I am going to take my turn on the whipping post for expressing my thoughts on this topic but here it goes...
When will the message board fanboys get a grip on reality? The show has taken a serious downward spiral over the past several weeks (though Fez's perfromance on friday was truly classic) and the main reason is the fanboy message board hacks. You are not the show, why should we care about crazy jen or booboo bobo whatever the fuck his name is. I am fan of great talk radio, Ron and fez truly are at the top of that pyramid, but the actions of a few message board "uber fans" is truly fucking up the listening expierence.
The DC deal sealed it for me, I live 90 minutes from DC, I would of gladly taken the day off from work to sit in and listen to a great interview, I actually sent an email that day asking for an invite, only to find out the "uber posters" got all of the tix? Thats bullshit, I support the show with my 22.95 a month, by listening and enjoying the performance of two great improv comedianes and by not calling in and dragging the show down to a Don and Mike level. Instead people like crazy jen and bobo are at both tapings and spend about 90 minutes on air talking bullshit?
Hey maybe I should show my man tits on paltalk and bend over while eating yogurt and post 1500 times a week so I can go to a Jimmy Norton taping. Oh and by no means am I implicating members of Wackbag, since the members here actually contribute to both shows and bail when the call has ended or the joke failed. :haha7:
Ok let the bashing begin ::hammer:

I feel for Fez, but to an extent, if only because in an abstract way him and Ron are responsible for this environment where theyve become super friendly with many of the fans, many of whom think that they are now part of the show and, by default, R&F's lives. Its a shame, too, because now its to the point where they are being taken advantage of in a number of different ways, but could any other outcome really have been expected when dealing with borderline obsessive fans like those who are mentioned on the show every day ad nauseum ?
I guess i just requoted your post..sorry

Could not agree more.
I've said this before, quite a few times. Ron & Fez are great.....but they have quite a few "friends of the show" who really think they're more of a part of the show than they really are, don't know their place in the scheme of things, and in general try and (if I can use some wrestling jargon here), "get themselves over", often times at the expense of the show.
Sometimes it's easy to tune it out. Others, it can be fucking tedious and can REALLY sidetrack the show.

I'm not going to bash you so much as disagree with the gist of your post. If you're not satisfied with the show right now, don't pussy out and blame the fans - blame Ron and Fez, because at the end of the day, they're the only people who decide what goes over the air.
Do I enjoy hearing about people I don't know or care about? Not particularly (I actually hate Sheepy with a fucking passion) but I know the show will never be tailored to me and my option is to either listen or don't. I choose to listen because no matter what, it's still (in my opinion) the best show in radio and brings me much-needed laughs every day (my life is shit.) I also think that there's something to the freedom Ron and Fez have on XM and if this is the kind of show they want to do right now, that's cool.
Oh and I was planning to take a trip up to DC but by the time I made arrangements it was too late. C'est la vie.
i agree with you guys for the most part
but let's remember, it's Ronnies show pretty much
sometimes he needs a little help
let's let him decide

I'm sort of feeling you. I never disliked him before, back in the old days when he was just a faceless (voiceless?) person who would just interact via IMs.
I've grown to pretty much hate all the pal-talkers. If there's a group that's a burden to the fucking show at times, it's that group.

I am on PT usually, not that it matters. Just wondering how it's a burden to the show? That Ron pays attention to it? AFAIK the PT room doesn't solicit attention, it's just a fishbowl for mister b to look at instead of the revolting sausage fest constantly going on in the studio.

I agree with you on some points. I think Crazy Jenn is pretty funny, but some of the people are fucking dog shit man. Bobo?! He's terrible. Sheepy is awful, but I like how Ronnie pokes fun at him. The fucking Mike Caca shit with HTG, I can fill in the blanks, but that is so INSIDE, I have no idea what he even means sometimes.
I don't think the show has declined however, I do find it annoying how much airtime these people get, but it's not my show.

And let's remember, East Side Dave, whom a LOT of people hate was an Uber-Listeniner who got a ticket to the show. Bored Gossip is nothing but shouting props to Uber-Listeners who are a minority of the audience, Crazy Jen and boBo and HTG and all the others should just be listeners and LISTEN.

I will say this and only this on the subject:
Everything that happens on Ron and Fez happens because Ron and Fez allow it to happen. Are there people the buddies don't like or don't want on the show? Probably. I don't know. But that's why. Anything they don't want on the show or don't like stays off the air.
As far back as I can remember, Ron & Fez have always been a very interactive show that allows their friends to come in, and they have always used the medium in front of them to help out their friends and help them succeed. (Stugots, I hope you don't mind me mentioning you, but the story about the gig you promoted really hammered this home for me.) Like it or not, Paltalk is just another way to involve their friends.

