Looks creepy, but I'm not sold on it yet. Why mess with perfection?
I think it's cool that the little girl from Halloween 4 & 5 is in this one playing Laurie's friend (and most likely gets naked).

The trailer rocks. Hopefully the flick will have that "halloween" flavor to it. I mean, there's a reason Halloween is considered a horror classic, no matter how dated it may look.

That would be kinda cool to see an all grown up Danielle Harris in her altogether :icon_mrgr . Even though I thought all the sequals basically sucked, I still think that the end of 4 was pretty cool with her at the top of the staircase. Could be good (although I'm of the mind to just say "leave it alone"), but it can't be much worse than the last ones. Then again I made that mistake before with the remakes of Psycho and Chainsaw Massacre.

Zombie knows what the hell he's doing. The Devil's Rejects was fucking amazing, and this is the first remake of a horror film I'm legitimately excited to see.

saw this a while ago (wasn't there already a thread for this?), i hope to God this movie won't suck almighty ass. i'm probably one of the biggest fans of the original (i know it's hack to say that, but i truly am obsessed with all things Halloween-related) and i don't wanna see yet another great horror film get a bastardized remake, let alone my favorite horror film.
Zombie has no idea what the hell he's doing. The Devil's Rejects was fucking Horrible...
There, fixed that for ya.

Then again I made that mistake before with the remakes of Psycho and Chainsaw Massacre. There's a difference between this one and those two. I trust Zombie because I liked his first two movies but also because he has respect for the horror genre. Remember after Scream came out and all the following horror movies decided instead to go that route of bad satire of horror movies? Well that luckily has died down and there are finally people again who make horror movies that love horror movies for all their flaws. People like Zombie and Eli Roth clearly love the genre- not to goof on but for what it is- while also bringing a modern hipness to it. They have comedy in it but they take the horror aspect and the horror genre seriously. And that's why I have faith in Rob Zombie. Also, because of his hot wife.
As for the other two. Well Psycho is such a bizarre situation, a shot by shot remake of one of the most famous movies of all time with one of the most miscast casts ever assembled (I mean Vince Vaughn for Norman Bates? Fuck you.). But for all its faults, a) Von Trier isn't a horror director and b) whatever demons he worked out in that movie paid off because Elephant and Last Days are fucking fantastic.
For other remakes like TCM and THAE, those are made clearly for money by people who don't really care for the genre. They are full of "manufactured" hipness such as quick cuts and the occasional use of grainy footage, but they feel hollow and fake and you know they are more studio films than horror films.

Stupid question probably. Was Michael Myers mask supposed to be a "dead skin mask" in the original? Cuz it looks that's what he's putting on in the trailer.
Definately has the potential to be a good flick, especially since the first one was one of my favorite horror movies, ever. Since Rob Zombie is directing, I have no doubt in my mind he will spare no expense on the blood and gore, which is always good. It'll be a good popcorn scary movie to see in the theaters. I hope it isn't an exact remake though, because I know every jump and scary scene in the movie, so it'll be kinda lame, unless Zombie adds his own semi twist to it without ruining the remake aspect of it, and making too different from the original classic.

they never really explain who or what the mask was supposed to be in the original, it's just a white latex mask with brown hair, and all that is stated in the film is that he broke into a convenience store and stole the mask. the mask in reality is actually a William Shatner Captain Kirk mask the crew spray-painted white, widened the eye holes, and ripped the sideburns off so it wouldn't really look like anyone. they were originally going to use a clown mask because he was dressed up as a clown for Halloween when he killed his sister, but decided to go with the Shatner mask because of how human-yet-unhuman it looked.
this time around, the mask has stitching all over it, as if Michael made the mask. Zombie is supposedly going to give further explanation as to where the mask came from, and the stitching will likely be explained.
see? i wasn't lying about being an obsessed Halloween fan.

I just read the entire script and it seems pretty cool although it's kinda hard to say without actually seeing the movie. I'm usually one of those "why mess with perfection?" types, but I'm most likely gonna see it anyway.

I'm actually interested....what DID you think of part 6 (theatrical or producer's cut). I thought the producer's cut was a better story, and the ending wasn't as rushed and out of place.
As for the remake....I generally can't stand horror remakes (I still want to murder whoever pitched the idea for remaking Black Christmas), but I actually think that Rob Zombie could pull this off.
If not, there's always the rumored Friday the 13th remake.....

Anyone see the movie yet? I know it doesn't officially open 'wide' until Friday, but the workprint (albeit a finished one, complete with all efffects and sounds, just not the reshoots) is uhm...around.
Anyhow, I know the final cut is going to be different, as there's scenes in the commercials that aren't in the version I saw (apparently, the method of escape is different now), but I thought it was excellent.
Just wondering what anyone else thought?

I thought it was a pretty decent "re imagining" and a great throwback style horror movie. tits, sex, gore, and creepy.
the purists are absolutely trashing it, but they don't realize that this cut is from like 4 months ago and there we re shoots done since then.. more deaths, no :rap: scene and I hear-tell that the theatrical ending is completely different.

Yeah, though I'm kinda going to miss seing Calico Cooper's ass on the being screen.
As for the more deaths, I'm guessing it has to do with the scene of the cops getting atacked in the preview.
I hope the ending is different, but not MUCH different.
Gonna actually go to the theater to see this. This is the wife's most favorite movie and she is really excited to go see it.

If you go into this movie not expecting much than you should be satisfied. It was fairly good, especially for a remake. 7/10
