I have been offered a job closer to home (10 miles) at the low end with little to no use of my skills
+ the likelyhood of more OT (OT = 1.5 or 2x $)

VS.

A job with the same hrly. rate with less OT (= - $)
a 1.25 (at least) hr ride to work where I am treated very well ( golfing at the local premier country club and hanging with the owners at parties on a very rare occassion)

Heres the sticky points:

I personally dont have alot of faith in the long term of the company I work for ( for buisness reasons [economy / their buisness])

However the co. I have been offered a job from is looking 10 yrs forward and investing (proven) millions to secure that buisness while others in the area are going out of buisness.

I have a lease that ends in 14 months and am driving 100 miles a day for this job I have currently. I am currently 2300 mi over budget and would pay a significant penalty if I stayed. yes a smaller fuel efficient vehicle wopuld make sense but not in the big picture ( I have 14 mo's at 460.00 per mo left)

Should I stay or should I go?

You say the better more secure company is 10 miles from home, and pays more?

I appreciate that it will use less of your skills (read: might get boring), but is there a chance of moving up to a place where you will be challenged (read: enjoy going to work)?

It sounds like the new job could be better in the long run. How long would you want to stay at the new company?

While I am looking forward to a potential upgrade ( I have worked for this co. before and have worked in a higher capacity, they are notorious for not moving people, and at this time I feel theyare trying to get away from people with my skill level) I dontthink (80%) that an up grade will happen.

Do you get paid mileage for the job you have now?

less driving = more gooder.... unless your somewhere desolate.

commutes suck, are expensive , and drain you of life.

Just the lack of road rage is worth it...
