Guys,

I didn't see this movie in theaters but I just picked it up on Blu-Ray disc at Wal-Mart. Go buy it. It may cost $27 but the video and sound quality is absolutely excellent. This is definitely one of the Blu-Ray movies that is High-Definition, unlike a few that don't have good quality even though they are advertised as being HD.

My grandfather fought in Iwo Jima so I was compelled to buy this BD movie to have some visualization of what the fighting must have looked like and I have to say, this movie is stunning with the detail in the landing scene.

With the audio detail on the Blu-Ray everything is as clear as day and it sounds like you are there. You hear the stubble on a man's face as he wipes it, you hear the course volcanic sand showering over the steel USMC helmets and the sutble ambience sounds of the environment.

I have always been very proud of my grandfather and I appreciate what he went through fighting on that horrible island and over on Okinawa after that. This movie only makes me appreciate him even more and it frightens me with the thought of what my grandfather went through.

He doesn't speak much about the war but I have had long conversations with him about his time in the service and I'd never want him to see this film. The scenes are too graphic and I wouldn't want him to live through those times again with the realistic images this movie portrays.

I recommend this film to any of you who like war movies. This movie has fantastic visuals and the sound on the Blu-Ray version of the film is wonderful. Crank up your surround sound systems because the movie will immerse you in the environment.
