Every time you contact MS through Vista, which may or may not be apparent to the user, it sends data about what is on your computer. Effectively less privacy.

Vista is spyware.

This is interesting ....

But could Microsoft turn the data it has collected against you? Of course, what did you think? "Microsoft may disclose personal information about you if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) comply with the law or legal process served on Microsoft; (b) protect and defend the rights of Microsoft (including enforcement of our agreements); or (c) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of Microsoft employees, users of Microsoft software or services, or members of the public," reveals another excerpt.

The irony for me is that I've been thinking of getting a new computer, mostly for gaming. Now I'm looking at what M$ is up too, shit, I might just do something with Mac or Linux and just get a laptop for games.

Deep down in my gut, I am loathing all this control M$ is trying to amass.

Like Steve Jobs isn't a control freak. Look at the control he exerts with iPod and now the iPhone. If they held the dominant position in operating systems, I would think they would be worse than MS.

Thank you! Good to see some common sense breaking up the dumbass comments in this thread. It's like people saying they're going to move to China because America isn't free enough anymore.

I'll keep using Windows as I have a DJ program that runs only on windows that I can't live without. I'd like to try out one of the others sometime but not sure if I'll like them. I downloaded Solaris from Sun Microsystems but haven't installed it yet. I wonder how good it is.

I guess even with a program like Anonomizer, MS could see all the Aryan websites I've, uh, I mean someone might have visited.:haha7:

I don't have a problem with Bill Gates. I sure as hell would be working my ass off for all that money. I just am sick of my Windows locking up and crashing all the time.

Windows has been very stable for some time now. You may have bad hardware/bad driver. Make sure that Windows writes dump files and that you don't reboot until it completes writing it (it tells you when). Use this link http://www.networkworld.com/news/2005/041105-windows-crash.html
to learn how to read the dump file to look for the offending driver.

I had BSOD issues for MONTHS until I finally did something about it. It turns out that it was caused by a driver installed by AVG Anti-Rootkit; which would take shit (seemingly at random, but not so random in hindsight....) when I'd start some programs.

Anyway, take a look, it might save you some headaches.
