I needed to move my email account settings to a new computer but wasn't smart enough to find where I wrote down my account settings & password. I found this utility, and it took a few seconds & not only did it copy my account settings but all the emails in my inbox too. Awesome application.

It is supposed to backup your Firefox settings & bookmarks as well, but I didn't bother testing that yet. I'm just happy to have email on my good computer, now I can get rid of the old one.

for firefox users. I know you can simply copy the application data in your
Documents and Settings\[user name]\application data\mozilla directory.

I'm always making a backup of this on a usb stick.

Thunderbird I don't use, so I can't help with that one.

Good luck using it with Thunderbird. It fails on me every time.
