I'm not sure if accurate numbers have been released...but I'm still hearing the 30K - 40K number.
Or, if you want to go by Howie Math...30K to 40K become 10 million-12 million subscribers cancelled. Damn, now that's alot...hoo hoo.

Any number from XM is going to be downplayed, IMO. Like including multi subs (family plans) as one sub or some other game with the numbers to minimize the impact on the merger/quarterly numbers.

My XM is still on. I cancelled last week told them to disconnect that day. If the radios are still on do they count as a subcription? I'm hold now listening to "Oh Debutant" circa 1930's- this is enough to make me disconnect if I wasn't pissed already

Based on XM's treachery, (which I'm really surprised hasn't hit the mainstream media. A well spoken person needs to make a recording similar to the AOL thing.) I'm thinking the number of actual cancellations might only be in the low thousands.

My account IS cancelled. My radio still works but All I get are the 7 or 8 channels that are always on for preview. Top Tracks, FOX News, 80's, Watercolors, and some stupid country shit. If you cannot get ALL channels then you are cancelled and deactivated. Make sure you are DEACTIVATED! This is the main thing. And spread the word. Every sub lost is a victory for the PESTS and a message to XM that we will not stand for thier bullshit lies or any form of censorship of O and A.

Well here's how they got some numbers.
I was told that on Thurs evening the were getting 50 calls a person per shift. 60 People are in a call center and there are 5 call centers. So for 3 days they were recieving 15,000 calls. Asuming most of them are OnA cancelations thats 30k-45k calls to cancel in 3 days. Most people have more then one subscription. And theres more then one shift of callers. Even if the Rep was inflating his number of calls recieved the numbers are still over 30k. So you do the math.
Hell theres what 40k people registered to this site? Say 20k are no longer active. Say 1/2 of the active ones have XM. And say half of those canceled. Thats 5k from this site alone. And from a poll on this site people canceling avereaged 1.9 units. Thats being modest and it's already 9500 from this site alone.

From Drudge
XM is also apparently feeling the heat from some subscribers. In a poll conducted on the P.A.C.’s Web site, as of Friday morning (May 18) over 3,200 people claimed they've cancelled their XM subscriptions over the O&A mess, with another group of more than 1,600 subscribers saying they've put their subscriptions on hold until the show comes back.

didn't XM say 40,000?
id say its at least that, most likely more. i dont believe anything anyone was told from the savages at customer service. however, XM's escalated response shows how large the amount is. XM's original plan was to offer 30 days free to anyone who called and figured that would be the most protection they needed to a backlash over a suspension. however since this went down 4 days ago XM has been offering upwards of 6 free months to callers and has activated over a dozen free chanels on deactivated XM radios in hopes that the canceled listeners wont turn to ipods/terrestrial before the supposed suspension is over. while not public, its a very loud and clear response. they are worried and havent figured out what to really do.

I know O&A have a lot of fans. But most of them would either:
1) Wait 30 days.
2) Call up and get 3 free months.
3) Not destroy some electronic they paid for.
4) Listen to other crap/music.
5) Listen to O&A's XM show without having to pay XM in the first place.

Well, O&A only have 30K fans max - if that many. I doubt all of them would drop just because their show was getting shitcanned. So take a conservative 5%-10% that actually bothered cancelling, and it's likely that only 1,500 to 3,000 cancelled. And even that number might be a bit high because, let's face it, O&A are no Stern.

The truth is, we have no idea how many subs have been cancelled. I can say with a fair amount of confidence that it is not 80,000. That would amount to between $7milllion and $14 million in ANNUAL revenue to XM. That would have gotten their attention by now. They are already hemorrhaging cash. They can't afford to lose that many subs. Regardless of how many subs it is, IT IS NOT ENOUGH. If you have a sub that hasn't been cancelled, or is suspended or free, CANCEL IT. We need all fans to cancel as many subs as possible to make an impact. They know we're out here, they just think we will get weaker as time goes by. we need to do the opposite. Cancel now!

Yeah, but Elo also said that the merger rumors were all bullshit and that the talk about a potential merger was just people trying to make Sirius look better. Let’s face it, there is no way that XM would risk the financial loss associated with taking their number one show off the air.

First, I agree with you that E-Lo would stroke egos.
But I do think that XM would cancel their number one show if they thought the merger were in jeopardy. The merger is the be-all and end-all for Sirius and XM right now. The millions they lose from O&A's fans pales in comparison to the millions the execs and stock holders will make in a merger deal. I think XM would gladly lose half their subscribers right now if it meant they could get the merger through.

Even at their largest numbers, I'd say the hardcore pests, who would infiltrate, cancel, and destroy, number about 10,000 at the most.
This is why canceling is pointless. If we learned anything in this post-Imus world, we should be spending our time contacting XM sponsors and tell THEM you're boycotting and tell them why. If the money puts pressure on XM, OnA will be back.

I won't pretend to know how many subs have cancelled. Only XM knows. I do know it's in the thousands. That's not pointless. Sponsors are being targeted, and 4 have withdrawn so far. But Imus' listeners didn't have the power to cancel their subs, we do. Subs are important to XM, because we pay. FM is solely dependent on sponsors. that' a big difference. Stop saying it's pointless to cancel. That's just fucking stupid.

One post defending the suspension, one post saying it is pointless to cancel. Dr. Peppers only posts. Hmm... I wonder who you work for.
We got the estimate of 40k on the 3rd day from the call center people - they told us the rate of cancels per call center. Yes they don't have access to the final numbers, but it is pretty easy to estimate when you do the math. Don't let these May sign ups (anyone falling for that?) talk down the efforts. We are having a big effect and it is possible that we hit 100k.

My point was that all the silly talk about O&A being the #1 show on XM and having a bigger audience on XM than Stern has on Sirius, often alludes to statements from Elo as proof. Clearly Elo isn’t a good source for such information as he apparently will tell O&A whatever they want to hear no matter how absurd it is.

I've noticed since this started that MOST of the naysayers (against taking ANY action) are No0Bs to the boards. The suspension got them to finally register yet their lifelong apathy and mediocrity won't let them do anything to actually help.
I am a noob, and I registered after the suspension. However, to say that we are doing nothing to help if we don't cancel our sub is complete BS.
I have never been more active in any other type of campaign in my life. The letters I've written to XM, advertisers, and state officials in addition to phone calls made.
We can't all be RABID fans. But we do what we can.

Yeah...we can't all go without satellite radio service. I mean...do you know how horrib...do you know how tough...do you know how slightly inconvenient and annoying it is to go without that service? :action-sm

I think we're all listening to crap nowadays. Not only do I get the shit WJFK version, which seems to cut off early, usually in the middle of a discussion, often in the middle of a sentence, But until 10am I can listen to Chip Franklin discuss young people and how they need to cut their hair and get off his lawn, or Elliott in the Morning and the hole on his show talk about their wacky misadventures. I need my XM back man, I'm jonesin'.
EDIT I cun't spell.

...Weve made too many compromises already; too many retreats. They fire Imus and we fall back. They suspend O&A and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further! And *I* will make XM pay for what they've done....
