Bad news. It'll probably materialize.

So I'm looking at some douchebag's post history on imdb, trying to confirm my suspicion that he was indeed a douchebag (which is what I'm usually doing on imdb), and I saw that he posted on the Land of the Lost board. You know, that kickass but goofy 1970's TV series about dinosaurs and weird monkey midget things. Right then, completely at random, I had a really frightening premonition. Like a quick one-second nightmare. And instead of clicking on the board for the (1970s) show, I went and plugged 'land of the lost' into the imdb search engine. One result for the original show (1974), one result for 1991, which was interesting but harmless. And then I saw it.

Fuck.

They really are all out of ideas.

Try it out yourself. Think of the absolute worst, most dogshitty movie idea you can imagine, and then plug it into imdb or google. It's probably in production right now.

i'm a film student, so i've got plenty of bad movie ideas. but even i'd pass up on a Land of the Lost movie. hell, Jurrasic Park 12 sounds more promising than that.

Guessing Disney going to redo all the old Kurt Russel Movies
The Barefoot Executive
Computer Wore Tennis Shoes
Strongest Man In The World......
ETC... except the main character will be either a chick, a chink, or "Handicapable"

Society has hit a nostalgic bump in the road. Nobody likes new shit... so if you update the old shit and cook it up a little differently, you've got yourself a hit. We all like to watch reruns of our favorite shows, unfortunately reruns have leaked into the movie industry. And by leaked, I mean flooded.

Yes. Even though it's horrible so far.

But I've also optioned a pitch about my brothers senior year of high school to one of the studios, that I'm trying to get going. I've got the life rights to the central figure in a big article coming out in Rolling Stone in a couple of weeks that I'm getting ready to pitch. And I'm always looking for other good stories. If it's as cool as he says, I would really like to hear it, who knows it might be great.

Were those the lizard looking things? The noises that they made always creeped me out as a kid.

I'm even more ashamed to admit that even though it's been 20 years since I saw that intro, I can still remember which parts of it I got emotional about. For instance, going down the waterfall - "that looks fun". Dinosaur attacks the cave - "oh shit!!!!". Dinosaur turns around and yells at the camera - "this is my favorite part, but OH SHIT!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THAT PART IT'S SO SCARY!!!!"

God kids suck.

Nice find though, thanks.

I don't mind remakes if they are good. So long as the movie was at least a couple generations old (preferably older), it becomes more of a tribute than a remake.

It's just that there are so god damn many of them. Some of the remakes are of movies that came out when I was growing up and I'm 20 for fucks sake.

Bottom line is quality for me. Originality boosts a movie up in my oppinion, but it doesn't make the movie for me.

I think sequals ruin movies more than remakes. At least with a remake, it's easier to imagine it as being on earth 2 or some shit. With a bad sequal, usually with at least some of the same actors, it taints my memory of the original (matrix 2 and 3 come to mind).

Holy fuck. Memory really is a funny thing. I didn't remember the effects being so lame. The raft is going down a river that you can tell is really only about six inches wide. This was made in the mid-70s, right? Why does it have effects from 1956?
