Also, more proof that no good deed goes unpunished. Last week, I listed XM Satellite Radio as an example of a product that I use and/or recommend. Well, I take that back. Understand, if Opie and Anthony want to host a radio show where a homeless person talks about ****** Condi Rice or Laura Bush, they have the right to do so, whether on XM, FM, AM, or Internet. The issue for me is whether I want to spend $12.95 a month so they can. The answer is no. I called XM and told them that. Their position is, give us a chance to work things out. I'm willing to, but when the dust clears, Opie and Anthony had better be gone or I'm cancelling my subscription.

Why should XM get rid of O and A ? What did they do that was so wrong? Have you ever made a vulgar comment, a racist joke, said something in jest even? I've seen several bloggers which found that it was, quite frankly, fucking RIDICULOUS for O&A to even have to apologise for someone elses comments and views.

I gotta agree with those positive bloggers that appreciate free speech and understand that it was the individual homeless guy's responsibility, and not the show's. Opie merely commented about the images in his mind in response to the homeless guy's views (and libido). I also understand O&A were forced to apologise by their employers, but at least on the live show it was obviously clear they didn't want to (listen to it and it's clear that Anthony has his tongue firmly in his cheek when he blurted it out.. I just assume that it was later on in the day that the more serious apology was posted on the XM site), and that they'll just keep doing what they do best once the dust has settled.

I just fuckin' hope that O&A stay on the air. I absolutely love the show, and it's about a zillion times better than the rest of the shit they put on air here in the UK.

Given the context of the rest of your post, I'm not sure what you're trying to say. But for the record nobody is trying to censor or fire these blogcunts. All I was trying to say is that not all of the bloggers out there are cunts and are jumping on the "they let something bad someone said slip on their show, let's fuck 'em over by saying how fucking evil they are" bandwagon, and that there are many out there, in both private and public blogs that support O&A on this.

I agree with you that there are a lot of angry, misinformed, fucking useless blogcunts out there, and acknowledging that they ARE cunts is important as part of our freedom of speech, (especially the ones that only fucking comment on how "awful" these things are AFTER it's been publicly slated and only heard by proxy - like the ruckus over the Imus line.). It's perfectly within their own rights to hit a 10 on the cunt-o-meter, but there are also some good bloggers out there that support O&A on this one, that can understand the bit in it's proper context, and support the guys on this.

Their show is broadcast, unedited, on XM Satellite, and an edited version is broadcast on CBS Radio. I've listened to them a couple of times and, as far as I can tell, they don't have any real talent, but they do have a real fascination with the F-word.

The 1st Anonymous says that it was a homeless black man who made the comments, so Opie and Anthony are not responsible. Anonymous, that is an ignorant statement. Opie and Anthony have absolute control over all content on their show. Listen to the tape, and you will hear them chiming in with the pseudo "homeless black man" on this very hateful topic. That makes them responsible.

You also say that since the remarks were made on a pay service, there's nothing wrong with the comments. That is absurd! The venue in which the comments were made has no effect on the hatefulness of the comments. If the remarks had been directed at a liberal Democrat instead of a conservative Republican, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. O and A would have been fired the same day. By the way, I don't care who they voted for. It has nothing to do with the hatefulness of talking about ****** a woman.

This country was founded on Free Speech and Personal Responsibility.
XM Radio is a subscription based service. It is not free over public airwaves. Those who listen to O&A pay money for the privlige of doing so. They make that choice. They chose to keep that channel unblocked. Therefore, those who listen to O&A vote, with their dollars, to keep the show on the air. If someone is offended by a comment made by a guest on the show, then they have the right to cancel their sub, or exorsize their parental controls and block the channel. We do not see this type of outcry over things done or said on HBO or Showtime. Common sense SHOULD dictate this fairly clearly. This is not like free radio or free TV. You CAN remove this probram from your lives entirely.
If they offend you, then please do so and allow those of us who want to continue to hear JOKES and the obsurdities of life pointed out , do so as well.
