Wow, I just listened to "Ten" for the first time in maybe 5 or 6 years.
(minus jeremy and even flow, two songs I didn't need/want to hear.)
I'd forgotten how well performed and produced this album was.
It thoroughly kicked my ass, like it used to do in the early 90's, That's for sure.
I sort of lost interest in Pearl Jam after their second album though, and haven't heard anything from them probably since.
I'd like to ask long time fans if any of their other works or albums since have matched, exceeded , neared, or came close to the intensity and spirit of that album?
It'd be pretty kick ass if someone told me yes, and what albums, if any.

The old stuff is my favorite. Especially Ten, Vs, and the B sides...Ledbedder, Footsteps, Dr. Frank.
Check out "Lost Dogs" and, if you can find it, "Pearl Jam, Live in NYC 12/31/92, The Academy...Thats a great Live album of Ten songs.

I'll give you a quick rundown...unless you truly want me to go in-depth...of their albums. Not in any particular order.
Their newest album, self-titled Pearl Jam, is amazing. It's so well done and the songs are outstanding. You wouldn't be disappointed in the least. I honestly suggest you check this out because it will make you say "Jesus, they haven't lost a step!" - songs to check out: Life wasted, Come Back, Inside Job, Marker in the Sand
Yield - is a great album to listen to when you want to go out and take a drive, forget your problems and just listen to some great music. - songs to check out: Faithful, Given to Fly, Low Light, MFC, All those Yesterdays
Riot Act - This is an excellent album, and is probably the only one that shows more of the political side of Pearl Jam, though it doesn't drown out the music and Vedder does a great job on letting the music do just as much as his lyrics. Probably one of Mike McCready's best guitar filled album. - songs to check out: Save You, I am Mine, Get Right, Loveboat Captain, Thumbing My Way, 1/2 Full
Vs. - Raw album full of anger and frustration...and some solid fucking song writing and guitar wailing. - songs to check out: Animal, Dissident, Blood, Rearview Mirror, Indifference
No Code - If you're looking for Ed's lyrical content to be at it's best, this is probably the best album to check out. It's much different than any of their other albums, but has something special to it.- songs to check out: In My Tree, Off He Goes, Red Mosquito, Around the Bend
Vitalogy - This is an odd one, but is still pretty good. It's a very dark album and it's pretty hard rock...some of my favorite songs are from this album. - songs to check out: Not for You, Nothingman, Whipping, Corduroy, Satan's Bed, Immortality
Binaural - You could almost consider this an experimental album...the guys tried some different ways to record it. This album's pure genius can only be heard when listened through headphones, but it's great out of a stereo too. - songs to check out: Breakerfall, Nothing as it Seems, Thin Air, Insignificance, Of the Girl, Sleight of Hand
Live on Two Legs - This is a stellar live album that has a handful of songs from their...98 tour I believe. (could be 2000). An all-around awesome arrangement of songs - though if you really want to check out their live stuff, it's best to check out an entire show - particularly from Europe during those tours.
Lost Dogs - this is a double album of b-sides and rarities. Some of them will make you wonder why they never made it on an album. Some of these are on there for the diehard fans who have heard these songs live and wanted studio versions. - songs to check out: Alone, Education, Black, Red, & Yellow, U, Leaving Here, Hold On, Yellow Ledbetter, Hard to Imagine, Footsteps, Drifting, Wash
Hope this helps...if you want some more in-depth stuff, like I said. I'm game :)

Yield and Pearl Jam are 2 good choices. You could also check out one of their live albums from the 2003 tour that you can still find in most record stores. I think both NY shows, the 3rd Boston show, and Penn State from the US leg and a couple shows from Japan and Australia were released to stores. They're all good choices.

I always say Pearl Jam is one of, if not the most well balanced Rock band musically of this generation. Every album is different, they never repeat or regurgitate the same bullshit, and thats how you can tell its honest.
Actually, Ive never been too crazy about Riot Act or No Code, but to each his own I guess.
Vs. is actually my favorite next to Ten. 'Animal' is a kickass track there. And 'Leash', 'Rearview Mirror', and 'Glorified G' are amazing as well. And the self-titled album is absolute genius.

