Hey guys, I'm currently interviewing for a job in Lakewood, Colorado, outside of Denver. Anybody know anything about living there or live close by? I'm more than likely going to take the job, but I've never been anywhere around there before. Any info would be nice.

Lakewood has the Casa Bonita restaurant accurately featured in the South Park episode where Cartman kidnaps Butters.

Hot dry summers, cold winters. I spent some time there and it sure beats the shit out of where we are! More hippies, but whatever.....

A kid I knew in high school actually moved out to Littleton the year before the shooting happened. Never heard from him after he moved, so don't know what school he ended up in

Lakewood is a decent place, the Denver area is overall a good place. Lots of things to see and do in the area. Give me a couple of hours and I'l find you a couple of websites with some info regarding housing and such.

Thanks guys, sorry I've been out of pocket to respond. I've looked at lot of websites and stuff, but of course they are all mostly positive about the area. I was just wondering if anybody had any experience living there. Also I was looking for someplace to live, probably an apt. for now until I get settled and buy a house. Any suggestions? I can't wait to get out here, freaking humidity and rain. Not sure why I moved back home in the first place. Plus it should be about a $15K raise, so I 've got that going for me, which is nice.

you'll need a snow cat..

only if you get a shit load of snow at once. most days the snow melts quick. ive shoveled snow in shorts and a tshirt more times than i can remember.

the snow melts usually before noon if you get less than a foot overnite.

Really housing is my biggest priority right now. I've looked at some apt. complexes on the net, some pretty close to where the office is, but not sure if they are good or not. I don't really want to live with undesirables. The office is on Van Gordon south of Hwy 6. One of the complexes I looked at was Panorama West on Zang Way and the other is Huntington, i think. Heard of these?

Maybe when I buy my spread out of town in a few years. I could mod it and drag race.

I live just norf of denver. just moved here in january. I thought I was moving to south park. FUCK is it HOT here!!!!!! had no idea that I was moving to the desert. and as posted earlier, be prepared for a few months of shortness of breath. I have asthma and it took me a little longer to adapt and the mountains still kick my ass when I go up there. and in the winter they have shit for snow removal. our street in front of our house had 7 inches of ice. the moving guy couldn't get out after he unloaded the truck. we had to get him a couple of heat guns to melt the ice away under the tires because he couldn't get any traction at all and he wound up sleeping in his truck that night and not getting out until the next afternoon. other than that, it's a great place as long as I don't have to deal with the boulder hippy freaks too much.

Those of you moving into this area, I live Thornton, N.E. Denver Metro area, the area where I live there are a boatload of houses in the $130,000 to $160,000 price range. All are under 7 yars old, and in excellent condition. Right now, the Denver area like every place is having it's shit fits because of the economy. Great to have some new PEST's coming to this area, we need more P.O.W.'s

Man, if you're used to living in the Houston area I doubt you're going to find anything in Littleton Colorado that'll make you uncomfortable. Houston is a shit hole, Littleton's tame as long as you stay away from the High Schools.

Off topic, my mom grew up in Littleton... I think she lived on Sorrento Street if you locals have a clue where that is

Hey guys, I'm finally here and have my internet hooked up. I got a nice apt. across the street from my office, so I will be able to walk to work, which is sweet. This place rocks so far. Now to find some bars and meet the locals. Should be fun. Thanks to everyone for their help.

I'm officially jealous! I used to live in Metro Denver (south, right at the 25/225 intersection) and I'd kill to go back. For those of you living there now, how's the job market?
