I came here to post this.

Talk about getting it totally right, this is the ONA situation in a nutshell.

Brockman says something dirty, the newstation says they stick by their talent, and then immediately fire Brockman for nothing. Haha this is perfect!

what a great episode

i only hope that there is a large percentage of people who watch that show who "didn't get it" and now do, however i have a feeling that most people who watch that show already kind of understand censorship and the problems with today's media

Great episode. The Flanders line was the best "I'm writing to some people I've never met to get them to ask a government that has better things to do to get a person on a show I don't watch fired" or something like that.

Too bad The Simpsons doesn't have the draw that it used to. I think if South Park spoke to this issue people would really start to get it.

Simpsons carry a lot more credibility than South Park though...

"WE" get South Park, but a lot of people think of it as simple toilet humor (said in Kyle's mom's voice)

Simpsons got it done pretty nicely tonight

I think tonight's Simpsons episode will draw some attention...

Gotta remember, Simpsons has been on the air for 18 seasons now, people are watching it. I think the reason that most of us think that South Park would have more pull is that it's newer and more likely to grab 'what-the-fuck-did-he-just-say' attention.

Okay, how long ago was this episode made and is this REALLY the day they planned to show it?simpsons episodes take approximately 6-9 months to complete. I don't know HOW they pulled off such a relevant episode, but I'm glad they did.

never offended by.

You probably right, but I would guess it is probably watched by somewhat of a younger audience who don't know or care about Don Imus or O&A. But maybe I'm wrong again.

It may have gotten some old school fans back just with the anniversary angle they've been hyping. This week's shows were getting a lot of ink in the papers.

The sad thing is... there are people out there just like Flanders, and they actually think they are doing a good thing.

This was a great episode. The Simpsons is probably my favorite show ever, but even I admit they should have hung 'em up a few years ago. But they can still pull out gems like this every now and then.

In the interview with Matt Groening in this month's Playboy he says that he still has a lot of say in the creation of almost every episode and that he will show up the "week of" an episode and make final tweaks and when need be, change the story around for relevance. There was one example he gives of something Bush said and they had a scene where they did a reference that same week.

So I don't think the entire episode has to necessarily be done 9 months prior, I think they are still working on them right up to a few days before they air. This has been a hot topic for months now and just my guess but they probably did this episode as a direct reference to the Imus thing.

i can't wait to see how mass media responds, but i'm kinda thinking they'll address ratings & popualrity of this episode & ignore it's content, which will be telling in itself, but not condusive to our & pac's position. i hope i'm very wrong.

actually, by the week of an episode (most likely, even the MONTH of an episode) all of the animation is done. The only thing they can do different is have the voice actors re-dub scenes or maybe re-arrange scenes they already have. Most of the time they'll insert topical remarks into shots where there aren't any characters (such as an outside shot of the simpsons house) because of the difficulty of creating a line that will fit into the already existing lip movements of the characters.

you can get simpsons episodes online a week in advance from torrent sites, shortening the time period more.

don't mean to be a ball breaker. even though i am totally being one.
