Anyone ever been scammed by Columbia House for music or dvds? I get a bill from them today for account I never opened. Of course they want $8.00 now and even more if I cancel. Figures there is no number available that I can call to ask what the fuck.

Are they still around? I was talking to my friend about them the other day, and we figured they went out with the 90s.

They're a scam? Hahahaha I scammed their asses back while I was a young adolescent boy :)
I ordered a bunch of shit from them for $0.01 per DVD. Well then they wanted me to pay them for shit they were sending me all of the time. Well long story short, I ended up with a bunch of free DVDs when I informed them that I was a 15 year old boy and I couldn't enter into any contract agreement :( So, I didn't get much shit from them afterwards except for the free 15DVDs.
I also watched a documentary a guy made while working for them. It's about how they have boxes and boxes of piled up CDs and movies sitting around their offices for their employees to take while they all work to try to rook the general public into their endless cycle of shipping fresh CDs/DVDs at full price every month. It was a decent documentary, but I don't remember the title. I saw it back around like 1998 I think.

When I first saw their ads, you picked either LPs or 8 tracks. Later they added cassettes. One trick was to have LPs shipped to your neighbor's house, then watch for the big square box hanging on their mailbox.

I did the same thing, then a few months later they sent me a catalog asking for me to return as a "preferred customer".

I have called the toll free numbers for Columbia House music but I cannot get thru to anyone alive. They sent me these bowl shit DVD with a bill for $5 stating that I had entered into some sort of contract with them that binds me to buy certain number of DVDs from them. I sent the DVD back with a note that I am not aware of such contract and that I do not want anymore shit from them. The only thing I could do when I called the toll free number was to cancel my contract by punching some numbers. But then I veiwed my account online and I discovered that I have a balance of fucking $50. I need to let these assholes know that I don't want anymore garbage from them and that they can shove that bill where the sun don't shine. I am affraid that if I don't get this fucked up thing resolved soon they are going to report me to the fucking credit bureau. Any suggestions?