I downloaded one of the Gorge shows when they were selling them online (the '06 show where they played "Little Wing") and it was excellent.

Heya,
I'm trying to get everything I can listed on wiki. As far as live stuff goes.
I've got just about every official 2006 bootleg.
The older stuff is harder to find and I've grabbed everything I can on oink, with stuff stockpiled and on backlog to listen to.
I caught up to all the studio albums as well. The authenticity of every album is what stood out. Meaning, it's evident there's no bullshit behind their jamming. Also, I was able to tell the differences between the different drumers they've employed. I found them all to vibe well and bring almost a different flavor to each album.
My favorite among them all is still Ten, probably for nostalgic reasons, and aside from that. I'd say Vitalogy had some of their best and worst songs, too. Yield was great aside from the few filler tunes that didn't fit in too well to me.
Every album, was a solid listen. I was rarely put off or found anything too offensive to my tastes. But the live shows kick ass in all forms. More bands need to really document their live recordings like that.

AT&T definitely did censor the webcast during "Daughter." How lame is that?
http://www.pearljam.com/
After concluding our Sunday night show at Lollapalooza, fans informed us that portions of that performance were missing and may have been censored by AT&T during the "Blue Room" Live Lollapalooza Webcast.
When asked about the missing performance, AT&T informed Lollapalooza that portions of the show were in fact missing from the webcast, and that their content monitor had made a mistake in cutting them.
During the performance of "Daughter" the following lyrics were sung to the tune of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall" but were cut from the webcast:
- "George Bush, leave this world alone." (the second time it was sung); and
- "George Bush find yourself another home."
This, of course, troubles us as artists but also as citizens concerned with the issue of censorship and the increasingly consolidated control of the media.
AT&T's actions strike at the heart of the public's concerns over the power that corporations have when it comes to determining what the public sees and hears through communications media.
Aspects of censorship, consolidation, and preferential treatment of the internet are now being debated under the umbrella of "NetNeutrality." Check out The Future of Music or Save the Internet for more information on this issue.
Most telecommunications companies oppose "net neutrality" and argue that the public can trust them not to censor..
Even the ex-head of AT&T, CEO Edward Whitacre, whose company sponsored our troubled webcast, stated just last March that fears his company and other big network providers would block traffic on their networks are overblown..
"Any provider that blocks access to content is inviting customers to find another provider." (Marguerite Reardon, Staff Writer, CNET News.com Published: March 21, 2006, 2:23 PM PST).
But what if there is only one provider from which to choose?
If a company that is controlling a webcast is cutting out bits of our performance -not based on laws, but on their own preferences and interpretations - fans have little choice but to watch the censored version.
What happened to us this weekend was a wake up call, and it's about something much bigger than the censorship of a rock band.
The complete version of "Daughter" from the Lollapalooza performance will be posted here soon for any of you who missed it. We apologize to our fans who were watching the webcast and got shortchanged. In the future, we will work even harder to ensure that our live broadcasts or webcasts are free from arbitrary edits.
If you have examples of AT&T censoring artist performances around political content, it's a good thing for everyone to know about. Feel free to post examples on the official Pearl Jam Message Pit.

wow that's messed up. this whole country is nothing more than hyper-sensitive corporations that are extreme in their views (hyper-conservative, hyper-liberal) and their money makes them feel that they know all and should be able to determine what you can and cannot hear. bullshit.
on a pearl jam note, i need help with something...when pearl jam recorded the even flow video, they used a live version that is so much better than the version on the cd...anyone know where i could find this version?

or people in the middle who are just terrified of doing anything that may be labelled extreme right or left. which is kinda worse in my opinion. timid faggots

The video version of "Even Flow" isn't live, it's a re-recorded studio version shown over live footage. The video version of "Alive" is a live version, though. The video versions of both songs are on the Japanese "Alive" EP, which might be tough to find. The re-recorded "Even Flow" is also on their Greatest Hits album, "rearviewmirror." I don't think that version of "Alive" was released on anything besides the video and the Japanese EP, though.
