I quit reading when it said MS Paint is one of the worst. I won't stand for such bullshit.

I gave up at #17. Shut down? You have a problem with shut down? Die, get in the coffin.

I also gave up on the article. Did "Microsoft Bob" make it into the list?

That was one of the top 20 worst computer articles written since the magazine started.

Only the attempt to make USB work with Windows 95. USB itself is not on the list.

I actually agreed with most of the list. And they really didn't go after MS Paint, they went after that paintbrush app which was sorta a precursor to paint, and far inferior.

I won't even look at the list. Who fucking cares? The world runs on windows, who cares if paint sucks. Fucking pay money and buy a real program.

The foundation of the world runs on one variant of UNIX or another..
The part everyone sees runs on windows.

I hate that fucking task bar. No matter how many times you try to limit all the useless shit that stays there making booting up take forever, they always pop up.

To Disable The Notification Area Balloon Tips.

Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then press ENTER.
2. Navigate to the following subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Advanced
3. Right-click the right pane, create a new DWORD value, and then name it EnableBalloonTips.
4. Double-click this new entry, and then give it a hexadecimal value of 0.
5. Quit Registry Editor. Log off Windows, and then log back on.

These steps disable all Notification Area balloon tips for this user. There is no way to disable balloon tips for specific programs only.

If you have windows vista, download tweakvista. It's great for that stuff. It can also get rid of all those security prompts.

http://www.stardock.com/products/tweakvista/ I'm still on XP and attempt msconfig and it basically never works.

Here's one they forgot, how about the add/remove program feature in control panel where whether or not they remove the programs gets more and more arbitrary. And even if they can't "remove" it, they won't remove the name from the Add/remove list.

too bad the standard in real programs costs like $600 which is a lot for someone to recreationally mess around with.

I am honestly surprised that the #1 worst windows feature wasn't windows me, the worst operating system ever. I reverted back to 98 because me sucked so bad. my computer must have crashed about 200 times under me and almost never under 98 or xp. I spent $20 on it (had a friend who worked for microsoft and got me the deal) and it was the worst $20 I have ever spent.

Paint.NET is quite good and free. It was developed by the University of Washington, either with Microsoft, or at least with MS's money. This should have been included with Vista, I'm not sure why it wasn't. Either way, its great for anyone that needs more than Paint, but less than Photoshop.

I umm, dont have cs2, or cs3 bootleg, that would be illegal :D

I am talking about the average person if they were to go out they can't afford the damn program. its ridiculously expensive. If they dropped it to normal prices, maybe 60-80 bucks they would probably sell 50x the volume they sell now.

by the way, if anyone needs a good defragmentation program, disk keeper works great. Another great utility is tune up utilities for daily maintenance.
