I'm really getting into The Cure lately, does that make me a homosexual?

I really hope not, cause I don't like weiners THAT much.

Robert Smith is a great songwriter.

Does anyone else on here like them?

I've really liked The Cure since the Mid 80's...but since the late 90's I've not been too much of a follower...having said that I'm seeing them on tour soon.

I'd put them on my Top 10 fav. bands/artist

Some of their stuff is very good. Some of it's pretty gay.

I think Wild Mood Swings is an amazing album. "Want" is a pretty kick-ass song to open the album. I got into their music because of the Page/Plant reunion tour, oddly enough. They had Porl Thompson playing with them and they did a creepy cover of "Lullaby." I had no idea what the song was when I heard it. I didn't know it was the Cure until I taped one of their concerts off the radio and brought it into my guitar instructor.

There are a few very good songs on their self-titled album that came out a year or 2 ago. "Us or Them" and "alt. end" are both pretty cool.

Their sound in the 80's and early 90's was amazing. It declined in recent times, and not many people can really find the association to them as strongly as in their earlier years.
Still, listening to new stuff, theyre no slouches musically.

I still tolerate the cure. Few of the more popular tunes are a bit played out.

Hence my post. Most people have never heard their best work. 1980 - 1982. The Cure made some really good stuff after then, but those three albums the best Cure you will ever hear.

I wouldn't go quite that far, but Seventeen Seconds was (and is) a great album. That was my introduction to The Cure and it's fantastic.

The comments above about their "recent" music baffle me, as I haven't heard a single thing they've done in over fifteen years. :) I saw The Cure at Giants Stadium in '88 or '89, headlining for The Pixies and Love and Rockets, and The Cure bit major donkey dick (L&R stole the show), and after "Love", I stopped paying attention.

Doesn't diminish what they'd accomplished up to that point, of course.

I like em. Which was always odd to me because I liked The Cure and Morrissey. And Smith and Morrissey over the years hated each other. But many fans are crossover fans.

As for what status you are. I really don't care. I can't listen to fucking Iron Maiden all day everyday. And this whole masculinity based on what kind of music you listen to is stupid anyway.

If you say "over 15 years" then you might've missed "Wish" which was released in 1992 :p

Also, 96, 2000 and 2004 saw Cure studio albums.

Not much of a difference between them and the Smiths, or Depche Mode, or Erasure or any of that faggot WLIR Long Island gay rock shit.

Considering I mentioned "Wish" in my post, I don't think you needed to point that one out. If you want to be all Larry Literal about my "over 15 years" comment, it is in fact OVER fifteen years since "Wish" was released in April of '92.:action-sm

By "baffled" I didn't mean that I didn't KNOW they'd produced any music since "Wish", just that I haven't heard any of it.

The Cure was a great band in the 80's and I have all their stuff in that time period. Also some 90's stuff. Since then I have not followed them that closely. I didn't even realize they were still making albums.

Yeah, definitely mood music.

they were great the first time around, and have gotten better with age...Songs like "love song" and "jsut like heaven really hold up as good songs.

Kind of like Duran Duran, they come off as very musical on giving a listen after getting older

Seeing them May 10.
For the record, since tourettesguy posted the video, that and Love Song are definitely among my absolute least favorite Cure songs.
Just realized that the only shows so far this summer I'm planning on seeing are The Cure, Dethklok and Rancid.
