Not always, but sometimes, and when it happens its usually some stupid userbar or photobucket sig trying to load.... but it makes my IE6 unresponsive for 5-10 seconds when it happens, I cant click on shit.

This is on a fancy new computer, and it happened on my Dell, but i thought it was showing its age.

anybody else have this problem?

Yeah, I have no problems with Firefox. IE6 was ok but when I "upgraded"
to IE7 I got alot more lockup problems. I have none with Firefox.

Interesting point, Ive always used IE6, never had a problem until recently. Maybe a recent Windows Update did it...

I installed IE7 and I havent had the problem since.

IE7 sucks! Why can't you move the address bar? I have found a regedit that lets you move it down, but you cant move anything else below it.

martianv
09-07-2007, 01:04 AM
why would you move the address bar? And move what below it? If you have other shit installed, i would uninstall it. It's just fluf that gets in the way.

Because its on top of everything else. I like having the menu bar shown, then the address bar, then my quick links, then google toolbar.

With the registry hack, i can make the address bar go under the menus, but then you cant put the quick links or google toolbar below it.

I understand that IE7 is really a component of Vista that has been backwards developed for XP, and from what I read on Vista it makes sense, especially with Aero, but IE7 on XP is shit.

do you even think before you type responses joe? you asked a question, and I answered you. Nothing has changed on the server - yet "all of the sudden" you are having problems with your browser, as are other people. Did you think for a second that *maybe* the problem lies in the browser, and that's why Microsoft releases patches for it and the operating system?

I mean - I do try to co-ordinate all of the server changes with a team of Microsoft engineers to ensure that *your* experience is not altered... :arrrh:

you can plug a USB keyboard into a laptop and use that - it makes it more cumbersome to use (and kinda defeats the portability of a laptop), but you at least get full use of the keyboard.

back to the original topic

I've been using Firefox for a week now, and while it doesnt give me problems with WB anymore, its just seems quirky to me. Pages dont load correctly sometimes - for example my igoogle just loaded completely f'd up.

Sometimes I open the browser and it loads a very small window, maybe 150x150 in the top corner. I have to manually resize the window.

I also hate the 'find' function layout. I prefer a dialog box.

Other than that, i like Wizz RSS and some other extensions.

The funny thing is that it's actualy IE that fucks iGoogle up. Google has been developing that to be more "Firefox friendly" than IE friendly (especially since Google is working on a FF based browser...)

I am still getting lockups and page not available on WB, but everything is fine if I click to another site. Then if I wait a few minutes and come back it's usually OK. It doesn't matter which computer I am on. And, it happens on both my Aircard and FioS connections.

It's probably because FireFox doesn't cache Images in https mode. If you have sigs and avatars turned on, that will cause each page to take forever to load, or lock up.

There is a way to disable that in Firefox, but I wouldn't recommend it. You can use the http site for the board (and the https one for the ModCP - I'll fix the link so that it'll take you to the https site).
