Anyone?

Going to Cedar Point this afternoon for two days of 'fun'. I like going and all, but I get horrific vertigo while on, or even looking at, the coasters. (Feel free to read that as "I'm a fucking chickenshit when it comes to 95 degree drops at 100 mph)

Plus, I don't understand the fun of waiting for hours in line for a two minute ride. Certain rides, I HAVE to hit, though. The Raptor, Disaster Transport, that mine car ride (yeah, it's a sissy ride, but still fun), the Mean Streak.

Apparently, the new ride "Maverick" opened yesterday, so I can't wait to find out how long we're going to have to wait for that one. Even those fucking 'quick passes' take forever anymore.

I'd much rather go during the Halloweekends, where there's at least a lot more to do than just stand in line and wait all day.

So, any regular CP patrons?

I want to go to Cedar Point sometime, The rollercoasters at Great Adventure have been an annual trip for me. Rollercoasters make the amusement park. Hershey PA has a couple of good Rollercosters.

I remember when the Magnum coaster opened in '89. I neglected to take my glasses off, and they flew right off my head when we hit that drop. The car was falling at the exact same rate as the glasses, so they appeared to just kind of float in midair in front of me.

I've never been there, but I'd love to go. Can't get enough of the big
coasters. One of my fav's is Alpengeist at Busch Gardens in Virginia.

Fag.

I wish I lived in the vicinity of Cedar Point.

I will however be going to lake compounce this year to ride their wooden mountain coaster boulder dash (http://www.lakecompounce.com/movies/on_boulder_dash.mov).

I can't get enough of coasters, unfortunately, all my friends that rode with me have moved. I won't go by myself.
The last wooden one I rode, hurt like hell. I like the smooth steel ones. < sorry for the sexual overtones there. :icon_eek:

Anyone see the one that dives underground (I think it's in England), because they can't have them seen above the tree line.

My son's friend went Saturday and was on the Magnum when one of the trains went through the braking system and hit the next train waiting to take off. They were in the train that was waiting...thank goodness they weren't hurt. Here's the article.

Cedar Point Coaster Reopened After Crash, Injuries

May 27, 2007 01:53 PM EDT

Magnum XL-200 was reopened Sunday.

SANDUSKY -- Cedar Point amusement park has reopened one of its roller coasters after a crash injured three people. The incident happened around 11:00am Saturday morning on the Magnum XL-200 coaster.

News 11 has learned a train loaded with passengers was completing its trip when it rolled through the braking system and hit another train that was stopped and waiting to enter the loading station. Two people were treated for minor injuries in the park's first aid station, while another person on the train went to Firelands Regional Medical Center after suffering an asthma attack.

A spokesperson for Cedar Point says excessive moisture on the track caused the brakes to fail.

Coaster operators estimate the train was going about 10mph when it hit the other. Both trains were damaged, but it appeared to be superficial fiberglass damage.

According to Cedar Point's web site, the Magnum is a traditional "out and back" coaster that features 5,106 feet of track that winds its way over Soak City and along the Lake Erie shoreline. Opened in 1989, it was one of the fastest roller coasters in the world, zooming riders along at 72mph. In 2006, the Magnum XL-200 was voted No. 3 in the "Best Steel Roller Coaster in the World" category in a poll conducted by "Amusement Today."

In 2006, Cedar Point says more than 1.8 million riders rode the Magnum.

The collision happened on the same day Cedar Point opened its newest roller coaster, "Maverick." The opening of that coaster was delayed several weeks after the ride's manufacturer, IntaRide, found a "heartline roll" in the track put too much strain on the track and the coaster's cars.

A heartline roll is a roller coaster element in which the train twists, but the riders' hearts stay roughly in line with the center of the curve. It was supposed to be one of Maverick's signature maneuvers.

Crews removed Maverick's heartline roll, and replaced it with an "S-curve." The "S-curve" will not include an inversion. Nothing else will change.

After the new track was installed, Cedar Point says Maverick underwent additional pre-opening testing, then the Ohio Department of Agriculture's Amusement Ride Safety Division inspected the ride. After that inspection was completed and the ride was licensed, Maverick opened to the public.

In addition, IntaRide, the ride manufacturer, has recently revised the height requirement for Maverick. Riders must now be 52 inches or taller to ride.

Cedar Point is one of the world's largest amusement parks by ride count, and currently holds the world record for most roller coasters with 17. The park also has two water parks, two marinas, and several hotels. It is the flagship park for its parent company, Cedar Fair.

This is kind of a pussy rollercoaster, but I love the Iron Dragon. The best part - no 2 hour lines. But i'm not sure if it gets better than the Raptor. I could ride that all day.

Use to go every year but it has been about 3 or 4 years. If you like coasters, it is the place to go. No Six Flags i've been to has even come close.

Thats how it is w/ the ninja at six flags in stl, used to be the shit, but now they have like 2 or 3 better so no lines and it is still pretty fucking good.

I heard about the Magnum crashing at the bar Sunday night, and then yesterday, all sorts of shit didn't seem to be working right. They weren't running the Raptor for a few hours, (no explanation, either. I was sitting in front of it, waiting for people when they just started ushering people off, and closed the line); the Dragster was down for a little while; Snake River Falls was down, then working, then down again; I think the Gemini went down for a little while; I don't remember the Mean Streak running at all, but I wasn't in that part of the park for very long.

For a Memorial Day, it was pretty 'dead'

The Maverick finally opened Saturday. 2 hour wait. You want to wait for it. You really do.

Are there a lot of sparkling wiggles at Cedar Point? That might make the drive worth it.

Yes. Go during Halloweekends and watch even the hardestcore gangbanger wiggle be reduced to high-pitched screaming when some douche in a clown costume jumps out of the dark at them. Hi-larious!

Ugh. NO thanks. I can drive an hour to Great Adventure & deal with the sparking wiggles there. No point in driving out to Ohio for that shit.

i'll be there mid week around june 13th (my bday, thanks in advance to everyone), i used to get a seasons pass every year for 4 years but can't do it anymore, gotta house to pay for... but i'm planning on possibly two days in middle of june either shoes-day/wednesday, or wednesday/purse-day. can't wait to ride maverick, sucks they took out the barrel roll over the lake. my gf's step sister is a paramedic at CP, she gave us the whole story when she got home, and found out what kind of SCUMBAGS the news is... since it was opening day for maverick, there was tons of media there...and being that the magnum crashed, they scooted over there, and when they had to revive one guy, the news saw the oxygen-squeeze-bag thing and stretcher, and immediately assumed and reported the death of the man. he's fine. (well, alive...) shitdick media.

there's not too many wiggles, at least compared to geauga lake/six flags, that place is a freakin magnet for them, because it's like half the price of cedar point. plus you can tell when they're coming up behind you, because you can hear a gaggle of mini basketballs that they all win (come on, you CAN'T lose the games with the mini-basketballs, it's a sympathy gift).

there's more white trash and wtf-is-that whiteys there than moon crickets.

plus go on Thunder Canyon, they're all too afraid of drowning to ride on a 10-person innertube.

I go to the Cedar point here on Long Island Campgrounds. Awesome place no big rides or expensive food or games. And lovely quiet campground. with awesome beaches.
