The Rolling Stones performed at the Altamont Music Festival, December 6, 1969. Rock historians peg this event as the death of the Hippie Era. Four people died at the concert. The most famous victim was a black man named Meredith Hunter. His stabbing death by Hells Angel Alan Passaro was ruled self defense because Hunter pulled a gun. The entire homicide was captured on film by a camera crew member hired for the concert documentary, Gimme Shelter. The alert young cameraman was the future legend...George Lucas.
