Carmelo Marrero (Pictures) vs. Wilson Gouveia (Pictures)
Round 1
Very little action early as both fighters posture and stalk each other. Gouveia opens up with a few low kicks that find their target. Marrero shoots in sloppily and is caught in a guillotine choke. Gouveia rolls him over and finishes the technique from the top position. Wilson Gouveia wins by submission at 3:06 of the first frame.

Jeremy Stephens (Pictures) vs. Din Thomas (Pictures)
Round 1
Thomas scores with a double leg takedown in the opening minute. Thomas passes to side-control twice before taking Stephens' back. Din fought unsuccessfully for a rear naked choke for the next several minutes, until his opponent reversed the position and landed some heavy strikes within Thomas' guard. Sherdog.com scores the first round 10-9 for Din Thomas.

Round 2
Thomas comes out jabbing. Stephens sprawls to avoid a takedown attempt but Thomas pulls guard. Thomas locks up a nicely transitioned armbar. Stevens slams Din to break the hold but Thomas holds on. "Big" John McCarthy steps in and stops the fight at the 2:44 mark. Stephens protests that he did not tap, but his grimace showed the signs of the painful hold. After the fight, Thomas calls out boxing champions Floyd Mayweather Jr. and "Kermit" Cintron.

Sean Salmon (Pictures) vs. Alan Belcher (Pictures)
Round 1
Salmon tries to scoop up Belcher but gets caught in a guillotine choke. While trying to escape, he falls right into Belcher's guard where he is forced to tap quickly at 53 seconds of the first stanza.

Thiago Silva (Pictures) vs. James Irvin (Pictures)
Round 1
Both fighters come out throwing kicks and haymakers. After a brief clinch, Silva tries to throw Irvin, but the Californian's knee buckles inward while trying to defend the throw. The fight is over. Referee Herb Dean stops the fight at the 1:06 mark after Irvin's right knee has blown completely out. Nasty sight in the Octagon.

It is announced that PRIDE ace Dan Henderson will face the winner of tonight's main event, perhaps as early as this summer.

rampage is just an awful match up for chuck. chucks physical advantages can not over power rampage the way they have down others for the past 3 years. chuck doesnt have a better boxing game, and while chuck has the amazing sprawl, rampage is too strong for chuck to try and take it to the ground.

Yeah... MMA is international and its finally creeping into the UFC. If you get hung up on race while watching you'll be disappointed. Just enjoy the fights, these guys are all talented.

With the crop of Brazillians coming over from pride I will say its gonna be a tough road for whitey from middleweight-heavyweight.

So just watched some of the fights on "other sites" and was impressed with the night. Sherdog's play by play stated that James Irvin blew his entire knee out, and described it as a horrible scene in the octagon.

Nice fight by rampage and justifiably stopped, Chuck was totally out of focus at the end.

BTW, no one mentioned Rogans line. Randy said something along the lines of "chucks holding his hands differently" and Rogan comes back with "yeah that's the chimpanzee approach" which I found very funny considering who he was fighting.

I am a big Dean of mean fan... and I've never seen him take a puch like that. ever. I will say most people would have been KO on the first puch, but after he kept taking them, wow. Those were some quick accurate hands that Huston had... I am really excited to see him again.

And Palerider4146, I read about that on Sherdog too.
Both fighters come out throwing kicks and haymakers. After a brief clinch, Silva tries to throw Irvin, but the Californian's knee buckles inward while trying to defend the throw. The fight is over. Referee Herb Dean stops the fight at the 1:06 mark after Irvin's right knee has blown completely out. Nasty sight in the Octagon.

I hate that as well. mayweather knocked mma, dana white challenged mayweather, but 147 belt holder Kermit Cintron is trying to take the UFC up on the offer to mayweather.

but Kermit Cintron isnt a boxer first and foremost. he was a wrestler who turned down scholarships to 2 of the biggest collegiate programs in the country, wrestled in juco instead, and went into boxing, wheres become a beast.

Im sure ufc lightweights have no problems fighting him, but dana white is having none of it. its too big a risk. hes of a better wrestling pedigree than sherk, and if sherk cant get him to the ground it would be over in less than a minute

agreed on all acounts. rampage slams are amongst the most exciting moments in mma.

rampage would be great radio. the guy is crazy, always busting inappropriate jokes and would fit it well. maybe rogan could make that happen for the boys. how crazy would that be, rogan and rampage on air for an entire show?

and as far as joe, its a shame with all the chaos that the show has been under, he hasnt goten the limelight he deserves on the show. hopefully that also changes

rampage is real humble. he admits when guys get the better of him in training, he talks about all the guys he thinks are the best fighters (fedor and penn). he just likes to bust jokes, but hes not arrogant in that way

What? Joe is the best MMA analyst IMO. He's very technical, he'll let you know what a fighter needs to do to finish a submission or what to do to get out of one...most times I don't know but then again I don't know Brazilian jujitsu. If you don't like Rogan because you think he's an asshole that's fine but he knows what he's talking about when it comes to MMA....but that's just my opinion.

i hope they put rampage in the commentary seat for the next ufc event. Him and rogan calling the fight might be more fun than the fights.

As for the youtube video with the black guys cheering. most casual fans would cheer for their own. pretty much has always been that way.

and if you think they guys in the video are bad brazilians are the worst. i remember watching Sak vs. Royce in a bar. half was asian half was brazilian. a riot almost broke out.