I stopped listening to R&F a few weeks ago, too much inside stuff and the aw'ing on paltalk to get a mention. I know I'm not the first one to notice this, but when O&A stopped mentioning fans as much, everyone jumped to R&F. The week that R&F didn't have paltalk was great radio, we didn't have to hear about peopel folding their underware everyday, or what's this person eating.

I personally believe that there are certain individuals on PalTalk who intentionally distract on the show to make it about them.
You, being a PalTalker, may find the ENDLESS comments from Ronnie about so & so looking hot today, or this person flashing for the camera, etc., amusing, but for me, it got old after maybe the first week. It's just tedious now.

But that's the whole point of this thread, isn't it - it's not about R&F doing things for their friends, it's about certain individuals in the R&F community not knowing where the line should be, and going just a little bit too far, making it all about them rather than the show.

I see your point... but the fact remains that these messageboards host the main arteries of the show. The die hards are all avid posters on the boards or on paltalk and they are the people who do attend events and do see the buddays on a social level, myself included.
And this is really no different from 2001/02... the only difference now is that there are SO many boards to post on. Back in the day it was RonFez.com and then RonFez.net.... and we all posted there. The same people who went in studio and the same people who the boys consistently mentioned on air.

Sounds like someone has a case of the jealousies. The folks on PT could do anything they want, Ron & Fez can shut down their cameras, no one is forcing them to view certain cameras. I believe the only person who did anything remotely close to what you are describing, or could have been perceived as doing as such would be Frenchy with her scandalous "Naked Tuesdays", shocking "Naked Wednesdays", and naughty "Naked Thursdays". Been a while since that though.
ENDLESS comments? Bullshit, give me an exact number, stop talking out of your ass.
And am I amused? Fuck yeah. It makes the show that much more fun. Ron also uses it as a form of instant feedback like Ant does, taking lines and plugging them into the show. And if you don't know agiiirl, and her beauty Ronnie describes, then I fucking feel sorry for you.

C'mon; no-one's disputing that; we're just posting opinions on some content that many of us would prefer to hear less of.
RB mentioned today (yesterday?...whatevah) how they gave DC tix to posters by priority cuz they "support" the show.
We posters (" we few, we lucky few, we band of shiteaters...') are the miniscule minority who don't "turnover" in a year or less, and are the barflys that provide one of the sources of semi-coherent-feedback and are sometimes the quickie on-line reference for the new fans.

when it comes to the shows they are using the fans, its not that they dont care about us, but we do need to understand that they utilize us to benefit the show, so when its about one of us I dont think we should feel special, or think its our moment to shine, we need to think about how we can add to the show, and how not to distract from it

THIS is just another reason Ronnie loves you. Because you GET IT.
When I would call in during me and Fezzie's "cat fights" it was to add feul to Fez's fire... to keep up with the bit. It wasn't to showcase myself. Adding to the show is way more fulfilling than just calling attention to my silly life.
This is one of the best parts of the show... they truly draw from their listeners and have fun with them. But in the end... it is ALL about the show. Period.

Sounds like someone has a case of the jealousies.
Brother, not even remotely the case.
I've listened to Ron & Fez for seven years now, since they got syndicated to the D.C. market waaaaaaay back in 2000, with the late night "RonandFez.com" show. I've listened to them a lot longer than probably some of you who do socialize with them have. I've had years to cultivate the sort of relationship with them that a lot of you people have (especially considering R&F used to be here locally), and never did. Trust me, I'm not smacking my fist against my palm every day going, "Curses! Look at all the attention so & so is getting on the show, it should be me instead!" It ain't about me. I'm happy just listening to the show, and commenting on this board.
ENDLESS comments? Bullshit, give me an exact number, stop talking out of your ass.
Pretty much every day it's some comment about Silera's ass. Or French Bread Pizza. Or Flight Benefits. Or what is HTG eating today? Oh look at what Casey's doing now. Etc.
I'm not saying everyone does it for the attention. But I think some do. And it's an annoyance to me. I'm not saying it destroys the entire show, but sometimes it's a distraction.
And if you don't know agiiirl, and her beauty Ronnie describes, then I fucking feel sorry for you.
I don't have a fucking clue what you're getting at here.
You really want a show closed off to the world, you'd rather the fans have no chance to interact? You realize how awful the calls usually are right?
R&F have always found a way to interact with their listeners. I don't particularly believe that PalTalk is the be-all, end-all of the modern-day R&F experience if you're a fan.

