Listen, obviously, most of you should've seen my Youtube video by now showing XM lying to customers. I need for anyone near a best buy / Circuit City etc to do me a favor. I will be doing the same, I want to confirm something..
Anyone who actually got their radios deactivated now has their new fucking out of no where David Copperfield-Esk 20 free channels on deactivated radios promotion.
Go to your local best buy. Every one of these places has deactivated radios, radios that were not either A. activated, or B. Deactivated for a reason other then O&A.
If indeed, these box stores radios are only receiving the preview channel and nothing else. XM is still falsifying records. I'm probably wrong, but I'm being Sherlock Holmes with CS tactics and what XM has told them to do with O&A fans canceling.
Keep this thread in mind and report back, if indeed this is true, I will be filming phone call # 5 to XM

Thank you sir.
Cause here is the deal. If CC/BB stores only get the preview channel, that means XM is still sending "exclusive" content to specific users, which means, we are still subscribing to something, it's just not costing us anything.
IE when you subscribe to a newsletter, they cost nothing, but you're technically still a subscriber.
Are you getting ALL the channels? Or just these mystery 20 channels?

I deactivated a radio a while back (nothing to do with the current bullshit), and I had a handful of seemingly random channels still active for about a week. I don't think this is anything shady on XM's part, but I wouldn't put anything past them at this point.
When was the last time a company got this much ill will in such a short time for something so completely avoidable?

And I know the simple answer is to just turn it off (power down), but that is the same answer that could be given to anyone complaining that actually subscribes to the content. The displays at the local Circuit City may have live subscriptions, be it ones paid for by CC or ones given to them for free by XM for advertising purposes. They can access every channel Ive tried that was NOT an XL channel (Squizz, Liquid Metal, 202, etc). Ill try the local BB tomorrow if I can.

This may be a huge coincidence but Alltel wireless offers 20 channels of XM content through their cell service.
http://www.alltel.com/axcess/music_details.html?id=3
"XM Radio Mobile
Get 20 of the best satellite radio music channels on your phone — XM Radio Mobile! Listen commercial-free to rock, hip hop, country, blues, jazz and much more.
Includes the following XM music channels:
* Top 20 on 20 — An ever-changing Top-20 Countdown picked entirely by listeners.
* Flight 26 — The mature side of Pop Hits with artists like John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band and Coldplay.
* BPM — Club Hits and Dance Music with energy, passion and emotion.
* The City — The hottest Hip Hop and R&B.
* Soul Street — The greatest Soul Music of the 60s & 70s.
* Highway 16 — Today's most popular Country songs, nonstop.
* Ethel — Cutting edge Alternative Rock.
* XMU — Indie, Underground and Unsigned bands.
* Top Tracks — Killer cuts from 70s Rock Supergroups.
* The 90s — All Gen X hits, from Grunge to Boy Bands. "
My Roady had a horrible spill against my garage wall, so I don't know which stations are coming though.
But I'm sure that XM (the pack of savages that they are) wouldn't every try to pull switching out "canceled" accounts to the Alltel plans.

A supervisor for XM told me that the channels that are being received after cancellation are part of a promotion that has been in the works for months. It is called "free to air." This program activates a few selected channels for radios that have been cancelled.

I gotta call BS on this. 2 months ago my XM radios got turned of because XM accused us of not paying our bill, when in fact we had. After 3 phone calls XM finally realized that our bill was payed in advance as always.
During the 2 days our radios were off/deactivated the only channels we received were the emergency channel and the preview channel. And XM says they were doing it for months??? Why didn't I get those 20 channels then? :icon_ques

I was a subscriber since XM began in 2001, and these mystery channels that everyone keeps talking about have always been there on unactivated radios. I can not believe no one else on here has ever notice them before. Whenever you buy a new radio there are several channels that come through for free before you activate it and they normally switch them around every few weeks. I also notices this when my credit card on file had expired and I had not updated it, my service was suspended and I had limited channels, just like we are all receiving now after cancelling.
I cancelled all 5 of my radios last week due to the suspension and all of them now receive limited channels. I am pissed with XM too, but everyone needs to move on from this free channel conspiracy, because this is nothing new and has been done since the beginnings of XM.

Well I must have been extremely lucky with the 5 radios I currently own as well as three radios that I previously owned and have replaced.
I am sure that they do this so that if you give or sell the radio to someone else, to help entice them into subscribing.
Even though I only get the "Mystery Channels" now, the info extras (sports and stock ticker) do not work. Also since I still have v1.05 on my Inno, I can not use playback mode.

That's what I thought. When I first cancelled, I only got that channel 1, then a few days later I started to get those extra channels. I figured they were trying to get me to come back. I don't care that they're there, I just want to make sure I'm not on any account, which my old online one says I'm not.

I'm still thinking that they are using the mystery channels, for padding the subs prior to the upcoming meeting with investors, didn't the boys once say that Sirius was counting the subs of new cars (prior to them being sold) so I am saying if they could do that, then I wouldn't put it past XM to pull this crap, and by the way my radio's are still on in full channel mode, they said I would be off by today, here goes another round of calls. :mad4:

First 4 years ago or so, they did offer 10 free channels when ever you'd deactivate. But for the last few years they stopped that. I guess they figured some people would be happy with just that and therefore would not subscribe.
On May 16, the day after the suspension, I got this Email from XM about a radio ID that I cancelled 4 months ago:
What: 20 of XM's most popular channels
When: Today thru May 31st
How: Just turn your XM radio on — No activation needed!
Why: Rediscover the best in commercial-free music and digital entertainment
Turn your radio on now and listen to 20 of XM's most popular channels — absolutely FREE.
PLUS — your free listening period also includes access to XM Radio Online, so you can stream over 70 commercial-free music channels at work and home. To register, just click here and enter this code
5/24 is meaningless for sub numbers. They will release no numbers at the stockholder's meeting. I've been to 3 of them, and they never release non public info there.
June 1, is also meaningless. Still a month to go until end of quarter.
July 1, is absolutely important. Any cancellations due to O&A who reactivate before that date, if they return, will be treated as if nothing happened. That's why you must not reactivate until that date.
So why did they start this offer the day after the suspension. At first I thought it was in response to the massive cancellations, but now seeing as it came exactly half way through the quarter, it was probably planned. They are obviously desparate for sign ups and are pulling out the stops to get and keep their subs.

its a promotion thing xm has been doing it on and off every quarter for the last year. they do it so that old subs may say hey i miss this content ill resubscribe
I just got off the phone about this issue. After 4 calls finally the radios are canceled and # 5 was about the 20 channels. He kept saying it will just run out and i stressed that I in no way want my radio to be considered a potential listener of any channels. He assured this wasn't the case but also said this is only for recently deactivated radios and not a new one out of the box. That makes me question whether or not these radios with the free channels are counted even if the account has been canceled.

Exactly. Everyone put your efforts somewhere else, such as really helping O&A or finding a cure for cancer/AIDS, as Jim said.
The regular users of this forum always b*tch when someone asks a question that has already been asked. They always tell you too look through the threads or use the search feature. Well it is impossible to use either when their are thousands of 50+ page thread such as this arguing useless points.
I love O&A, but get fed up with this forum and everyone having to add useless comments to every thread. Gets old reading through 50 pages of different people quoting the first post and only adding I agree or disagree. Why is it that everyone feels they must add a short comment, when they are not adding any new information.
