I was there years ago. Some nice waterparks, a go-kart track, alot of great
places to eat, a quick ride to Norfolk Navel base and some decent harbour cruises
and Williamsburg/Busch Gardens is a doable day trip too.

The aquarium was kind of cool... Otherwise the beach. I'd stay at a beachfront hotel though.

I just got back from there last week. It was soooo fucking unbearably hot. The best place we found to eat was the Tiki Bar and Grille. On Wednesdays they have all you can eat sushi for 10.99 and it was the best sushi I have ever had. Do not go for the all you can eat seafood buffets, they are expensive and the shitiest buffets I have ever seen. Do not go on the beach with a beer, I found out the hard way and ended up getting a nice $96 souvenir.(could have been worse if they would have asked me to open my cig pack.)

A good "dive" place for live music and food (deli style) is The Jewish Mother. If you want to hang out with some drunk 20 something year old sailors, there are about three bars on the Atlantic Ave. area known as "the block". For a nice "date night" try the Five 0 One City Grill. Good food, and drinks. The VB answer to FH Riley's. It's about 4 blocks from the beach.

I also suggest skipping the Aquarium, I went and it is under construction. There are probably 15 exhibits open. Not worth the $10.

I've got a timeshare in Williamsburg & am down there once a year (September 2-9 this year). As for VaB...what everyone said is true but remember this: Do not curse on the boardwalk - you will be ticketed. There are actually signs telling you not to curse! If you're into surfing, go up by Rudee Inlet. Usually on the weekends there are competitions. You'll be there too early but September 7-9 is the Naval Air Station Oceana Air Show and even if you can't get into the base for the show (you gotta get there really early), if you're on the beach the day before you can catch them doing maneuvers - last year one of them buzzed the beach and literally scared the crap out of this kid who looked to be about 7. Poor kid was hysterical crying because he crapped. Meantime his father was trying to be sympathetic but you could tell he was trying to stifle a laugh.

Norfolk is I think a half hour away...lots to do up there. Waterside Marketplace has some halfway decent places to eat - get crabs at Joe's. The take a boat ride on the Elizabeth. You can do either the paddleboat or the schooner - I liked the schooner better.

Williamsburg is 60 miles north of VaB ... besides the historical stuff & the amusement parks there are some bars - College of William & Mary starts classes on 8/29 and the Tribe (their football team) has their first home game on the 30th - should be lots of activity up there.

Oh and if you really have nothing to do, there's always the trek across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. First timers usually find it "cool".

Go to MLK blvd and ask someone. Just say "Hey boy where is a good place for a fine aryan gentleman like myself to have some fun. And make it snappy, I'm a white man and shouldn't be kept waiting by the likes of a colored." works every time