Pretty much every day it's some comment about Silera's ass. Or French Bread Pizza. Or Flight Benefits. Or what is HTG eating today? Oh look at what Casey's doing now. Etc.
Silera hasn't been around forever, Frenchy has been ill and not on much recently, Flight... was she ever on? HTG eating comes up maybe once a week and it's seconds, and Casey a lot of times Ron will just make shit up on what she and others are doing just to piss off Dave or whoever. That's why it's funnier for fans.
So if you listened at NEW, did you find all the lights out parties and babies annoying? You'd think you'd have some perspective in all of this, apparently you have the memory of a retarded moth. These type of things come and go, just roll with it.
An example of how much Ron likes inside jokes is this: in 2002 there was a lights out party, and Irish Alkey was there. Ron apparently saw him for the first time and kept going on and on at the party of how much Alkey looks like John Cusack. Then when Ron talked about it on the show, Ron said that Alkey was the one who wouldn't shut up, that he kept going on and on about looking like Cusack. That, by itself, is mildly amusing, however when you realize it was really Ron who was saying the Cusack thing, it makes it much funnier. To who though? To Alkey and maybe like 3 or 4 people at the party. That's why Ron is a genius. PT is used to very similar effect.
So if you listened at NEW, did you find all the lights out parties and babies annoying? You'd think you'd have some perspective in all of this, apparently you have the memory of a retarded moth. These type of things come and go, just roll with it.

your rant was good but it went a little of to the left
OK same day tix na na na aint happening, most of jimmys hbo if not all is free and most of HBO's taping are all you have to do is sign up. they email the shit out daily.
other then that i wont say much, but ron and fez show i noticed has taken a serious change to have fans be more part of the show then in the past which was the idea of the show in the first place but hey its their show and they want fans to decide things for them so let it be save the 22.95 and move on theres more to life

All the world's a stage
Granted: the entire "cool kids club" alienates 99% of the audience, but I nevertheless get at least 2hrs/day of deep belly laughs from rhe R&F show.
So what if I have to deal with a bit of ESD pretending to be an idiot? And/or Earl pretending to be incompetent? It's still pretty entertaining. (well, at least the Earl stuff; ESD is insultingly transparent. Step it up, n00b. :).
Regardless, as the great Ronnie B says: 'Carnies & rubes.'
Embrace your poison, my friends; I, for one, consider R&F to be a great value for $12 DOHLLERS/mo.
.
but then again, I'm a tool

You're all a bunch of queers. If you've got a problem, call the show about it. You seem to think that board whining is what the show is all about anyway, so you'll fit right in.

I love Ron and Fez...listen everyday...but only started when they appeared on Xm. I guess everyone loves to be in the spotlight...but some of the "regular" callers totally stop the show sometimes. Even worse is when these callers are in studio.

Ron goes after bobo, makes fun of his crying, banjo carrying, etc. It's not like he isn't fodder.

Among others. As I'm sure Sheepy is a nice guy and all and I'm aware some of you know him...he is just dreadful on the radio. I'm not sure whats worse-when Sheepy is on the phone and you have to listen to him or when Sheepy is in studio and you have to hear him laughing.
I understand the non-tri-state listeners feeling a little left out. But they do their best to paint a vivid picture ... and the boards are very accessible to everyone. If you are open to becoming involved that is....
I totally agree with you're point friday.. im not even close to the tri-state area and i feel as if i was there.. .R&F paint one hell of a picture...

Wow this is weird how the way the thread has emerged as a bash the show character thread but with todays deveolpments I think we need to appreciate the show for what is now, as it does always evolve and come full circle. With the seriousness of todays show I feel like I need to apologize for starting this thread.
Just joking fuck Bobo and sheepy and everyone else...no really now I am joking...really

Yes.
And really, I think that should be the point of the thread (at least for those of us who have criticized within it). If you're a Paltalker, or a friend of the show (i.e. you attend show appearances, have met or know Ron & Fez, etc.), and you're feeling defensive, it's not as if we're saying these individuals are bad people.
Some of them are just absolute shit on the radio.
It's not the end of the world if they are.

The fan interaction is fun mostly and the show does a great job with it. Hearing about someone eating a big bowl of shit on paltalk isnt.

Gee Milkman, I think if I got to see someone eat a bigbowl of shit on the radio while looking at paltalk on the internets and listening to ron and fez on the tv then I would be ok. :action-sm
