it feels good when you read articles like this. Knowing sponsors are backing up the boyz as well as the fans. UNITY is good :)

They're not backing the boys, they're backing their access to your consumer dollars.
Did sponsors give a shit as to what Don Imus said for 25 years? Not until consumer boycotts were being promoted loudly and publicly.

A thought occurred to me involving all these advertiser pull outs.
Why would any business continue advertising on XM 202? So their ads can be heard on 3 hours of new show, 5 days a week? Then 21 - 24 hours of replays per day?
They know nobody's listening, it would be stupid for ANY advertiser to continue paying for ads on 202.
And what better way to appeal to a large group of consumers than issuing a statement about "free speech" and "censorship" in support of our cause?
Aside from Nashville Coffee, who have been on our side since day one, I don't know if I can accept that these advertisers are leaving for OUR benefit, but rather because it makes no sense to stay.
Don't mean to be a party pooper, just another thing to think about before dropping to your knees and sucking these guys' cocks.

Exactly, companies are not pulling out in support of the B.. B.. B.. Boys, they are doing it because they are not getting what they have paid for.
In addition I have talked to one sponsor who says their ads on XM have not run as well as they thought they would. (i.e, they are not getting a return on their investment)
This is the perfect time for them to get out and they don't look like assholes doing it. The up side is folks like us are happy that they are pulling out and they are gaining friends like us because it looks like they are doing a good thing for us.
When in reality... they are not.
In saying this I can not say if the poor advertising is due to O&A, but if I had to guess I would say the the issues companies are having with their ads on XM has more to do with the entire package they purchased then anything to do with O&A, I would not be surprised i O&A were the highest response for the sponsors, especially when compaired with the other XM channels some of these companies advertise on.
Essentually they are cutting their losses.

When a sponsor pulls, we all start buying shit from them
I'm willing to bet FIVE DOLLARS, Nashville Coffee Company made more money from XM 202 listeners in the days after pulling their ads as when their ads were actually on the air

Worrying about motivations is bullshit. If someone's helping, they're helping you. Unless they're planning on ass***ing you later, they're at least in the "enemy of my enemy" category.
If you're going to demand that every "friend" you have has pure motivations and is a white knight, you're going to be one lonely motherfucker.

Hey, I'm just sayin', before we go patting ourselves on the back, keep it in perspective.
The best measuring stick for how we're making a difference would be the cancelations and PAC memberships, imo, which we SHOULD be happy about.

Yes, it would. That's how these things are supposed to work. Their motivations are inconcequential. Bottom line is them pulling ads is a victory for us. If we support them for that reason, it's possible that other sponsors see that, and they start pulling ads, too.

Buy a dildo for your wives and support the boys. Cock rings...nothing but cock rings Not that Adam and Eve is doing this (I don't know) but why not get free publicity out of pulling their ad, it would be them looking like heros.
If I pulled my ads from XM (and my ads from XM were not working for me) I would give the same reason why I was leaving. O&A Pests are a great group who will support those ho also support O&A.
Now please don't think I am picking on O&A or any of their sponsors, just telling you what it probably REALLY going on.
Hell take a look at hoo hoo, listen to his show (if you can bear it) and listen to his sponsors, then tune again in a month and see how many of those folks are still advertising on the Stern Show.
In fact besides Dial a Mattress, I can't really think of anyone else who has stayed by Stern since he has been on Sirius.
My honest opinon is that the Satellite Radio ads market is not as good as sponsors think it is, and if they can get out NOW, and lend their name to a cause then its good business for them.

It makes no difference what their motivations are. Perception is everything. If ONA get suspended and 8 advertisers pull out in the following week, that sends a powerful message regardless of the reasoning behind it or if it is just common sense to pull ads off of a channel with very little listenership. It simply LOOKS bad for XM for this to happen, and we can spin the story however we want to the media and make it about this.

As far as this advertising thing goes....
are we emailing the sponsors who specifically have supported O&A in the past and telling them that we'll not do business with them if they dont pull their sponsorships? Or are we going more for the angle of informing them what has happened, why we are upset, and then politely asking them to join our cause.
Threatening sponsors (in this case I'm only saying about this for ones who run ads on 202, as I see it, we can go nuts in attacking sponsors who support other channels and XM overall) isnt what we should be doing. That makes us just as bad as the people we hate. Its an effective tactic, but its a cheap tactic. If a sponsor wants to stay with 202, thats their decision and I wont decide whether or not to do future business with them based on that alone. But simply telling them that we support our show and we highly support the sponsors of our show sends the message that they can make themselves look good by joining our cause.

I think that we need to let them know they will face a boycott if they do not pull their advertising. Inform them of the situation and make it politely clear to them that none of us will be doing any business with them while they support the suspension either directly or indirectly.
Yes it's a cheap tactic, but we need to use the enemies weapons against them. We are using this tactic to END censorship while other groups are using it to SUPPORT censorship. There is a clear distinction. Our motives make this tactic acceptable because we are promoting free speech. If we were promoting censorship then it would be unacceptable.
So it doesnt matter, we need to convince these advertisers to withdraw support from XM one way or another. We need to hurt XM in the pocketbook.

Adam & Eve Pulls Radio Spots in Censorship Protest
05.21.07, 4:33 PM ET
HILLSBOROUGH, N.C., May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Adam & Eve, the nation's number one choice for all things erotic, has pulled its advertisements from XM Radio's "Opie & Anthony Show" following the duo's 30 day suspension.
"We support free speech ... not censorship," explains Adam & Eve Director of Marketing Chad Davis. "Adam & Eve was built on First Amendment rights. We cannot, in good conscience, ignore the fact that 'Opie & Anthony' were suspended over comments that the FCC has no jurisdiction over."
Joining Adam & Eve in this stand against censorship are numerous other advertisers and listeners.
"We've received word that thousands of customers have cancelled their subscriptions to XM Radio over this," says Davis. "It's obvious that America is taking the issue of free speech seriously."
Adam & Eve will be back on the air with their normal advertising schedule (effective 6/15/07) when 'Opie & Anthony' return from their suspension. While 'Opie & Anthony' is off the air, Adam & Eve will support its listeners by continuing to offer 50% almost any item on adameve.com by using code "XM202" at check out.
Adam & Eve has built its reputation over 35 years as America's leading source for sex-positive adult entertainment.
