early rumors were that they were dumping a large majority of the cast from this year and making a new one, though it could also work in its favor too. Now we get to learn all the new things about a completely different group of heroes.

Cavemen might be funny but it won't be and it won't last long.

I was a big Quantum Leap fan so Journeyman will be on my list to watch.

All in all, there seems to be a lot of revolving themes for the new shows, ie. the devil and lawyers. I love the originality of writers these days.

Seriously though, this lineup does look terrible. Doctors, crimestoppers (cops, rogue CTU agents, hot robot chicks) and lawyers.

I really hope that Cavemen tows that line between horrible and wink-to-the-audience bad quite well.

I was just reading the plot for Chuck on NBC which was picked up. Isn't that the plot of the short-lived, but I liked, Jake 2.0 with underrated POA Keegan Connor Tracy?

And for those who care, Luicus Vorenus is the star of Journeyman.

Life seems eh but the chick in it Melissa Sagemiller is incredibly sexy.

In Jake 2.0, the lead guy worked at some sort of federal agency as a low level researcher or something, if I remember correctly. Then he got super powers.

In Chuck, he went to MIT or some other fancy school, and is now working on the geek squad in a Best Buy.

He gets this equation in an email, that he figures out and it somehow turns him into a living super computer who is really integral part of our national security.

There's adventure, then in the end a CIA dude who was described like Nick Fury, and a hot NSA chick, both wind up working with Chuck and his loser friends at Best Buy.

Joel McHale from The Soup, his sitcom pilot The IT Crowd, got picked up, most likely some point midseason.

I haven't seen it reported, but he will still be doing The Soup, while doing The IT Crowd, they figured out his schedule so it's possible.

And if you didn't hear "Heroes" has a new spin off "Heroes: Origins" totaling 30 original hours of shows next year. I was hearing closer to 40, but 30 should be pretty good. I'd guess there will only be 6-8 eps of this Origins show, but who knows.
